These were my dudes 'round the Build Wisdom year ('82)...I was 'bout 8 yrs. old, 'n fell in love afta "Buffalo Gals"!!! These brothaz were ridiculous...
I would give anything to hear more of these shows... I'm a white boy who grew up in a quiet (boring) neighbourhood and Hiphop has been a portal into another world... pre-2000's for the most part... so joyful and soulful, always reaching towards a universal dream of beautiful ineffable wonder.
Yes indeed.. up till 2am dozing off with ya finger on the pause button for quick response in the ready position....... This is a lot of music for the show, it was five minutes before they started talking. This is good b/c there was plenty of shout outs and talkin.. the best music in the world at the time yes, the WORLD. Thanks for this post.
This is so official. We need more. This brings back so many memories. And the ill part is a lot of people think Rakim and Brand Nubian were the first god bodies in hip hop. That's non cipher! They get props true indeed but the World Famous Supreme team were the first!
Peace to the Gods C- Divine The Master Mind and Just Allah The Superstar. Even though they did alot of talking they were smooth with it and always reached out to the callers. One of the best shows ever. After coming back from hanging on the Deuce, this show was the perfect night cap for a Saturday night/ early Sunday morning
SUCH MEMORIES, I USED TO HAVE TO LISTEN TO THEM WITH MY BOOMBOX UNDER THE COVERS B-CUZ I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SLEEP TO GET UP FOR SCHOOL THE NEXT DAY, LOL.
It's Heavy Vibes by the Montana Sextet. There are quite a number of versions running different times. Vincent Montana was the mastermind behind it. Top tune from '82. UK dj's sometimes mixed it with Touch Keep On on the pirate shows.

I plyed those tapes to death and my moms caught wind of "EVERYBODY KNOWS...THAT THE BLACK MAN IS GOD.
