After many qualifiers, I came out in Quartile 1, so I have a 1 seed going into groups.
The other 3 (in seed order) are Emosaru, Eradin, and Tjjoll!
The way modes get selected for the group matches is this:
We construct a deck of 20 "cards", 4 of each preset.
We then pull up to the last 5 races for each player.
For each player, we subtract your last race's preset, then we again subtract a card for each preset. If we go below 0, we keep the floor at 0. This has the effect of making your last race count twice against the "cards" we remove from the deck, severely reducing (but not 100% eliminating) the odds of a repeat race.
After we construct the deck, we use what's left to choose a random preset, weighted using what "cards" are left in the "deck".
The 5 possible modes are:
Open
Keysanity (with Castle Tower keys and GT Big Key always in dungeon)
Inverted Keysanity with Starting Flute
Ambrosia
Map/Compass/Full Boss Shuffle

I think it was in the SMZ3 video from a few days ago, Andy mentioned how much he hates that chest in Palace of Darkness. Funny to see it come up in a race so soon after that.

This was great to watch. Pretty sad that you don't do commentary on your tournament races anymore... I used to watch every single one of your tournament races(aside from SMZ3)... Went to watch your other races in the group stage and there is no commentary(not even before/after the race so don't even know who won), and most of them have no race restreams.. Checked AndyEyes and Solski and nothing in those places either..
My all time biggest troll with GT tile room was an AD seed, pendant swamp and hook shot was in GT tile room

I suppose any competitive gaming event would be, yeah. No prize pool for this though 😭
