    Sharptools rookie question. I am creating a rule that when device a temp rises above x, device b changes lamp colour. I select Command setColor, and it asks for Input argument 1 followed by {} {foo: bar}.
    I have not been able to work out what it wants me to put. With Webcore I could just put RED

      I have not worked with this particular parameter previously so I am not sure. The SharpTools community is extremely helpful and responsive. Just create a login and enter your question there and someone will be sure to give you the proper direction. Hi again Bud, I've got my smart meter running on smartthings using Chameleon. I've created a tile for it on sharptools. What attribute should I give it to be able to see the readings on sharptools to reflect the meter display as closely as possible?

    • @BudsSmartHome

      Apparently, SharpTools added a mapping feature that is specific to Temperature Sensor tiles, article here: community.sharptools.io/t/style-icon-state-mapping-for-custom-attributes/4163
      To test this I added my ThirdReality Thermal and Humidity sensor to SharpTools. For the Style setting I changed Hero Content to 'Value' and saved that setting. I then selected to edit the tile and selected 'Change Layout'. Within the 'Pick a New Layout' menu I chose 'Hero Attribute'. I then tapped the three dots on the tile to enter 'The Editor' and verified that the option to 'Show Units' was checked. I then clicked on the 'Icon' selection and tapped the tile that reads 'Icon States'. I clicked on the 'Advanced' slider and then tapped on "ADD STATE". I left the Attribute set on Temperature and selected the following 3 states: 90 (Red Tile Color); else (Orange Tile Color).
      Note: To get the 'Target' to populate you simply remove all values from the fields. So conditions are checked from top to bottom and if the device temperature is not equal to or below 32, and it does not exceed 90 degrees, then the tile will display the 'Target' "orange" tile color.
      To set the tile colors you must select the Style tile, check the box next to 'Custom Style', under 'Colors' select "Tile" and choose your color and tap the button "USE STYLE". When the color on all three tiles is set, tap done and then save your settings.
      My tile was registering the temperature at 78F and displaying orange. I went up and ran my hair dryer on the sensor to cause it to register over 90 degrees. I checked the tile and it had turned red.
      I hope this helps? Let me know...

    Is there any way to integrate Blink cameras into a smart home ecosystem? I have a smartthings hub and a variety of zwave devices (door/window sensors, ecolink motion and tilt sensors, etc), and I have tried everything. So far, the only system that talks to Blink is Alexa, but the automation features are extremely limited. Only one condition and action per rule. I really don't want to replace Blink if I don't have to.

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe integration of cameras to into SharpTools is very limited. I would recommend however that your reach out to the SharpTools community to inquire about compatibility. Inquire here: community.sharptools.io/

      @@BudsSmartHome After setting up and experimenting with Sharp Tools I have decided to go with this app. It is VERY nice, easy to use, and practically no learning curve. I will just use Blink as a separate system and maybe get a different brand camera that works with Sharp Tools. Check out the sample dashboards to see what others are doing. I am very impressed with this system. Thank you!

    Thanks for the Sharptools intro Bud. It is looking like the most promising alternative to webcore, given the Groovy EoL and my limited dev skills and enthusiasm for buying another hub.
    When I connect Smartthings in the Sharptools web ui and give it access to Home, I don't see all the devices listed individually. Just 4 global heading with tickboxes for Devices, Locations, Rules and Scenes.
    Has this changed since you recorded it, or am I missing something?

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So you need to open your SharpTools SmartApp within SmartThings and select the individual devices that you wnat to make available in SharpTools. Did you do that? Also, you need to make sure once in the Sharptools.io application that you open your Home Location and an click on the "Check Subscriptions" button on the bottom of the screen.

      @@BudsSmartHome it looks like they have removed the facility to add smart apps. I found a link that said go to +routine > discover but that only allows a canned list. You can't add your own.

    Can you show us how you added all those devices? I am following this and see you had echo dot as an option, why am I not seeing this? Can i only use this with samsung smartthings? I thought this could be a universal software that manages many diff smart devices.... I dont see my nest thermostats, my alexa, my echo, my gosund smart plugs, my smart switches. If you could make a vid on how to add devices as well that'd be great.

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Christopher. Thank you for your questions. The capability for Alexa devices and for the wireless devices that are connected to Alexa was obtained through an app called Echo Speaks. Unfortunately, Echo Speaks is no longer supported under the new SmartThings app. The way to control devices connected to Alexa, i.e. wireless devices, is by way of a virtual switch. I have several videos that I made showing how to set up virtual switches. Virtual switches allow you to be able to control things across incompatible platforms. Currently I am unaware of any way to directly connect Amazon Alexa devices to either SmartThings or SharpTools. Again that capability went away when EchoSpeaks lost SmartThings support.

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christopher, Here is a video giving an example on how to create and use a virtual switch to cause your Echo device to make a statement when something happens on within your SmartThings App. th-cam.com/video/3aVHQBeF5Ik/w-d-xo.html This specific video has my Echo Dot welcome my Sweetheart whenever her presence is detected by the SmartThings App. I use that same virtual switch in this video, th-cam.com/video/3GHrIMgOwMk/w-d-xo.html to auto trigger guard mode in Alexa when we all leave home. The point being, once you create these switches, the switches can be shared with SparpTools thereby giving you the ability to control your Echo devices from within the SharpTools app. I like SharpTools for multi-step routines (rules) that involve many devices. You can detect a specific member's arrival home, open the garage door, and have an Alexa device greet them personally, and do this all in one rule. You can replicate this in SmartThings, of course, but doing so requires several separate automations.
