NOTE: Since we're discussing almost every game in the franchise in this video, there will naturally be spoilers present. Particularly with Infinite Wealth and Gaiden, I've added some timestamps in the description so that you can skip certain questions as they allude to the final bosses of those games. Apologies for not putting it directly in the video! Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy this celebration and that the answers presented were as extensive as you'd have hoped :)
I have something to disagree with you, that being changing the UI of the Karaoke back to the pre-DE version. I do not like the old UI, because the main issue is that with the old UI, every button would look identical under pressure, even with the distinct colors of each face button. At least with the new one, each button is put at a pattern that I can register much easier. Now, it is still not perfect. If you ask me, I think removing some of the graphics to make it less eye-straining might work. However, if you still insist on the old UI (even if I am not), I think a toggle UI option would work better.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my silly question! Your yakuza platinums tier list served as the best guideline I could ask for for what to expect from the series, so a big thank you for that!
Congratulations on 10k my dude A dmc yakuza crossover would be pretty awesome Also takes me back to people call kiryu IW outfit nero kiryu or devil may kiryu
Between that and the Baka Mitai x Devil Trigger remix with a combo mad video from a while back, I'd say the collab would be very well received in both communities 😄
A crazy spin off I would like to see would be an alternative timeline where Kiryu stayed as chairman but have Haruka as the MC having her own fighting style as the "Yakuza Princess" I think seeing how much things would change with that dynamic could be interesting.
Hey, its me. The one whos question was basically skipped. But im actually glad you didnt touch on that. I promised someone to stop looking for cumbo (some time after the tweet), so it was actually great that you didnt give out any information regarding that. Oh also, apologies for basically interrogating you mid-Q&A
1:09 Although I started Yakuza 0 with Chris Smoove last month, but I've seen and loved spoilers, so for me: Bringing back as many Platinum and Gold hostesses from Yakuza 0. The Platinum hostesses (except Yuki) had no role in Kiwami 2. I just finished the second Customer Service Training with Mana Sakura. She mentioned something about "Caberet Club for Grandpas". She would had been in her 50's in the 2020's. I wonder if Goro even came back to help her, or if Saki became a nurse, or what happened to Hibiki's younger brother.
Didn't realize you had this coming up. Guess I've been outta the loop from this channel. Anywho, good choices on the Gintama ranking. Curious what you'll think of a certain one-eyed smoker (not that one) by the end 🤔
Thanks for answering my question. And also I should have asked a more music and or game track based question as well, especially since you really do know your craft in matters.
I just discovered your channel last week after beating the main story of Infinite Wealth and coming across your content on the game, and it’s been a blast going through your videos! Your thoughts on the Yakuza series have been really cool to listen to and in particular, have helped me to appreciate Gaiden more than I initially did on my first playthrough of that game. ^_^ No pressure after already answering so many other questions, but I had a random musical question for you: what’s your approach to listening to a video game OST for the first time? With something like the nearly 6 hours of music from Infinite Wealth for example, would you listen to the OST a little bit at a time, repeat certain songs over and over or go through the entire album in one go?
Thank you so much for the kind words! With regards to the OST question, considering how we rarely have an explanation as to where a given song from the album would be played in the game, I usually like to go through OSTs after I get largely familiar with the entry it's tied to. With the added context, a song's strange choice in terms of a key change or strange sequencing can actually be one of its greatest strengths, whereas it could just feel unnecessary when observed from a purely musical perspective. So essentially, context first, then experience the album in its own right.
@@gokudoni That makes a lotta sense! Thinking back to my recent playthrough, I don't think I would've liked the song Sad Mechanism from Infinite Wealth much if I'd listened to it out of context: it feels a bit too "busy" and chaotic to me. Listening to the song while battling through the accompanying fight though... the song stuck with me a lot more. Knowing where the music plays and the context behind it helps me to see why certain musical choices were made when composing it. Thus in turn, it's easier to appreciate even the chaotic bits of the track. :)
Ah, table 10. Good pick. Under normal circumstances I would've joined you at Gary's, but since I literally am already present at table 9 there's no need to make another choice.
Absolutely based take for wanting the old karaoke format, I've only just started Yakuza Like a Dragon but I only played karaoke in 6 not Kiwami 2 and found it far less enjoyable than the old version. On the note of wanting old aspects of past games back, I really want the Kiwami games going forward to bring back the original Dragon Style seen up until Kiwami 1 but I know that sadly may just be a dream...
31:41 Actual legalities aside: Because Chris Smoove and I come from NBA 2k series (though I'm more of an offline play now guy), not having skateboard or bicycles to travel around where taxis can't reach is poor form. It should be inexcusable timeline-wise after 2000.
A Devil May Cry crossover that works a bit like Dead Souls where you can fight as Kiryu or Dante against demons in Kamurocho would be sick. Add in Virgil plus another Yakuza character, and turn up the combos and juggling.
Thank you for clarifying! Here are some of my other favourite franchises: Ratchet and Clank, Castlevania, God of War, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Silent Hill and Nier. Also, appreciate the question :D
28:33 In Yakuza 0: Beast and Slugger for me. My least favourite in Yakuza 0 has to be Mad Dog of Shimano due to personal playstyle. I love using the Golden Shotgun, but in Legend style for Majima, the Shotgun is like a stick to him. He doesn't shoot at all. At least I can still use the Golden Pistol in Kiryu's Legend Style.
Ooh, that's an excellent one! As for me, the ideal choice would simply be a classic Harley. Might be cliche, but it's been a dream bike of mine since I was a kid 😅
For an IP-based RGG game, i genuinely think they should make a Knuckles game from Sonic. I think the idea's just stupid enough to be wildly successful, a "baby's first yakuza" in the same way that Mario/Rabbids is baby's first xcom. Sega already has both the IP and the RGG team, Sonic's main cast have insane brand appeal (but generally terrible games), Sega tends to struggle conceptually with how to make a "Sonic" game so imo they should try something new. And finally, Mario has different kinds of game for different characters (Luigi's Mansion, WarioWare, Yoshi's Wooly World, etc), I'd argue that Knuckles and Tails have more "star power" than any of those characters but are only ever relegated to being sidekicks in a Sonic game. Imagine, literally any beat-em-up style yakuza game but given a reskin so it's Knuckles doing the punching (recycle his moveset from Sonic fighters or something, give it the full RGG treatment), if age rating is a concern make all the bad-guys be robots or something. Fill it with minigames and butt-rock, I think they'd make a fortune.
12:19 I do like the Yakuza 0 system. Sure, it is a grind if you are somewhat of a completionist to upgrade everyone to max level past the final boss. I've only just started training Mana the second time. Chris Smoove hasn't even started. I think he is only just being induced today.
I'm somewhat disappointed you mentioned being a motorcycle enthusiast, but didn't expand upon it. That can mean a lot of things. Some people are into racing a Ducati, others, like myself are into taking a KTM anywhere it can go. What's your preference?
Ideally, a properly-looked-after Harley being driven on an open road. Despite the extreme sport associations with bikes in general, I always preferred the more meditative side that came from looking after such vehicles, particularly more old-school ones.
The most in depth combat is in Zero. but imo the most potential is in Kiwami 2. You team up with Sayama for like 5min. Her and Kiryu even have sick combo attacks. They should make the combat more beat-em-up and less hyper armor that you can do very little against. edit: oh he didnt like Kiwami 2 combat at all huh. i hope he makes that breakdown video. to me Yakuza 6 felt the worst but i havent played all of them.
In my opinion, I think the game with the worst combat is OG Yakuza 1 since SEGA were still experimenting on it back then. Nothing catchy with OG 1 combat, just like another action, beat'em up game that came out in 2005/ 2006.
NOTE: Since we're discussing almost every game in the franchise in this video, there will naturally be spoilers present. Thank you so much for answering my question. Essence of smoking is also my favorite heat action. I always go out of my way to use it in Yakuza 3.
I would watch the hell out of any DMC videos you make
Glad to hear such a positive response to the idea 😄
@@gokudoni any DMC video would be so good, I would love it
Noticed not being subscribed after a few years of watching your content. I think it's about time to fix that

The Judai Yuki comment lines up perfectly if you are in the know its surreal.

I got into Yakuza after Gintama's ending and it's filling the hole it left in my heart.

fun fact about Yakuza 7's turn based RPG combat, that was originally announced as an April Fools joke lol

"id love a yakuza and dmc cross over" i mean.....they showed up in project x zone 2 dose that count?
Excellent point! I really need to give that game a try these days 😅
