Hi Jules! I have only just stumbled upon your channel, but wanted to say thank you so much for taking the time to film these vintage Penguin walk-throughs. Such a wonderful resource and I am really enjoying hearing your insights and recommendations along the way 😊
Wow this is super interesting!! I love how big the penguin is lol, the spines look really cute when they are all together, sadly in my country we only have the normal black editions and a couple series of classics from my country in a orange color.
@@JulesBurt Brazil, i just checked it out and we do have a couple special series with different colors, however our traditional black editions are really limited compared to the english version… to the point where some “classics” dont even exist in portuguese ☹️
#20 is very interesting to us New Zealanders. It is a high country sheep station in Canterbury New Zealand. Based on Butler's time here in the early 1860s, he was at Erewhon and another station called Mesopotamia. Butler returned to the UK in the mid 1860s and was known as a homosexual too, having man to man affairs with lonely shepherds here.
Very interesting, Jules. Do you actually read them? My own collection (much more meagre than yours) is so delicate that I daren't open them now! I particularly collect war editions with their adverts for Andrews' Salts and Black Cat cigarettes!
The Green Aeriel is the rarest, just 3 copies known to exist. Mysterious Affair At Styles, The Thin Man are pretty tough. Glad you enjoyed the video, check out the playlist🙂
Smashing collection, Jules, those penguins in dust jacket are very scarce and lovely books, looking forward to your future penguin videos!
Thanks Gary, will be another nine videos in that series to complete the first 1000.
Looking forward to them all, great videos and info!

My pleasure Lee, glad you're enjoying the videos. There's plenty of Penguin content on the channel to lose yourself in. 🙂
Nice history and collection there!👍🏻Enjoyed it
Thanks Danny, three decades in the making 🙂👍
Wow, thank you so much for making this video! I covet your collection, it's extraordinary.
Thanks my friend👍🙂

Right, well of course, these are the really early editions, whereabouts do you live?

Fantastic information, thanks for that. I had no idea👍

Impossible to read them all of course but I do read what I can👍
Great
Thanks!
Jules, thanks for a great video. Which of these first hundred particularly were the most difficult to come by? Are any of them rarer than any others?
The Green Aeriel is the rarest, just 3 copies known to exist. Mysterious Affair At Styles, The Thin Man are pretty tough. Glad you enjoyed the video, check out the playlist🙂
@@JulesBurt Thanks for your response, Jules. The 'Mysterious Affair at Styles' you mention, is it number 6 or number 61 that's rare, or both?
And you start the video with one of the green Ariels!
The number 6 is hardest to find but it's the wartime greens that are amongst the scarest, numbered 300 to 500.
@@JulesBurt Thanks, Jules...
How's did you get the earlier collection? Where did you look for them?
You can find them online but these have taken three decades to put together.
@@JulesBurt online like eBay or something?
Yep, eBay has plenty.
I'm looking for a Tape or CD for Success with English The Penguin Coursebook 1.
Not something I have sorry. Amazon or eBay is your best bet.
May I ask the dimensions?
Standard A format paperback.
