    Very helpful video on kipping a pull up. To the kipping naysayers - I'm doing these at age 62 gaining great conditioning from them and thanks to videos like this one I'm injury free. Thanks again!

      Try doing real pullups and actual strength and conditioning training, of which CrossShit does neither.

    Thanks a lot for the very detailed tutorial on kipping pull ups.
    I've been suffering during WODs trying to do strict pull ups which wear you out too quickly during an AMRAP with more than 10 pullups a round.

  • @345kobi
    @345kobi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    These are questions - not criticism:
    1 Appears to be using momentum rather than the strength of a regular pull-up.
    2 Looks dangerous for shoulder injury.
    Thanks

    Great tutorial. KPU is an efficient way to move and has its place on movement training, while strict pull ups have a role in muscle building. They are different and dont replace one another per se.

      The "pushing" tip was particularly helpful. I'm not even very fond of Cross Fit overall (too high risk of injury and overall too catabolic for anyone above 28/30 years old), but there's something to learn everywhere with people from all walks of life, we should be open and try to see what are the "goals" of each exercise / training routine / workout / etc. And this is great :)

    • @larryshrekker916
      @larryshrekker916 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Movement training? Give me a break, stronger muscles move easier.

    • @mosiowaty1573
      @mosiowaty1573 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@larryshrekker916 I'd like to see a proffessional addressing this topic - what is "movement training"? I certainly disagree with "stronger muscles move easier", there are multiple parameters of strenght and one of them is "dynamic strength" (whatever precisely that means). Another fact is that yoked people tend to be slower, you could see it when a strongman Mariusz Pudzianowski tried MMA. Too much strength is not functional in more dynamic situations

    • @Monscent
      @Monscent 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      "place on movement training" What the fuck? The only reason to do a kipping pullup is to be able to do more reps. With a crappy form with high risk of injury and strain. You dont gain "movement" from it.

    Great video, I doubt the negative people have ever even tried a KPU, probably don't realize how technical it actually is or that crossfit also does strict pull-ups and differentiates between the two. Also probably don't realize that a KPU would have greater carry over to real life. I'm tryin to get into these, would you say that the hip motion is similar to initiating a kettlebell swing?

      Do not confuse this with a strict pull up. It is not meant to help improve or strengthen strict pull ups. It's a kipping pull up (spelled out in the title). It's a skill movement. With that being said, it takes a lot of skill, coordination, strength, and body awareness to kip. Kipping is common in both CrossFit and the sport of gymnastics.
