Artists young and old including Gregory Isaacs, Toots Frederick, Bunny Wailer, Elephant Man, Bounty Killer, Third World, Tanya Stephens and Capleton throw light upon the islands unique culture with performances from participating artists.
Reggae music sprang into life in the 70s, it was the first time that a third world country had made its voice heard on such a large scale. The dancehall music movement, emerging from reggae, is drawing large crowds across the globe. At its origin, the dancehall concept is heavily influenced by religious overtones. Like rap music, dancehalls message is powerful and straightforward, with lyrics about sex, violence, and social issues.
The film starts with the murder of one of dancehalls leading stars, Bogle, which kicks off this raw, passionate and compelling documentary on the history and evolution of the reggae and dancehall music scene in Jamaica. This isn't dancehall...so that's why it isn't "the outrageous dancehall stuff". I wish everyone would open their mind to all music offered - i love this but i love the dancehall featured on the video/documentary "Made in Jamaica" which is where this clip is from. It's a performance at the funeral procession for "Bogle" - a dancehall icon. So i'd say Gregory here is giving honor to someone heavy in the outrageous dancehall scene! :) But yes this is ridiculously awesome BAD roots reggae! Love IT

The first REGGAE song "I" heard at the age of 12 after Robert Nest Marley a.k.a Bob Marley I shot the sheriff was NIGHT NURSE by The Cool Ruler SIr Gregory Isaacs and I have been following the likes since. Mr Isaacs music will always live on in my heart and soul and mind. R.I.P one of our GREAT LEGENDS. What makes this real hard for me is that on 17February2011 I just saw Made in Jamaica and I wonder what was Gregory doing now and I googles him. Now I wish I would have not even read this.
