It feels like such a waste when people nowadays give up the games so easily. Just so many great moments like these, not happening because resigning early on is faster.
Wow. Zack you are absolutely right - this is the best AoC game I've ever seen. 100x better than the cookie cutter plums+rams Mayan regicide fortress matches played nowadays. Thank you for casting!
This old game reminds me when I was young and I would play AoE 2 with my dad. I was too young to really play effectively on my own so I would help him when he was playing online. There was one specific match I remember where we destroyed the opponents town center but he wasn't defeated, we were really confused and discovered he had built an super stronghold in the corner of the map. What a great game
THAT WAS FREAKING AMAZING. My eyes were literally almost on tears from excitement when the teal and yellow kings started running up to the castle near Kkab's base! Omfg that was insane hahahahhaha
This is the best poetic justice for Archangel I had ever seen. He absolutely demolished Cheat, but his last kill of the game (which is Archangel`s King) was bade by the castle of the very opponent he demolished. Literal poetic justice as well as revenge XD
0:35 NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.
Phenomenal game and the fact that we see everything now whilst they were in the dark makes it even more exciting....hilarious when the king makes a dash for it loool kap what a player
wtf even is this. It was a massive load of facepalming with the kings and the trading and the map awareness and control. So good to watch but also horrifying to watch that these were the best players at the time.
Best. Game. EVAR! Had me laughing out loud watching the kings waddle around between sanctuaries xD What a game from Kab, opponents outresourced and zoned out by the bombard towers, just incredible!
This record is very enjoyable to watch, actually, surprised me to be honest! I really had pleasure watching the last half of the game, and in the end I was just like Zero! Of course, back in those days we can see top players playing in a much more less effective way, because the community were (the majority at least) unnaware about the best tactics/procedures, which are common knowledge even for low rated players today, but, the "fun factor" aged well. Where can we see more crazy and fun games from the past like this? I bet a "scavenger hunt" on heavengames may provide similar games, but there is just tons of recs there, lol. Well, Good video!!!!
Fresh Prince of Persia I miss MrFixitOnline. They had a spotlight section for great recorded games. You might be able to find some on the wayback machine, or in archives on other gaming forums.
Now people are saying the problem with yellow was he didn't get to castle fast enough. This would be a huge mistake now a days, but in this match yellow did have the conquistador advantage around the 17-21 mark. His problem was micro management. Not once but Twice did kkab use halbierders and chu ku nos to obliterate yellow's army. If raid had just kept back peddling them he might of been able to snipe at a distance. The problem with grey not getting his king fast enough away though was pretty legitamite. kkab could of won the game faster if he stuck around. :P
btw I wanted to ask you are you playing aoe hd now or just the old version? I have the old version but not sure if I should get the hd or not and if its worth it in terms o fbetter game play because you see the map, units better etc?? any advice on this would be helpful. Cheers
Frank Armstrong which multiplayer site do you play HD on? I don't like the on-fire effect of buildings I prefer the old one but it seems like the game is better on HD.
Frank Armstrong btw you said that there were lots of players on steam multiplayer ...honestly where are they lol the lobby is very poor tbh and the rooms half of them dont give you access...its no where near voobly for gamers so yes im playing the campaigns and enjoying them but mulitplayer is very poor in standard. Also, it lags in multi player all the time and it gets to a stage where it unplayable.
Yeah, just before the king died it had 25 HP. This would have taken 3 hits from the light cavalry to kill. The only thing in the area that could have killed it that fast was the castle. However, due to TH-cam compression it was almost impossible to see the arrows coming from the castle, even at 1080p.
Man, this is the best match i've ever seen, wtf, it's just amazing, they played with their soul, like it was a game of life or death. Fucking insane!!!!
This game was recommended in the 50 best Age of Empires 2 players poll on AoEZone. Kkab and Koven are both up there. Yeah, it's legendary, Kkab beat them 1v2. He had better idea how to play post imp - he forced fights close to teal's base. Forward production is a game changer as well.
Zero I remember watching a video from you a long time ago, from theviper against someone, I can't remember. He was getting stomped in his base yet he kept building watch towers and held off in a crater and ended up winning the game. In my memory it was pretty epic and I'd love to see it, but I can't remember the name or find it. Do.. do you know? :D
So many mistakes but the game is so epic because everyone makes them. Archangel not focussing greys king earlier, trade not being taken down until way too late. The foresight to bombard tower everything to keep map control. Amazing game
Saw this on the live stream yesterday, what a game! Raid and Archangel could've easily won if Archangel sniped Kovan's king earlier when it was exposed, because Raid still had some castles and map control left.
Retreating may sound like a cowardly tactic but, in fact, it's extremely useful and can sometimes make you win the game. Sadly, this game it didn't happen. However, "It's not over until it's over." I played a game once where a player kept retreating/hiding even after dominating them. In the end, I gave up because I got annoyed at his excellent tactic of hiding/retreating... Anyway, I would of loved to see them start trading but, they did not. Trade/Relics are very important. Once the map resources runs out, gold is your only option.
It's funny that he dislikes Regicides because the start is messy but likes Death Matches, which require you to scramble for military, defenses, AND eco all at the same time.
Just as a reminder back in the late 90s early 2000s. Daut and Chris were there. Now Daut and Chris when serious and practicing hard can take 9 or 10 games from jordAn or viper in a BO 21. They might have taken 2 or 3 agsinst these guys when they played together back then.
If Chu Ko Nu beats Conquistadors, but Light Cavalry beats Chu Ko Nu, doesn't it make sense for blue to build Pikemen in order to preemptively counter his own counter?
Fantastic game. But so many dumb moves from yellow and cyan. Ignoring grey's king the first time. Beating a player and not looking immediately for markets. Not protecting the rams when they went to the market. Deciding they were finally going to take it down by building a castle (the villagers could have just destroyed the market from outside of the towers range - or any other unit. Not thinking "hey, this guy is trading with his market which is letting him stay in the game. Our gold is running low, maybe we should try that." There were even unguarded rams attacking a town center with a king and the nearby villagers continued to farm. Any of those things could have won the game. But I guess that might have ruined the drama.
True, and that covers a lot of it like the king snipe opportunity and villagers destroying buildings, but I wouldn't use it as a complete explanation. 2004 is still 5 years after release. It's not like it was completely brand new. Even as a complete noob (still am) back then, I think I would have been aware of the existence of markets, and that that's one of the biggest advantages in a 2v1 situation. At least I would expect top level players to be onto that. Nonetheless, it was damn entertaining and it's sometimes the imperfections that make things memorable.
+Sids1192 They have their flaws but about the time grey is defeated, they thought they win by swarming trash units, killing blue's gold units and they put all the micros on that and the battle is hot. Not that they are ignorant, they didnt invest enough on the north and their own trade line because if blue pushes any further, 1. blue will have a huge mass of gold unit 2. blue will make bombard towers and it is very hard to recover.
There were many points in this game where countless rams rolled to their doom that could have been prevented if only they used a single treb instead of many rams.
Teal kills Grey's King. Grey's abandoned castle kills Teal's King.
Shakespeare wrote this.
not even sure the castle did it :/
Lukas G it did, you can tell because coven's score goes up
It feels like such a waste when people nowadays give up the games so easily.
Just so many great moments like these, not happening because resigning early on is faster.
Kkab didn't realize his situation was unwinnable, and so he won it. Insane game.
A lot of things are possible with infinite gold...
I WAS LITERALLY ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT. Kkab for world president.
Cheedillow *Kkab, but hey, you're right..
This was better than a movie
This is such a piece of art! Thank you for casting it Zak, and I hope you are considering to add more to the Epic Series in the near future :)
The ending was the best thing in the whole video. Seriously, it was absolutely poetic.
Wow. Zack you are absolutely right - this is the best AoC game I've ever seen. 100x better than the cookie cutter plums+rams Mayan regicide fortress matches played nowadays. Thank you for casting!
Thank you so much for commentating this game. Omg,Awesome game!
This old game reminds me when I was young and I would play AoE 2 with my dad. I was too young to really play effectively on my own so I would help him when he was playing online. Was so glad to see this in my subscription feed, totally worth an hour.
This game was supremely amazing , now I can die peacefully .
Amazing game!! The emotion behind the casting made it even better!! 11. I believe you really did have a tear in your eye on that one!
THAT WAS FREAKING AMAZING. My eyes were literally almost on tears from excitement when the teal and yellow kings started running up to the castle near Kkab's base! Omfg that was insane hahahahhaha
This is simply the best game ever played. Thank you for bringing this to us.
Feeling like a true subscriber when you watched this on the stream
Thank you for showing us this game! Simply AMAZING!
This is the best poetic justice for Archangel I had ever seen. He absolutely demolished Cheat, but his last kill of the game (which is Archangel`s King) was bade by the castle of the very opponent he demolished.
Literal poetic justice as well as revenge XD
1:05:25 ALL RIGHT
WE'LL CALL IT A DRAW
I laughed so hard at this comment LOL111
Hands down, no question about it, best Age of Empires game I have ever seen.
It's a hilarious quote, but in reality, everyone expected the Spanish Inquisition. They gave 30 days notice prior to arrival.
So nice to see that aoe is still great after a decade
Sooooooo Epic!!!!! That was unbelievable!! Ahhh those were the days...... after the 90s
This game and the "I have no words for this game" are the 2 greatest games i have seen hahaha Oh man, so good.
Phenomenal game and the fact that we see everything now whilst they were in the dark makes it even more exciting....hilarious when the king makes a dash for it loool kap what a player
Amazing commentary so entertaining to watch!!
I've been looking for a game this interesting and exciting for so long. Definitely worth the hour :)
wtf even is this. It was a massive load of facepalming with the kings and the trading and the map awareness and control. So good to watch but also horrifying to watch that these were the best players at the time.
1:00:45 At this point you really, really need the Benny Hill theme. RUN KINGS RUN
fantastic game. whenever i watch your channel now, everything is going to just seem a little mediocre :P
WILDCARD Sorry :(
I'll watch and enjoy anyway :P
Best. Game. EVAR! Had me laughing out loud watching the kings waddle around between sanctuaries xD What a game from Kab, opponents outresourced and zoned out by the bombard towers, just incredible!
Only one word can describe this: Legendary.
The best game I have ever watched.
That was a roller coaster from start to finish.
Just great. So much fun to watch!
Someone should show this replay to the players who played it and ask them if they remember this game :D
This record is very enjoyable to watch, actually, surprised me to be honest! I really had pleasure watching the last half of the game, and in the end I was just like Zero! Thank you. I will look for it!
I am glad to have seen this game in my lifetime. *Salutes kkab*
Wow! Simply amazing to watch
Holy FUCK! This fucking game! I'm literally in tears right now... GOLD IS KING!
This was so amazing!
I saw this video for the first time. Man I'm late. But seriously. That last kill by a defeated player was everything.
I just love battles like these. Keep it up! ^0^
Gotta admire how they fought so well and held on for so long.
i just love how he kept saying they need to find the trade whilst they already had light cav on the trade route for ages
Now people are saying the problem with yellow was he didn't get to castle fast enough. This would be a huge mistake now a days, but in this match yellow did have the conquistador advantage around the 17-21 mark. His problem was micro management. Zero with the 3k passion, is jee jee man.
Wow, just wow... that was intense!
wow, this is actually a lot more fun than those fast paced games nowadays, classic game, epic game
How do you watch such old games on the AoE2 HD playback program? Watching older games tends to bug out for me during playback.
Hey Zac awesome game! What do u think about a 2v2/3v3 Series on large/giant maps to support some more epic postimperial games?
makes me feel weird to think this game was played when i was 8
btw I wanted to ask you are you playing aoe hd now or just the old version? I have the old version but not sure if I should get the hd or not and if its worth it in terms o fbetter game play because you see the map, units better etc?? any advice on this would be helpful. Cheers
Frank Armstrong which multiplayer site do you play HD on? I don't like the on-fire effect of buildings I prefer the old one but it seems like the game is better on HD.
Frank Armstrong nice one
+Frank Armstrong Aright, does the graphics look like age of empire 3 or better?..I don't like playing ancient graphic settings.
KingQuraish Glad, i didn't buy that old shit.
Was the last kill kill by the castle? I didn't even see arrows???
iCH4N6 Yeah it was, the video quality makes it hard to see but if you watch closely you can see that it was in fact the castle :D
Yeah, just before the king died it had 25 HP. This would have taken 3 hits from the light cavalry to kill. The only thing in the area that could have killed it that fast was the castle. However, due to TH-cam compression it was almost impossible to see the arrows coming from the castle, even at 1080p.
you can also see that grey gets 10 points for killing the king :D
Definetly one of the best games I've ever seen (if not the best)!!!
Most insane game hands down. That was amazing.
awesome game zak is more games you done from back then?
one of the best games ever
Man, this is the best match i've ever seen, wtf, it's just amazing, they played with their soul, like it was a game of life or death. Fucking insane!!!!
Kkab was an absolute monster in that game!!!
legendary, truly legendary
I agree, insane game. Good stuff.
OMFG how the fuck could ive miss'd this? So AMAZING! Haha the end was just incredible. Im so sad that i didnt had the chance to watch this live :(

Soo fun and epic game recommend you watch your video again !)

That was an awesome game!
+JerryLiuFilms | 刘悦 | LiuTube is*
Wow! That was crazy!
1:00:20 What is raid doing?
Why, he's raiding kkab's eco :D
Zero I remember watching a video from you a long time ago, from theviper against someone, I can't remember. He was getting stomped in his base yet he kept building watch towers and held off in a crater and ended up winning the game. Saw this on the stream too. Incredible this trading by kkab
Who is watching this in 2019?
OMG !!! Awesome Ending (y)
watching a 2014 video about a 2004 game round of a game released in 1999, in 2017. Makes f*cking sense
Hey ive subscribed to the tree update on Steam and it still wont upload the mod...any tips?
+Sam Beckham
It could be the old version...try looking for a re-uploaded version in the workshop.
That was awesome :D
I remember watching this live on twitch stream, Zak came pretty hard at the end ;)
Amazing!
Hahahah, this is so amazing, how do i save this so I can watch it over and over

OMG great game, I wish too nowaday's games were like this :/ Anyway, great commentary Zero!
It's funny that he dislikes Regicides because the start is messy but likes Death Matches, which require you to scramble for military, defenses, AND eco all at the same time.
This is the Michael Jordan Game 6 of AOE2
This is the best game I have ever seen!!!!

Used to play it when I was grade 3. xD
LOVED IT
37:32. The king is running behind the tc
0:34 cheeky bant :D
PLEASE MORE OLD SCHOOL AOC PLEASE!!!
where do I get the record of the game?
Worth the HYPE... Excellent game...
Who is it now? In the description you write Koven, but ingame you introduce Grunt.
If Chu Ko Nu beats Conquistadors, but Light Cavalry beats Chu Ko Nu, doesn't it make sense for blue to build Pikemen in order to preemptively counter his own counter?

just an epic game. no words for that :D
this game is 11 years old now but however, how could they be so stupid to not built at least 1 trebuchet to kill the markets? xD
There were many points in this game where countless rams rolled to their doom that could have been prevented if only they used a single treb instead of many rams.
