    Keep healing, brother. God's got you. I know He's working through you. Some of the lines in here aren't what I would necessarily choose to share, but sometimes that's the point. God meets us exactly where we are, in the deepest darkest wells of tragedy, loss and hopelessness where there are no filters. That is the God we serve. Keep writing to Him, that's advice I would give to anyone struggling. Our God not only hears, He listens.

    Amazing song. Tbh the explicit made it feel very raw and human to me. I understand some people’s complaints, but it felt human to me. I’ve cursed in prayer, it’s not right, but it’s human and I think it shows the reality of pain and redemption in this song

    I've been listening to this song and know exactly what you're going through. I was also raised in a hyper-charasmatic church where "faith" was everything and no one dared to admit that they were human and flawed and ready to play chicken with a bus.
    Several years ago i stepped away from that teaching and found out that God sees and knows every single thing that we go through even when we feel like we've been thrown into the ocean and left to tread water. He's there. God is always there. Run to Him. Free falling. He knew and knows everything that will ever happen to His children and already has a plan in place for us. We just have to be patient and put ourselves in his hands. The Bible doesn't guarantee a perfect, blissful life here on earth. But, we are guaranteed eternity in heaven. That is where our treasure is.
    I also love you're worship songs and listen to them many times a day. They remind me of the majesty of our God and creator.

    I feel like this music is so much more relatable than 90% of Christian music. In my opinion most of the worship music in the Christian Genre is "victory" type music, that the battle is already won and we should be celebrating......but that's not where I feel the majority of the time. I need my faith, desperately, because I don't have the strength to take on each day otherwise. This is the first Christian song I've heard that actually conveys that. Life beats you down, but God gives you the strength to look forward with determination and know that there is a grander plan in store for you.

    I think what most people who listen to this song fail to realize is… Judah does not write his lyrics for you. He writes them as his own spiritual healing. As an offering to our creator (and to us if we find relatability) from a position of absolute authenticity. Doubt, praise, more doubt, but always more praise. This is his way of recognizing that the darkness in life is real, but we are gifted with the access to THE eternal light. I applaud him for this, fuck or no fuck, because I know it comes from a real place. Never change your authenticity for anyone other than Him, Judah. I don’t know what I would do without him, either.

    When we go through a storm, the only thing we can do is turn to God and trust Him.
    We dont get to miss out on pain and suffering just because we are children of God, we go through it because we are humans.
    But the difference between us and the world is that we have Jesus to give our pain to. We can of course have tantrums and be angry with God when He feels absent, but where else can we turn? If we turn to the world we can get likes, hearts, words and stories of comfort to us, but we know in our hearts that the only love and comfort we need is from God.
    God will heal our pain in HIS time, not ours. All we can do is to stand firm, be courages, strong and WAIT.
    When a brother or sister suffer, we can pray for them and try not to judge them.

    I'm a catholic priest, your music inspires me, some of your songs are the most beautiful and authentic christian music I've heard in a while...
    I understand this song can feel hard and raw, but while i was wondering the sense of the lyrics, this came to my heart:
    Psalm 88
    Lord, you are the God who saves me;
    day and night I cry out to you.
    2 May my prayer come before you;
    turn your ear to my cry.
    3 I am overwhelmed with troubles
    and my life draws near to death.
    4 I am counted among those who go down to the pit;
    I am like one without strength.
    5 I am set apart with the dead,
    like the slain who lie in the grave,
    whom you remember no more,
    who are cut off from your care.
    6 You have put me in the lowest pit,
    in the darkest depths.
    7 Your wrath lies heavily on me;
    you have overwhelmed me with all your waves.[d]
    8 You have taken from me my closest friends
    and have made me repulsive to them.
    I am confined and cannot escape;
    9 my eyes are dim with grief.
    I call to you, Lord, every day;
    I spread out my hands to you.
    10 Do you show your wonders to the dead?
    Do their spirits rise up and praise you?
    11 Is your love declared in the grave,
    your faithfulness in Destruction[e]?
    12 Are your wonders known in the place of darkness,
    or your righteous deeds in the land of oblivion?
    13 But I cry to you for help, Lord;
    in the morning my prayer comes before you.
    14 Why, Lord, do you reject me
    and hide your face from me?
    15 From my youth I have suffered and been close to death;
    I have borne your terrors and am in despair.
    16 Your wrath has swept over me;
    your terrors have destroyed me.
    17 All day long they surround me like a flood;
    they have completely engulfed me.
    18 You have taken from me friend and neighbor-
    darkness is my closest friend.

    Great song once again man. I drove to work this morning and cried to these lyrics. I was curious when I saw the explicit tag and I had a weird feeling you’d use the word exactly in a manner of where I am in my current situation. Not that you using the word is condoning it (because I don’t think that was your point) but just being at the end of yourself in this never ending cycle and crying out to Him to answer. Knowing who He is but dealing with dying to all of yourself and the battle in between.

      And one stupid word will prohibit the amount of people who will hear it. Why? It won't get shared as much because we all know it will offend most who otherwise we could have shared it. We are clearly told in scripture we do not go out of our way to offend over silly issues. We may believe it is permissible (most say it is unwholesome language & thus a sin) but why do it just to show we think it is permissible when we know it will be a distraction?
      Like if one were going to preach/teach in a church service would it be wise or unwise to drop the same F bomb in the message? Is it going to just distract & be all most will hear? Taking away from all the other words said & offending most to the message? Or just using another word & hoping they hear the rest of your words? This was silly & just a distraction for no reason.

      @@jtika1978 A few thoughts. The Bible is a book that tells stories about broken, messed up people. The Bible isn't "clean" in terms of imagery. It doesn't shy away from the messiness of life, even in some Christians think that it does. When I'm referring to Psalms, I'm talking about how David is crying out to God. In Philippians, Paul uses the word "skubala" which translates to "shit." In Isaiah 64, the passage speaks about our good works being like filthy rags - translated more accurately into menstural rags. There are also plenty of places in the Bible that wisely point us to avoiding foolish, filthy or unwholesome talk. God never prohibits specific words though. There is no list of curse words. I believe that God looks much more at the way the word is used (the intent) rather than the word itself. Also, culturally, words change over time. The way that Judah constructs his words reads a lot like a psalm to me, a time of deep grieving and questioning where is God? It feels like a brutally honest journal entry that he turned into a song. If you've been in a season of deep struggle - cancer, depression, divorce, abuse - cleaning up the words a lot of times might feel dishonest. Even the curse words fall short during those difficult times, but because of the weight those words hold - in the moment, they seem the most potent. I'm not saying it's a good practice. I am saying that God hears our pain, he meets us inside our pain, he can take our questions and even some of our "bad" words. Life, just like scripture - is not clean and tidy (despite what Christian radio stations want you to think). It can be deeply challenging, and full of suffering. It's in these times that we need to have compassion for others that are struggling. To meet others in the middle of their despair rather than kicking them when they're down. The last line of the song is powerful and sums up the hope that Judah has, despite the darkness around him. Jesus meets us in our mess. If we want to reflect Christ well, we need to do the same.

Redemption wouldn't be redemption with out fault. We should be honest with how we feel . from there is where you heal. If you guys want some watered down version of healing where you are left kinda ok then go ahead but if you want to be delivered from your pain its gonnna be messy. We as humans are messy and im tired of people pretending other wise. Not everybody wears ironed pjs to bed.
    If you are offended by the word *fuck* then most likely you are not the one he is trying to reach. The cool thing about it though is that some of you are gonna jump on your podcast and bash this song and its gonna blow up as controversy and it will reach exactly who it needs to.
    Judahs f bomb on this song reminds me of that one time Jesus on the cross said "Father why have you foresaken me?" The one time that Jesus took on sin it ended up freeing alot of people. The whole world actually as long as they beleive it. Not to mention the Jewish accused Jesus of sinning for these reasons violating the Sabbath law (by healing on the Sabbath); threatening to destroy the Jewish Temple; practicing sorcery, exorcising people by the power of demons; and claiming to be the Messiah. Jesus was also pretty quiet about it and and did not defend himself which I expect Judah will do the same.
    Be a good steward of your free will as a believer and make sure your not responsible for another cruxifiction. But as i said earlier it will happen because thats what being an honest christian may get you and im sure Judahs aware of that.
    I pray this message and this song reaches exactly who it needs to🖤🙃
    We arent called to be tame, we are called to be bold
    Friendly reminder that your discernment is not Judahs responsibility. Or any other artist for that matter. Christian artist nor artist who happen to write Christian/faith based music are not the Messiah or whatever expectations some of you may have. They are human!
    Imagine dealing with an open wound and someone stops by and says" how dare you bleed!?!" "Don't bleed like that, bleed like this!". That's how some of you act.

Would you really use it in a sermon because you were gonna show how "real" you are just to offend most so that is the only word they hear & you negate the others? Paul says no we do offend others just to show we can.

    Parents who are complaining, set aside the eff bomb. Even without it, this is not a song for children. A 10-year-old should not be exposed to suicidal thoughts and depression.
    This is a song for both the churched and the unchurched. If we want to grow God’s kingdom, we have to reach out to those who need the comfort, forgiveness, love, and peace of Jesus.
    If we get hung up on a word here or there, how will we teach others of God‘s love? Can you imagine Jesus casting others away from him because they used a naughty word?

Then realizes to read and understand the Beatitudes and then all of a sudden life has meaning again. I get the f bomb meaning in the song as the younger generation today (20-35) year olds will relate to this more than older generations. • @crossandsong

    I like the sound and feel of the song...but...I just feel the F-bomb is completely unnecessary to get your point across. I hope you don't receive this as a bash or personal attack, but my thought is...did you feel the Holy Spirit cringe when you wrote the lyric? I know the Holy Spirit cringed in me when I heard it. The truth is, God DOES love us in our darkest moments, even when we are "fresh out of f@#&$." But as a Christian artist, our creativity doesn't need to contain content that dishonors God to be relatable, real, and authentic. Would you consider putting pornographic material in the next song because you sometimes struggle with pornography? My guess is absolutely not (...unless your Dante Bowe). Then why do it with coarse language?
    I watched an interview you did a while back where you sang a song and used "sh#t" in a song lyric and then apologized to the interviewer for using it in the song. I'm going to make a wild guess that the Holy Spirit sparked that feeling in you to apologize for the lyric. You also said that your friend Jon Foreman told you it was a good idea to change the course lyric in that song, so you did. I believe Jon was listening to the Holy Spirit's direction and wanted both of you to honor God with the words of the song, choosing holiness. My hope is that you would choose to take Jon's sound advice again and remove this lyric from your song and keep the "family version;" which I would call the "god-honoring" version. Just my thoughts. Appreciate you!

    why include that word... the Bible says to let no unwholesome talk come out of our mouths and I get that it was probably done from a genuine nature of showing emotion but in a society that deems it to be wrong, it definitely hurts our witness as Christians when it gets tossed out there. We're called to live above reproach and not resemble the world in any way and I get it- we still mess up, but it doesn't mean glorifying an action that would cause others to go against their convictions. I’m not the “swear in a worship song to sound edgy” type. However, I am a critical thinker. This isn’t a worship song. This is written more like inner dialogue. Or, perhaps an open, one-way conversation with God.
    I’ve seen people complain about this song specifically, and I don’t understand it. Are we not supposed to swear? Who decides? In areas of the country, S*** is the only acceptable word for poop. Are all those people swearing? “Fresh out of F****” is where we have all been at times. Did you use that phrase when you were there? Maybe? Maybe not. If you did, are you awful? No.
    I’ve seen the “unwholesome” talk verse thrown around. Was The Bible referring to what YOU consider swear words when that was penned? Or, perhaps, was the writer looking at the way you talk about your neighbors, family members, job, Lord, strangers instead. Personally, I think that assuming God was thinking only about a specific word that has a specific meaning to you when that was written is shallow and missing the point.
    This song says a lot if you’re willing to listen. If this was meant to be sung from the stage at church I may agree with folks criticizing it. But, it’s not a worship song. So that would be my main issue, not the language used.
    Anyway, I hope that what prompted this song gets cleared up through reading the scriptures and prayer. I hope people who are touched by this song find peace. And, I hope that Christian’s learn to expend just half of the energy used to argue with other Christians online toward advancing the Gospel instead.
    Wish I could see Judah with Needtobreathe on Nov in Mpls, but just can’t quite swing that. Otherwise, I’d be there.

      @cosmicjourney1111 society did. Just like the word "piss" is used in the KJV of the Bible and obviously was not considered vulgar at one time, it obviously became vulgar at another. The fact is that the F-bomb was called a bomb because well, it was a bomb. There is vulgar speech in every society and Christians should refrain from using it. How else are we to "come out from among them and be ye therefore separate?" We should not be of the world, only lights within it.
      When you look at a parent's guide to a film, the secular world puts "profanity" there on its list. The f-bomb is there. How and why would ypu defend it when even the lost world can see that it's foul?

      Not "can't" but "shouldn't " and the bible has alot to say about cursing and filthy talk. Colossians 3:8, Ephesians 4:29, 5:4, Matthew 12:36

    I’ve been obsessed with your music for awhile now and I even do some of your songs at church. I really hope you’re not going down the slippery slope that fame can bring. I was really disheartened to hear you use the F-word in this song. Didn’t need it. The f-word is never needed and extremely vulgar in my opinion. I had to block this song from my teen daughters playlist cause it’s my job to raise her and protect her. Do better bro. I’m praying for you and that you’ll stay on the right track.

      Hi. I'm a 26 year old who has had to battle with depression and addiction. The F word completes this song. I hope one day your daughter is taught that she can cry out to and get angry with God in her pursuit for answers.

      @@Myself-xg5fu yeah. Your not teaching me anything. I’m an excellent parent. I’m not over zealous. I’m very practical. I’m just a firm believer that whatever you feed your mind and spirit, will eventually show on the outside. I allow my kids to make their own decisions. Like we all love horror movies, and yes we hear some curse words. But when listening to so called Christian music and hearing the f bomb. That projects the wrong vibe. You have the fruit of your lips. Scripture says do not let bitter water and sweet water come out of the same fountain “talking about speech”. Don’t let your good be spoken evil of.
      Same thing. My girls are brilliant and I never force anything on them. They serve and worship Jesus through their own journey. One fell away after the divorce, but she has found her way back on her own.

    Absollutely ZERO reason to drop the curse word and for anyone saying its just a word or just a song.. This man is a musical genius and has been putting out great stuff, it would be a masterpiece without the word in it, just another way to blend in the world, very disappointing

      Agree. There is a "family" version which is just what he should have released. No need to be a stumbling block just for kicks.

      @@gospelofJIK You are not certain of that. We are commanded to do our best to not offend others when it is a silly issue like this or when Paul wrote about eating meat. No there is not a specific verse that says do not say an F bomb, but many put that under unwholesome talk.
      Regardless it was silly & added nothing. This version has the same emotion & no one would think it needs a F bomb if he never put it in the other version just to be rebellious.
