Son, I just listened to your interview and you lightened my spirit. You are a professor in the making. I'm soooooo impressed and delighted by your intelligence despite your tender age. Your parents are blessed!!!
Fantastic level of intellectual curiosity in a 15yr old... God bless you Femi! I have completed the survey, and I will most certainly drift towards adopting the alternatives to plastics. Thanks so much 👍
God bless you young man...seeing a young person concerned about real life issues and not just taking photos in this time and age is very encouraging and refreshing, it gives hope to the future. Thank you Sis Adeola for bringing him on....but now person go dey fear to chop again!
Immense thanks to Adeola for fishing out and showcasing Nigerian/African talents. You are great. Kudos to Femi’s mum for her dedication and sacrifices that is evident now. Gazillion thanks to Obafemi for making all Africans proud. You must be proud of yourself too. You have touched the hearts of people globally. Ride on Femi. Sky is not your limit. God bless you real good.
Everyday I realise my African ancestors were never dumb or "not civilised" like my generation thinks due to modernisation. Our ancestors who used plantain leaves and other natural method to preserve or store food items or is it the mud pots used to cook or store water. They didn't have to worry about unhealthy storage materials or cooking pots. They were wiser , very eco aware and very eco friendly. But because we are looking for "scientific" evidence see where we are

Our ancestors commanded us to live in nature and we did until these capitalist economic parasites invaded our continent and chanted our way of live. It’s not too late for us to retrace our step and become kinder to nature again.
Mostly most products we use comes in plastic cintainers or bags. It is so dificult to avoid using plastics. Manufacturers force us to use plastics. Inmany places plastic bags are now banned. I take my own bags to the stores. I also try to only use glass as food storage containers. I dont use plastic cups and plastic plates. That young man that is doing research on the effects of plastic is a genious. thanks for giving him the opportunity to bring us the information. Keep up the good work.
God bless you for your wonderful presentation on plastic problems across the world. Recently, I was reading an article on micro plastic granules getting into human brains and many other parts of our body. I was shocked to read that it is also getting into the semen of human beings. I wonder what the negative effects of newborn babies will be. Your research will help to focus on this menace. Well done, Obafemi more grease to your elbow. Many thanks to Adeola Fayehun for bringing this survey into the open.
This is a great project, no doubt. But, I feel the issue is really with manufacturers of packaged foods, and drinks. I think to control the use of plastics, or plastic pollution, we need to start with the manufacturing companies.
Exactly I think wooden utensils should be replaced by plastic utensils I suggest this because he also made mention of a paper bag. Both are gotten from plant and it will be much saver.
Not all manufacturers will be ready to take a quick turn. we all have roles to play, proper disposal of plastic, one on one moral persuasion with fellas increase the awareness and also discourages it usage, which might later force manufacturers to seek alternatives
That is absolutely true, about 18billions plastic waste end up in our ocean, waterways, and rivers... We all have a role to play to...this is a subject we are very much into....and we are supporting global ocean cleanup...at the moment...there are many ways to be part of this.... Avoid using single use plastic, try and track your plastic footprint and go plastic neutral..and so much more..
This is an amazing awareness. What we thought was civilization and better life is apparently what we never knew that’s contributing to our illnesses and death. Thank you so much Femi, we are proud of you and other children that are thinking more positively on how to make this world a better place to live 🙏🏻
Femi, I quite agree with you. The impact of plastics on human health quantified. Most cancers , gastrointestinal problems such as chronic constipation have been linked to insoluble products that the body cannot breakdown. I am much interested in your project. Good luck.

This guy is true. My mentor who is a pharmacist and also a dietician for the past two years has warned me against sea animals especially the sea animals that are bigger in size because they are more laden with minerals deposited in the sea. Hence she advised me to either consume small size sea food animals if I must eat or consume fresh water animals.
This guy is brilliant by conducting this type of thesis at this age. I think what we should do is for everyone to adopt or use biodegradable package as a container for food and drinks.
Great Job Femi. I wish you success. My Master’s degree dissertation was on Circular Economy. That will give more ideas as to practices for better use of existing plastic as a way to discourage industries from creating more at the current pace. I wish you good luck 👍.
Nice research project he's working on. We consume a lot of chemicals, and these manufacturing companies don't give a damn; all they are after is their personal and selfish interest. I am wishing this young bright guy the very best in his research project, and hopes he becomes one of the greatest scientist in the nearest future.
This is worthy issue that Joshua Femi is trying to let the people know that plastic should be reduced in production. This young must be encouraged and this issue should be taken up by UN. Thanks
Kudos Femi, and thanks, Adeola for your enlightening programme. Does Femi really need responses from outside Nigeria? I have just filled out the form anyway, but it seems the survey is targeted to residents of America.
I have always wondered about the plastic they use to wrap fufu and moimoi when you get food from Nigerian restaurants. Hot food wrapped in plastic, but hey…
Not sure if I'm being filtered out by location or if the link is broken but I can't get through to the survey. Microplastics are a major issue for us for sure. With the way plastics are, it might take forever to reverse the trend. Thats not an excuse to let it be though.
Hi there. My questions for you and your team's food of thought, Femi Joshua, are: 1. Before eating seafoods/ land animals that consume them, people thoroughly wash the seafoods/ other meats from land animals that consume plastics indirectly via cutting open and removing all dirts and then cleaning with salt further, so doesn't that mean any plastic/s consumed by the sea species is/are removed and hence not eaten by consumers? Even for land animals that consume 2. The sea species that do eat plastics dumped into the bodies of various waters, don't they die immediately? (Even the land animals that consume plastics indirectly). So dead meats cannot be eaten as I want to believe people know that they will fall ill, or have you or your team encountered people who have eaten such without knowledge of them fallen ill due to that? 3. What will happen to plastics if left for other options such as glass, papers? Recall that glass is heavy and breakable, so reason why people don't use that option often nowadays, and prefer plastic which is light in weight, to put their products in and easily carry them in bulk without fear of breakage nor tiredness from lifting them daily. Recall that papers such as brown paper bags are tearable and can get wet and damage products placed inside in seconds, hence why people don't like paper bags even if it's eco friendly and still prefer plastics that are functional for packages. I ask these questions as I want to help you and your team by redirecting your good research to rather focus on how plastics can be used to make items that are not used for consumption purposes such as plastic plates, cups, spoons, forks and knives as if it touches heat ,it's chemical reaction formed is very toxic, and that's one way researches have proven cancer is gotten. Also to think along the line of what other new plastic item/s can be made, that cannot be burnt too so that very toxic chemical is not produced into the air as people can still inhale it hence another way people get illness as serious as cancer or sickness if not regularly in the air, but just crushed only when plastics get old and sent to recycling factories, where new ways of recycling them won't cause very toxic chemicals into the air that can also be another way of making people get cancer . Then most importantly to think of interesting creative ways of how to educate and encourage people not to throw plastic/s no matter the sizes into bodies of waters such as streams, lakes, rivers, seas and oceans due to the consequences of sea species dying and people starving to death from no food if that's what they have available to them only and also people's source of income lost.
All encouragement to femi but he could use a lot more study on the factual implications microplastic pollution. And Idiolesa Sacchaiensis (can't remember the correct spelling), I suggest is the best global solution. And promoting biodegradable plastic too. Will fill survey . ❤ Adeola. Keep on.
That survey was missing one vital thing: giving the respondents the opportunity to make comments and suggestions. I have several suggestions to make but the option wasn't there
Imagine this teen doing this. If say he is in Nigeria would he ever be opportune to get into the university at his age? And these old schools here say university admission should only be at 21-23?
That would be a helpful research that can influence consumer behaviour towards sea food. Go on Nubian! But you should be making more of meat pie now not fish pie. 😅
My worry is that most governments are not doing anything to provide alternatives to the masses. And those even doing something, are not really doing much but to pick the boxes as standards met. I believe if this were to generate income for the governments, it could have been a different story from where we are presently. Where are the corporate responsibilities? And the animal right here?
This needs to be corrected! Your clothes release enough microfibres that you breathe daily... In fact, our published work (American Chemical Society) in 2021 demonstrated that we consume more plastics from textiles than we can ever know!
