Way back in the day we (2 of us) would prep a banger in two hours including painting it. We would race up to three meetings a week. We did this for 18 years 1969 to 1987 Spedeworth 395

most of the parts and the cars came from out banger racing friend who does it most weekend so we didnt really put much money into it, other than fuel, the cost of a drivers spot on the track and a mcdonalds afterwards
