Out of the dark we came, out of the sea, Where the long wave broke on the shore, As the day broke and the night rolled back, There we stood on the land we would call home. Out of the dark we came, out of the night, The first of many moons in this new place, When the sun rolled back the mist, We rose like a stong wave on land, Now WE were the people of this place. What burns through the rain and the mist? What banishes dark? What makes the children straight and bright? What makes the mountain shout? The sun is our lord and father, Bright face at the break of day, Comfort of hope, cattle and crop, Lord of the morning, lord of the day. Lifting our hearts to sing his praise, Dance in his healing rays...
Okay bluecherry456 let's see if you remember this one! THUNDER AND LIGHTNING BATTER THE ROCKS! THE WINDS HOWL AND GREAT STORMS BREAK ON THE FORREST!!!!! SCATTER THE HERDS LIKE RAIN!!!! FIRE LEAPS FROM DARK TO DARK! FEAR AND ANGER LEAP TO MEET IT!!!!!!!!! WE WILL NOT GO DOWN!!!!! WE WILL NOT BE BEATEN DOWN LIKE RAIN!!!!!!!!
The first few minutes of this instrumental give me such an odd feeling, it's so beautiful. I don't quite know how to put it into words; perhaps pride, even though I'm not Irish? I just adore it.
I think the one theme that still sticks with me about "RiverDance" was its emphasis on the connection of all peoples through various forms of dance... all Cultures celebrating dance as a medium for expression. So... it was universal, for everyone. :)
I can tell you the first time I heard the music of Riverdance it made me feel as though my soul came alive. I am an Irish American 2nd generation on my mother’s side and longer on my fathers side. I had this soundtrack with me on cd for years including when I lived in Edinburgh, Scotland for 3 years.
I didn't come here because of Jason Brown. I grew up watching this VHS, but I'm glad this childhood memory led me to Jason Brown. Crazy good ice skater. Love both.
My Grandfather on my Dad's side, who was born in Ireland in the mid 1890's, would "have loved" this song - I played it repeatedly yesterday to "celebrate" ST. PATRICK'S DAY - (along with the whole RIVERDANCE album) - "KEEP ENJOYING THE SOUNDS OF JAZZ" (along with good "Irish Music")
Man if you know this you had to have been a 90s kid. So many memories of my parents playing this sound track circa 95-98. This song really does rock... Even if it sounds like the soundtrack to Patriot Games.
I’m a big fan of this I first saw it in the early 90s and even today when I hear it I still get goose bumps been Irish makes it more special real talent on stage never before or will there again be anything like it
Anytime I listen to this, I must dance. I grew up with this music and it is still one of the best songs I have ever heard. (Not a 90s kid, I'm gen z, but my mom played this all the time.)
I found this song because of Jason Brown. He did an outstanding job at the U.S. Championships. He represents the U.S. well. His energy and enthusiasm should be an inspiration to everyone!
I am. well kind of. I was looking for this certain tune that played at the theatre once and my mum said that it was Michael flatley so I went looking for that and found this. still cant tell to this day if its the right one or not. 2:42 until 5:00 I thought that was it lol
Ha ha, no! I'm also here because of Michael freaking Flatley. Love hearing his individual taps in this piece. We grew up with the music on cd, which I spent hours dancing too, and we had a VHS of the show too. I got to watch Riverdance about 5 years ago, (sans Flatley, unfortunately) as it finished up a tour in the US. I actually kept crying as the familiar songs came up: even though it was a smaller, less impressive troupe than the recorded version, it was quite a moving experience to watch it in person.
Thank you for posting this -- I wanted to learn the opening whistle solo for a gig I have tomorrow, and yours is the only recording of it I could find on TH-cam. It is so beautiful...Thank you!
All my Grandparents have or had Irish. I had Two Great Grandpa's that were Full Blood Irish...When I hear Irish Music, I can't sit still, I have to dance...It's in my Blood.
Doing this in my Irish dance show. I swear it is the best this on this planet. Listen to it before every feis. How I got to preliminary. The sun is our lord😂
Whenever I listen to this on TH-cam at work - I am immediately reminded of the fact that I was also listening to it on the CD Player in the car on the way to work.
I watched the original on our local PBS station and I was hooked on the music and dancing with Micheal Flatley and Jean Butler.and the taps of the Riverdance dance group.
I had a riverdance CD when i was little...Well my mom had one. Childhood memories are flooding Back. My Imagination is pumping Out so many Images right now its awesome Maybe this music can Help me to continue my writing
listen to any irish dance music to be honest lol the ones from shows are generally really upbeat like this so: riverdance, celtic tiger, lord of the dance soundtracks are good
I’m a professional Irish dancer and this music will get you dancing off your feet just keep practising and it will get you far it’s got me so far so get you thought I love this song because I can practice my Irish dancing I practice all the time non-stop but at the moment I’ve not been feeling well so I’m been stopping dancing I’ll be back on the road tomorrow keep on practising and keep yourself safe from the lockdown even if you’ve got a spare place to do it outside in the back garden or anything like that
It's weird how people know this song. If you're a skating fan, you're here because of Jason Brown. If you're a gymnastics fan, you're here because of Andreea Raducan.
🙌 Out of the darkness, we came. Out of The Light and on to the shores of Heaven we marched! GWP✊😎🔥 Hail Caesar! Come out of Her a and be ye separate! A chosen and Royal generation. (Paraphrasing as my mind escapes me from time to time). 😉
And thus, he rose in the first rays of a new sunrise... a new day... And he rode valiantly to an eternal tomorrow. His hopes and his courage kept burning in his heart. He could foresee... The battles were there. And he was ready.
Actually, the first few minutes is a dialogue that isn't featured on the CD. It's an EPIC dialogue, at that!(: But close. Everything is, though, apart of the actual show.
One thing that I can't stand about the new versions of Reel Around the Sun is the mixing. Yes it sounds clearer but it has almost no dynamics like the original 1995. 4:44 sounds weak in the new version and the tap dancing rhythms have little to know impact. Older mixes make you want to turn the music up. Try and find a modern song that does this. More than likely you'll want to turn it down because it sounds so harsh and squashed.
I can't sit at my computer and listen to this without getting up and irish dancing all over the room! This music moves my soul...and my feet!
I want to learn Irish dancing. 😔

Nathan Joerndt love this one!
This made me laugh so hard..
Why is everyone shouting in here? Calm down!
The first few minutes of this instrumental give me such an odd feeling, it's so beautiful. I don't quite know how to put it into words; perhaps pride, even though I'm not Irish? I just adore it.
Natures wonder is how I picture it, either the rolling fields or the the wintery valleys from atop a mountains peak
Hauntingly beautiful...like the raw communication between mankind and nature. Ancient magic at work just beneath the surface of reality.
I look at it as it's building up your anticipation, knowing that it's going to give the audience something special.
Love, tenasity, a will to win.
I'm Russian so I don't have a single drop of Irish blood but this makes me want to be Irish xD
Salute to all Irish people :D
High-functioning Sociopath well u never know we Irish have been around the planet quite a bit
I am American with about 50 % Irish Roots.
What kind of tree grows Irish Roots?
I think the one theme that still sticks with me about "RiverDance" was its emphasis on the connection of all peoples through various forms of dance... all Cultures celebrating dance as a medium for expression. So... it was universal, for everyone. :)
You can be Irish on St paddy’s day!
Thank You, Jason Brown, for leading me here...
And Congratulations...

I'm listening to this while writing a paper. It's actually very motivating. I'm not even into Irish dancing that much, but this song is EPIC.
+Musickt196 I listened to it, well actually Jason Brown's FS to it to help me meditate before tests that I'm extremely nervous about.
The intro music makes me cry, and I grew up with this on VHS, there's just so much emotion being channeled into playing that flute. >,~,
Same 😅
same ❤
I didn't come here because of Jason Brown. I grew up watching this VHS, but I'm glad this childhood memory led me to Jason Brown. Crazy good ice skater. Love both.
His riverdance gave me life 🙌🏻
Such an outstanding performance by Jason Brown and to such a beautiful song xx
absolute fan of Riverdance .reel round the sun puts chill's up my spine.

I swear I'm a leprechaun whenever I hear this I MUST DANCE
DITTO!!!!!!!!
Spotify removed this perfect 1995 recording of reel around the sun, so expect this video to get at least 1 million views from me this year
Perfect Irish piece for the Eclipse!!! Proud to be 50% Irish American!!!

same i am trying to teach myself the steps to this dance to make my irish ancestors proud
Rika Hongo won the Finlandia Trophy 2015 with this music.
I found this song because of Jason Brown. He did an outstanding job at the U.S. Championships. He represents the U.S. well. His energy and enthusiasm should be an inspiration to everyone!
Am I the only one here because of Michael freaking flatley? Because wow
I am. well kind of. I was looking for this certain tune that played at the theatre once and my mum said that it was Michael flatley so I went looking for that and found this. still cant tell to this day if its the right one or not. 2:42 until 5:00 I thought that was it lol
Marasaurus no because I am too
#metoo

colin dunne surpasses flatley

Jason Brown's performance wouldn't have been so outstanding without such an awesome piece of music.
I'm pretty sure they perfectly fit together and made each other better.
Doing this in my Irish dance show. I swear it is the best this on this planet. Listen to it before every feis. How I got to preliminary.
The sun is our lord😂
This reminds me of my childhood! ♥♡♥
Bill Whelan's magnificent music is the true star of Riverdance.
Whenever I listen to this on TH-cam at work - I am immediately reminded of the fact that I was also listening to it on the CD Player in the car on the way to work.
I remember I was only a very little child when I watched this on TV, this is very nostalgic music to me!
No other music in the world captivates me in such a way that is almost indescribable ☘️
The sound of taps and the style of the music almost makes me think of two guys competing for the affections of a fair maiden.
msmissjordan1 They do something similar in Countess Kathleen, I think.
There's something based on that, isn't there? Tap vs irish dance it's called I think. With 2 black dudes and 3 white dudes
Trading Taps is what you’re thinking about.
this music lights my soul afire
Check out Jason brown a skater who skated to this song
He killed it it brought tears to my eyes at age 19 WOW
He sure did!!! WOW
He was awesome at the U.S. Championships. His enthusiasm was priceless.
He's definitely a skater to be reckoned with-- he's got "IT." And he's so sweet and so down-to-earth-- I'm a fan, for sure. :-D
I did and youre right incredible
I watched the original on our local PBS station and I was hooked on the music and dancing with Micheal Flatley and Jean Butler.and the taps of the Riverdance dance group.
This music makes me have flash backs before I moved to England! I just want to go back!! 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Very good
This is the best version.
I grew up on this... this is straight LEGENDARY!!!!
I had a riverdance CD when i was little...Well my mom had one. Childhood memories are flooding Back. My Imagination is pumping Out so many Images right now its awesome
Maybe this music can Help me to continue my writing
I’m sure it can
I usually listen to metal and rock, but this is just great.Love it.
The irish music provokes that not irish people wish to be irish people.
Se siente desde Chile 💚
JASON BROWN
I loved his performance!!!
Exactly, simply amazing
That’s why I’m here.
Memories of the VHS flowing back with this song. Along with the disappointment in every remake.
Thanks to Jason Brown.... anyone knows more celtic music like this? The speedness of it it's awesome
listen to any irish dance music to be honest lol the ones from shows are generally really upbeat like this so: riverdance, celtic tiger, lord of the dance soundtracks are good
MrLeonor "Thunderstorm" is another number in the show. It's shorter, but has a good beat. I'd just keep looking at Riverdance's soundtrack!
Listen to toss the feathers by the corrs
The original river dance song by bill Whelan eurovision 1994
Je travaille déçu en musique et j’adore ça me détend et m’entraîne à la fois j’aime trop 😍

If you're a gymnastics fan, you're here because of Andreea Raducan.
Yeah.. i know this song because i used to watch Riverdance when it came out on TV and recorded it on our vcr
I remember this from when I was little. The Jason Brown performance just reminded me about it
SxyChicDisney Same here!!! I was raised on Riverdance and Enya; when I saw Jason's performance I nearly cried with nostalgia as much as awe ahahah
Well I'm an irish dancer so I just heard it a while ago
Yeah, I know it from Raducan's 2000 routine.
I've been looking everywhere for this! YEAH!
Andreea Raducan
The original Riverdance song.
Micheal Flatley and Jean Butler.
This is as Irish/Celtic magnificence at it's best. Unbelievable.
0:00 to 8:44 is the best part, though ;)
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet, this is one bad ass performance.
C'est la meilleure musique du monde 😍 merci RIVERDANCE

And thus, he rose in the first rays of a new sunrise... a new day... And he rode valiantly to an eternal tomorrow. His hopes and his courage kept burning in his heart. He could foresee... The battles were there. And he was ready.
