Wow Luke, as someone who doesn’t really collect imports, this video tempts me for sure! The Mafex Mando looks incredible. Impressive that the Black Series mostly goes toe to toe with it however, for a quarter of the price!
Heads up, cape should be going over his left shoulder when his jet pack is on. Phenomenal video man! I always look forward to watching your videos.
Honestly as someone who primarily collects figuarts im totally fine with the black series, I think for the value Hasbro did an amazing job and I dont say that lightly. Mafex looks really good but ive been burned by them one too many times in terms of QC, especially with how expensive they are.

For me it's still the Figuarts season 3 with a custom Nunojj headsculpt. The paintjob, cape, grogu and articulation are just amazing.
It does look really good. I canceled my preorder because I’m just at a point where I have way too many Mandos in my collection. But I may go back to get this one. Really looking forward to their Bo-Katan
I have this figure on the way. Seriously the best Mando figure ever (my opinion). The accessories, the face, the size of helmet, it's all sooooo good.
I bite the bullet and bought the Mafex too. I can’t get over how good the helmet is.
You will get a ton of accessories that comes with it, well worth the price!
As someone who’s been waiting out for a definitive Mandalorian since the inception of season one, I think it’s safe to say, this one checks all the boxes for me.
Been waiting to see this next to the black series just shows how good that fig is
Mafex for only being $35 more than the black series has a whole lot of more value.
All of the accessories, better paint aps, and articulation really sets it apart. That Pedro head is probably the best looking one I’ve seen in this scale, custom or not.
The first Mafex, and I believe all three Figuarts have a rifle specific hand. And I think the hook attached to his jet pack is to hold the spear not the darksaber, could be wrong though.
If you’re someone who just wants a cheap (relative) Mando black series glavis is no slouch.
Although I think compared to other Hasbro lines he should have come with more accessories like hands and probably a grogu
Nitpicks:
The stitching at the neck is accurate to a certain degree, it doesn’t bother me as much (my figures it lays down and out of the way) but I can see how it would annoy others.
The wires going into the chest is great for posing the cape, makes it very stable and helps hold more dynamic poses. Just takes some finesse to get it to lay right.

If you compare prices of import vs. domestic, I believe it is not accurate to include shipping and taxes. Yes in america it may be 20-25 vs 100, however for most of the world its like 30-40 vs. 50-80. Asian countries probably favor the price of mafex even more so
People like to say the sculpt of the figuarts is off, but it’s not. People are just comparing it to Black Series and Mafex which figuarts does not scale well with. I have BS, SHF, and Mafex figures and the S3 Mando looks small next to those but looks perfect next to other SHF.
The main complaint about the helmet being too small is also wrong when compared to other SHF, it’s the correct size. While the color does seem a bit dark, when the light hits the armor it looks very shiny like in the show. The SHF actually resembles the color of the armor better when Mando is in darker areas.
Regarding the helmets, the BS helmet is too tall from the visor to the top of the helmet. The Mafex has a visor that is still slightly too narrow where the eyes would be. The SHF could also have the bottom of the helmet flare out a bit. So all the figures are not perfect by any means.
Black Series wins on price only in my eyes. It’s a tie between SHF and Mafex for accessories, and SHF wins articulation only because it has better range in the elbows and knees. In my opinion it’s what accessories you want for your figure and what other figures it’s going to be displayed with which should dictate which figure you go with.
$65 is how much this figure is on Preorder for now on the Japanese import sites.. Why do TH-cam reviewers keep saying these figures are $100? Only ignorant PPL buying these off BBTS are paying that inflated price.
im a big fan of the BS glavis, but the mafex's pedro pascal head + the new cape + so many accessories is very tempting
I think this will be the definitive mando but the new black series is absolutely amazing for the price. I think for budget collectors hasbro is definitely the way to go but for us plastic crackhead this will be the one to beat
I preordered this guy ages ago - the I got the Black Series Glavis Ringworld one and thought about cancelling but I couldn't cause it passed the cancellation cut-off time. But I'm glad I didn't, the Black Series one is still really good for the price but this one I think is my favorite 1/12th scale Mando.
Great video! I'm really happy with the new Black Series version, and I've got the original Mafex release, I might switch out the wrists for more hand options. That being said, if this new mafex Mando shows up on my doorstep, I won't complain!

I just got Mando 2.0 delivered a couple days ago and it is phenomenal. Got it from Hobby Search where it is $61.87, but came out to just a hair over $100 with shipping.

Ok so I wanted to get the book of boba fett mandalorian figure but ended up getting the plastic model by bandai, then i found another from hasbro. When I saw this it has caught my eye and I think i will be getting these company figures on the future, idk. I love how the yagumachi and shf figures has.

Mine just arrived, easily the best 1/12 Din Djarin on the market in my opinion. Wish he had better articulation at the torso but other than that he's perfect.

The only thing that keeping me from rating this Mando a 10 is the ack of good range on the knees and diaphragm joint. Still a very solid 8.5-9 and my new favorite Mando figure.
I was already on the verge of buying this new mando but given what you said about the helmet it sealed the deal. I also wanna buy the latest sh figuarts mando for the grogu but I can’t justify the purchase😅.

Mayfex is too expensive for my collecting needs they look amazing and the hand options are over the top. But I'll stick with the black series figures, so much more affordable.
I've seen Grogu with his pram starting to go down in price so I'm thinking about getting him. I wasn't paying full price but I'm ok paying $15 dollars for him. I've only got the original that was $12 dollars and the Grogu in the bag that came with the Speeder Bike when I bought that set.

With so many figures coming out last year.. i will stick with the new black series. I am happy it can stand up to Mafex so I can save money for the inquisitior pack. Good review!
Man can i ask you if the waist piece is exactly the same between mafex 1.0 and 2.0?
I made the hole too wide on the 2.0 trying to make the waist rotation more loose and now the chest piece doesn't pop in. In case mafex doesn't replace the piece i want to buy and use the waist from the 1.0

I had this on PO along with the new MAFEX Boba, but I just can't keep buying these. The Glavis Ringworld Black Series does an amazing job, especially at its price. The imports do get pretty fiddly with "that one thing from that one episode" and tiny, TINY little bits you can lose... SHF is the worst offender for this... and at the end of the day, I'll never swap out that many parts to get 15 different looks for this Mando. Maybe if he was the ONLY Mando I ever owned and I could keep the accessories close at hand.
The glaring issue with BS Glavis is the utterly baffling knee joint placement. the fulcrum point is too low on the leg, just like they did with Deluxe Boba, and if you do action poses and bend those legs much they look more and more bizarre, the upper leg is too long, the lower leg too short.. This is NOT about the knee pad being on the upper part, it's literally the fulcrum point being placed on the upper calf of the lower leg, and no where a leg actually bends They get the knee joint placement right on other single joint figures, like Bo, but seem to get it wrong on male mandos, and crutially getting it so wrong on TWO of their best figures... it bakes my brain and frustrates me no end. I've only seen one reviewer flag this issue so far with Glavis, but once you see it, it's AWFUL. SO close to being the best Mando on the market for the money. I actually think the BS sculpt looks a little less stiff, and the pelvis hip area looks better than the new Mafex, and for just a standing pose I agree it is better, but because I'm an action poser, I'm gonna save my money for the mafex
And yet it still has more range of motion than the Mafex knee, both slightly further bend and swivel rotation. I still prefer the BS over this Mafex

You have that many Mandos, meanwhile im thinking of majorly shrinking my Mando collection due to season 3 being lackluster

For characters that don't typically do crazy things I think a lower end figure like black series works fine. They can't pull off every pose you want but they look good on a shelf for a decent price. Someone like spiderman, their import figures are much more worth it because you'll probably use that articulation much more.
My Mafex 2.0 arrived yesterday... i have not even unboxed the Mafex 1.0 yet. I don't know why i keep buying these. ...i WANT it but i definitely do not need it, i don't even have a good spot on the shelf for it.
The Hasbro "Glavis" one is already on the shelf but that one arrived only a few weeks ago, i'll give him some more time on the shelf before i think about rotating him out.
I'm wondering if i can take the Pedro head and put him on one of the older Black Series figs, because now that i got all these new ones the old Hasbro helmet REALLY sticks out bad all of a sudden, i was fine with it the entire time but now they just look terrible in A / B comparison, suddenly i get what everyone was talking about grrr.

I do like that the Mafex comes with a wired cape. And I will admit that the Mafex helmet is better than the BS, but only by a little.
As for armor, I noticed some specks on the Mafex thigh armor that I’m not a fan of. I also do not care much for the sculpt of the pants on the Mafex.
All in all, good comparison video. I think I will be happy with my Black Series one 👍🏻

Black Series Glavis is best bang for your buck but going by your review, if a person wants an all-in-one package that covers damn near everything with great articulation and accessories, then the Mafex is definitely a great premium figure to own and even comes with two Grogus. At this point, I'd just keep the BS Glavis and Mafex 2.0 out of everything else.
Can I ask if the cape is removable? Or is it glued down?
I’ll keep the BOBF Mando. $25 for a quality figure with less accessories sure but enough to satisfy. Imports look great on the shelf but I’m always afraid to touch them and handle them like the Black Series and most domestic figures. Easy pass after Hasbro did so well with their last Mando.
I have Mafex V1, but knew the V2 was going to take it all with the promo pics I've seen. Now I know. Definitely getting the new Mafex.
The Hasbro helmet, even though better, just doesn't cut it...I know Hasbro CAN make it accurate, but for some dumb reason, they decide to hold back sometimes. So frustrating.

The brown jumpsuit on the Black Series figure looks much more textured and realistic compared to how smooth the jumpsuit on the Mafex and SH figuarts looks. Perhaps a little weathering wash or a dull coat would help the appearance on the jumpsuit of the import figures would help but you shouldn’t have to “fix” a premium figure. Also, I’m not sure I’d want to risk damaging the expensive figures if I screwed one up.

I don't need a whole lot. I can do without all the extras that i think a fairly normal collector who doesn't do toy photography or anything like that needs especially when you just put it on the shelf and your done. For me it would be the latest black series cause it gets the job done at a much lower cost.
Not gonna lie, I kinda hated the mafex 2.0, I think they did great with the acessories, but the figure itself is just not that great, the painting is very plastic reminds me of some early iron man from marvel legends, and the articulations for posing is kind of limited plus not so natural, i'm between shf season 2 and the new black series to be honest. The original mafex 1.0 is sad to apoint i stayed with the black series from the two pack. If i could kitbash i would get the the 2.0 acessories and head to use with the new black series.
Black Series for me. I just can’t justify the price of the Mafex. It’s got 100 accessories I’ll never use? Okay.
I prefer the helmet on the new BS honestly, the 2.0 Mafex's upper visor still looks too squinty. Also surprised that the torso barely moves.
