William Loose was another one that did a bunch of tunes for NFL films. For many years, I thought it was Sam Spence on some of the tunes. Dave Volsky has hundreds on his youtube channel that were never released. All good.
Luke Berninger IKR? I played a ton of Madden 06 as a kid and heard these songs often, so Sam Spence's music floods me with nostalgia. Such great melodies!
Sam Spence has made this music a permanent companion with football in my eyes. Oh how ironic it is that he has unfortunately passed away on the eve of SB 50, marking half a century of the legendary Super Bowl.
Husky Fan in Mass Well I would expect that if Sam Spence knew he was going to die on the eve of Super Bowl 50, he would say that that is the opposite of when he really expected to die.
I sent Sam Spence a fan e-mail after I bought the Autumn Wind box set and he kindly responded. We e-mailed a few times about growing up in San Francisco. RIP Sam.
Millennial here, It took me forever to find the name of this song, but I'm so glad I did. I would always whistle it as my qb shuffled in the pocket and threw a bomb. pure magic
This song not only has meant tons when watching football, but also it played a major role in those tough mornings a few years ago when I had pretty nothing to rely on. Looking back to it now, I almost envy my younger self for such a drive. This tune feels almost like a calling for battle. It moves my deepest sense of survival and strength. It makes me feel relentless.
The NFL during the 1970s - Amazing! I remembered watching NFL films with this song playing as the film focuses on amazing running backs such as: Dallas' Duane Thomas, Miami's Larry Csonka, and Pittsburgh's Franco Harris running through holes for big gains. Thank you for the memories Sam Spence. You will forever be missed and never forgotten.
I had just watched Doug Heffernan set the record in consecutive delivery days without incidents for IPS. I looked this song up and the doorbell rang... it was the UPS guy bringing me a package. True heroes of our times
Larry Csonka running the fuck over the Minneosta Vikings defense in Superbowl 7. I'm sure everyone can relate this song to certain NFL Films but that's mine.
This song has so many parts and instruments doing their parts, it's absolute brilliance. Sam Spence is like a head coach, instructing each musician to doing their job and the end result is like a Superbowl victory. Autumn Wind is right there with this one. Don't forget about Blockbuster by Sam Spence, another brilliant tune. The man should be in the HOF.
There was nothing like this hearing this music on NFL films back in the day The 80s and 70s NFL films I used to watch them on Sundays Before the NFL pregame show came on . There’s nothing like hearing this on a crispy cool fall weekend especially Sunday it really gets you in the mood hearing this legendary.
On Saturdays as kids we would watch "This Week in Pro Football" with Pat Summeral and Tom Brookshire. They played all the highlights of the previous weeks games with this fantastic music. We were so pumped! The show would end with the song "Rainbows to the End Zone" while we gathered our gear, the ball (a Pete Rozelle pro model) and headed to the field to play till we were exhausted.
As a Vikings fan we are so damn fortunate to have Jefferson. Dude came in and energized the team, and now that Zimmer is gone I’m hoping a new coach plays to his strengths and energy.
Football is the closest thing we'll have to gladiators fighting terf wars, and sam spence captured that mood of fierce yet "friendly" combat perfectly. If there's a perfect soundtrack in existence, it's Spence's catalog of nfl music. Forever remember the bard of American football.
Smash mouth football at its best. We used to watch the highlight reels on Friday nights on one of the three Channels. It was the best. No replays, and the QB was fair game. Man I miss those days.
My goodness..... THIS is the coolest music imaginable!!! One of the greatest sounds of my youth!! I NEVER missed "NFL Game Of The Week",with John Facenda.. Just a great memory!! FANTASTIC!!
This song brings back so many memories as a kid growing up during the 70s and 80s. Free agency, the salary cap and new, softer rules have ruined this League. There will be no more dynasties.
+Bleed Black And Gold I know you found this almost a year ago, but I could NOT find this song. I would sing it to people to see if they knew the name of it. Almost everyone knew the song, but nobody knew what it was called. Now I found it, but I can't find it on i-Tunes.
was the starting center for my school's very small football team for 2 seasons. when we couldn't hold a team anymore due to low turnout, I turned to be a soccer goalie. needless to say, size and aggression was both on my side ;)
An absolute gem. This is when you could actually hit the QB without being penalized for breathing too hard on him. After hearing this in its entirety I now have a beard and more chest hair.
The SPICE OF LIFE!!!!! The EPIC of ETERNITY!!!!! FOOTBALL SEASON is BACK!!!!!!!! 2012!!!!! Shout out to all NFL fans!!!! American Football is the greatest sport on Earth.
This song truly is the national anthem of football.
Absolutely...THANK YOU!! That crap they put out years ago with Hank Williams and now with Carrie Underwood is garbage.
And 99% of people sadly do not know the name of this song because of ishkabibble greed.

Its my favorite song, period
How lucky are those of us who grew up in this era of football and NFL Films!
slick1ru2 agreed, because it sucks now!

Nah. It was good, but today is good too. Football is Football, and it always was and always will be Football
@Martin S those are the guys that did the Autumn Wind song, I wish I was alive in the era of great football
My favorite NFL song ever. There’s not even a close second.
This one cracks my top 3. Along with The Raiders and Classic Battle
Sir I raise you “The Equalizer” , another Sam Spence great.
Bulding a champion by David Robidoux is mine. As for Sam Spance, I would say Final Quest.
Amen to that! Pony Soldiers 2nd
what abt sunday night football?
Sam Spence, whether anyone or he himself knew it, was one of the most important composers of the 20th century. He will live on forever.
NFL Films cheated him out of royalties on his music.
LEGEND
I think you're almost right, it's actually John Williams
William Loose was another one that did a bunch of tunes for NFL films. For many years, I thought it was Sam Spence on some of the tunes. Dave Volsky has hundreds on his youtube channel that were never released. All good.
Spence was famous however, for "borrowing" from other musical pieces. It varied from slightly being similar to an absolute "knock off".

These NFL films songs give me the chills. Football really is the ultimate gladiator and theatrical sport out there. This song defines the NFL.
Me too, have to have for ringtone
It used to good grief they girled it up when my dad was a kid and young adult football was played by real men
Take it easy with the gladiator stuff, but definitely correct on the theatrical part lol
It's like Barry Sanders. Juke, juke, juke juke BURST. I wish they had this music in Madden still, it's real classy.
Luke Berninger IKR? I played a ton of Madden 06 as a kid and heard these songs often, so Sam Spence's music floods me with nostalgia. Such great melodies!
madden 07 i muted all the other songs on the soundtrack and would play these when i played, the good ol days haha
Will Fudge me too!
Hate the rap shit they play in those madden games.
They don't have it...I don't play anymore but there was a setting you can switch all the music over to sams football music...I love it.
Sam Spence has made this music a permanent companion with football in my eyes. Oh how ironic it is that he has unfortunately passed away on the eve of SB 50, marking half a century of the legendary Super Bowl.
A Legend
+HawkingRegime How is it "ironic"?
Husky Fan in Mass Well I would expect that if Sam Spence knew he was going to die on the eve of Super Bowl 50, he would say that that is the opposite of when he really expected to die.
He should compare horror movie music!
Well, because it is what it is....how ya like that one daaaaawg....,)
When you wake up and it's NFL Sunday football

Best feeling in the world.
I never gave a shit once the games came on. Jon Facenda and NFL Films drove my love for this spectacular music!
Remember when Madden games only had NFL music?
This song reminds me of getting my roster all perfect and getting hyped to play the game!
Those were the best Madden games that had this type of music.
I sent Sam Spence a fan e-mail after I bought the Autumn Wind box set and he kindly responded. We e-mailed a few times about growing up in San Francisco. RIP Sam.
This is the song i listen too when im running late to work after dropping off the kids at school...
To me the song that plays is "Torpedo" also by Sam Spence.
The Equalizer is what comes into my mind.
Lmao😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
I play this song whenever I have diarrhea.
Lol

Love that show
Hahahahah yes!!!!!!!
I'm fron Europe so the connection to football is zero for me.
For me it always gives a feeling of humorous things that could happen.
You know its over when you hear those trombones at the beginning
We obviously both have football on the brain.
Incredible horn section, mind blowing bass line, coupled with perfect percussion. This is pure rock.
Sam Spence made me NFL fan!
Marin Neshev Is that right?

Jon Wiley don’t identify yourself as millennial. No other group does it and neither should you. Resist right wing generational jihad.
Your comment cracked me up... Loved playing football as a kid
I can imagine a running back sprinting to the end zone with this song.
I remember playing NFL 2K5 and this would be the only song i would have on lol brings back memories man on PS2
Same but with madden
This is a masterpiece.
Ed and Steve Sabol, John Facenda, and Sam Spence is what made NFL Films great.
Takes me back to my childhood i love this fuckin song
They need to use this song more often
BEST SONG EVER
John Facenda - The Broncos passed out turnovers like a department store Santa Clause and the hustling Cowboys scooped up the goodies.
Amazing how NFL Films could make such great work out of a lousy, turnover ridden game like Super Bowl XII
Randy Hughes four turnovers ...two fumble recoveries and two interceptions
Well… at least it’s symbolic.
@@antonewilson4310 should have been MVP
The end of that SB 12 highlight, when Landry is up on their shoulders...*tears*
Impossible to not get goosebumps while hearing this 🥰🥰
Bring this back!
This song is so nostalgic it brings tears to my eyes
This is the GOAT of all NFL music
The real NFL, where men loose a teeth and still played. Where men shed blood and sweat in the fields, for us. 👏🏾
Bring these back today!
2021 and this is still music to my ears. I loved NFL Films and listening to Steve Sabol. Man I miss these days.
RIP Legendary Football.
Legendary continues, in an evolving way. The current will be classic in 50 years. And that generation will be responsible for carrying the torch.
LETS GOOOOO LEGENDARY FOOTBALL
This is one of my faves
I'm 46 and coach youth football....We bring the kids out on this song during homecoming every year!
Some of this got used in the original 60's Spiderman cartoon, along with some cool jazz.

Man this tune really gets you pumped for some football
I remember Madden 06(?) used to let you toggle on NFL films music and I used to to just listen to this non stop while playing madden
This is my commute to work music. There's an uphill where I see the sunrise. With this in my speakers I just feel a beautiful energy running inside.
Glad to know I’m not the only one

what a great song for low brass

By far the king of NFL songs. This belonged in a John Wayne cowboy classic. This is as All-American as it gets.
Sam Spence and NFL Films.
When legends unite.
Almost brings me to tears hearing these songs . Grew up in the 70's watching the highlights on Saturday of the Sunday games and hearing these jams
Legendary song.
Never thought I'd find this song again lol
This honestly brings a tear to my eye because it reminds me of watching football highlights with my friends and family growing up...
I don't even care for American football, but how I loved watching HBO specials with this music growing up.
This made you want to be a football player. It was awesome watching the highlights to this music.
This song is oozes with testosterone.
