The numpad for me is indispensable, especially for work-related tasks. Rare for a laptop that's 16 in big to have none (most 15.6 laptops have it). The fact that they removed it to make space for the speaker is a bit of a head scratcher for me. I use my laptop speaker only when i don't have my headphones or bluetooth speaker, which is rarely. Haven't encountered a laptop with speakers that can compete with standard headphones/bluetooth speakers.

Please help! I've bought this laptop recently inspiron 16 5620.. The left side of the laptop is getting kind of warm although the fan is working. Additionally, air is not coming out of the left vent. Is that normal? I'm so confused💔
I like this machine, but the lack of numpad has stopped me from already ordering, also I'd like to see an upgrade to Ryzen 6000 series CPU's for the bump to RDNA2 IGPU. The price in Canada is OVER $1000 😕 Also, the battery seems small given the size of the laptop.
Yeah the numpad thing was a curious choice. A lot of unhappy buyers regarding that. This particular laptop is definitely not worth north of $1,000, but I also have no frame of reference for CA computer prices.
I'm the other way around. I *refuse* a laptop with a numpad. I find it so stupid to have to line up my hands along the left. All that unused space along the right. Plus the touchpad ends up in the incorrect position, because centering it under F and J means the touchpad would sit way to the left. So kudos to DELL for daring to break the standard. Plus 16:10 aspect ratio, 16 inch. It's got all the sweet spots!
I was looking at xps but didn't want to spend over $2k so now I'm looking at this one. Is this a good one for home use? Not into game but just need to do office stuff (spreadsheet and words), photo editing and videos for fun and able to stream videos. Is this one reliable for what I need?
@@ComputerStuff It's actually more egregious, with Apple, it's an SOC where RAM, GPU, CPU are on a single package and are architecturally inseparable. With Dell and Lenovo it's just planned obsolescence and greed though Apple has no business soldering storage onto the mainboard, that's also just greed.
It's successor 5630 is a 13th Gen so probably better performance Also FHD+ screen will be standard. So would that make difference or should I get existing 12th Gen or wait for 13th . Usage would be programing and lightweight editing.
@@chiragmehta9731 There's not a huge difference in 13th gen vs 12th gen, if you can find the 12th gen for cheaper, you should get 12th gen. If both are the same price you might as well get the 13th gen. Edit: If you plan to upgrade the RAM yourself, 12th gen is the only choice and don't get anything less than 16Gb if you can't upgrade the RAM.
I personally (visual artist myself) think that a cheaper laptop with a tablet is better than a hybrid. Most times the stylus will be jittery, and the feel personally isn't there with a glossy screen like this. If you are ok with buying a screen protector it may help to avoid over time scratching on the display, but this also may wear down the pen with models such as paperlike. If you do end up buying this solely for illustration work let me know how it goes, but I still think ipads or devoted tablets are the better option. It helps you save a bunch on your model, and as an artist- if you are flipping the laptop over to not be distracted by the keyboard the problem becomes the fact you lose your shortcuts. Also the palm detection isn't the most reliable.
I cannot see any professional photographer or video editor using this laptop. Its not that it would be slow but the screen has no colour referencing. Pretty sure the colour spec if far from any good RGB reference and that would extend to video editing (unless colour is meaningless to your content). If you are going to editing the actual photos or video, you need more than just a decent display. Even editing video and big photos would be helped by the Plus and its better GPU.
This is a great comment and a point well worth mentioning. My only agrument is that those not wanting to shell out for the Plus or a higher end laptop shouldn't be discouraged in their art or business just beacuse they don't have best in class color reference but I certainly see where you're coming from.
@@ComputerStuff In pure editing, its not going to be the current CPus that hold you back rather overall balance as well as RAM/HD space/GPU accelerated codecs. However unless time is money is big reason (and in that case you will buy a higher end laptop that will pay for that time saved) and in some cases IO speeds in moving projects off to external storage or importing it (USB3.2/Thunderbolt 4). And if the battery keeps going dead then your laptop is a dead weight more often than you want to be
Having uses several variants of the 16 and 16+ not to mention the numerous clients we have sold these to, I haven't heard many if any complaints about the pad being problematic.
After a day's ownership I am seriously considering returning mine. I spec'd mine with a 1334u i5 thinking it would be cool and quiet, but the fan is so ridiculously noisy it's hard not to be distracted. It's not as if I've been running demanding apps - just browsing TH-cam causes enough heat for the fan to spin up noticeably. In contrast, my old XPS with an i7 is near silent. Hands down the worst laptop I've ever bought.
I refuse a laptop with a numpad. I find it so stupid to have to line up my hands along the left. All that unused space along the right. Plus the touchpad ends up in the incorrect position, because centering it under F and J means the touchpad would sit way to the left. So kudos to DELL for daring to break the standard. Plus 16x10 aspect ratio so not that stupid mail-slot effect that the stupid wide ones have, 16 inch so way more useful than 14. It's got all the sweet spots! Literally, what competes with this? I see no other options!
I absolutely cannot get this stupid laptop to work for zoom or teams! I hate it! I’ve bought usb headsets (it stopped recognizing them), tried to just use the speakers (no one can hear me), tried updating drivers. Any suggestions would be welcomed. I’m at wits end.
We have a lot of clients that request laptops with numpads. Generally speaking these are doctors offices or accountants however, who have a lot of data entry needs.

Hello!! I'm a medicine student, and im thinking of buying the new inspiron 16 5625, do you recommend it?
Yes absolutely!
Hey man im looking into buying this laptop as a "Budget" beginner streaming laptop if i hook up an elgato hd60x and use it to stream with do you think itll run everything okay?
Yes this should have enough power to run an Elgato.
@@ComputerStuff cool thanks for getting back to me man appreciate you👌💯
Would you recommend this for CAD/slicing 3D models?
Absolutely!
I’m deciding between this and the Acer Swift X i am a student but i am also trying to use the same laptop for editing youtube videos and some light gaming so out of this or the Acer Swift X what do you think I should purchase?
I'd probably go with the ACER Swift X. I like the Dell, but that ACER is a pretty hard to beat platform.
@@ComputerStuff ok thanks
I was about to go with Dell but Vostro variant but I heard Acer is launching a swift Go 16 variant in june
Is the body all Aluminum? I've heard the bottom is plastic.
Some models have plastic bottoms, yes. But its nothing cheap or that will break easy.
What about battery?
I can expect 5-6 hours battery?
Roughly, yes.
can we charge the laptop via usb-c port? if yes, watt? thx.
Yes you can. 65w should be fine
Why don't they provide an original power cord and only provide the c-usb charger? It's in my way. They should provide both options in my opinion. They didn't offer the choice which is bad for me.
Seems to be fairly random as to which charger someone gets.
How long does the battery last?
I'd say about 8 hours practically speaking.
@Fak Yiu you’re right. You should see the stack load of cash Dell gave all of us to shill this piece of crap. Ferrari money!
OR, you failed to update the bios and drivers, you have some crummy piece of software, eating resources in the background, or you got a lemon. one bad apple doesn’t ruin the whole bag.
If you hate it so much exercise your return policy.
@Fak Yiu you should buy an HP next…
@Fak Yiu th-cam.com/video/KF8o9poUEZU/w-d-xo.html
@Fak Yiu look I’m sorry you’re having troubles w yours man but we’ve sold hundreds of these Dells and rarely have major issues that can’t be solved with a bios update (w exception being the thermal paste problem dells are notorious for). No shilling - we just like ‘em.
Would you recommend for graphic design?
Yes!
I am confused between 2 laptops dell G15 with intel i5-12500H 16GB RAM and RTX 3050 and dell inspiron 16 with ryzen 7 5825u 16GB RAM AMD radeaon graphics. My usage is light gaming probably games like GTA5 which is a well optimized game , sometimes video editing as an hobby and i am Computer Engineering Student. Which shall laptop shall I go with and how well ryzen 7 5825u handles game without dedicated GPU please let me know? I am not concerned about battery if it gives me like 2-3hours its ok because in my University we have great charging point infrastructure.
Given your description and specs, were it my money, I'd go with the Dell G15!
@@ComputerStuff but the battery is so bad on the g15 no? 3 hours watching videos or so
@@ole01 Battery is not great on most gaming laptops including the G15.
Hi, I’m wanting to become a writer and I want to write stuff on it and store my stories on it and was wondering if this laptop would be good for that? Thanks
Yes, absolutely!
@@ComputerStuff Thanks!
Prefer the numpad gone... but they could have added home pg-up keys to the right side like on the L502x
It's funny, the numpad is a very polarizing thing.
Does it have an aluminum case shell?
It does indeed!
I got one for $1399 when it released
No num-pad??
Why are these 1,000 bucks now? My college bookstore has it listed at 1,200
That's a lot of money. These start at 550 on Dell's website in USA.
Please help!
I've bought this laptop recently inspiron 16 5620..
The left side of the laptop is getting kind of warm although the fan is working.
Additionally, air is not coming out of the left vent.
Is that normal? I'm so confused💔
Warm is normal. They are tight little spaces after all! You're ok!
Hey Chris
Do you recommend inspiron 2 in 1 for programming
How do I register my fingerprint to turn it on
Go to SETTINGS, search for WINDOWS HELLO, and you can register your finger print in there.
How to write the letter "Ñ" and the seat "´" ?
I dont understand.
does it have audio jack?
Yes
@@ComputerStuff
Thanks
How is the fan noise on this one, is it high pitched or not?
Under load, yes it can be. But normal usage its silent.
Is this good for graphic design?
Absolutely!
Got mine for $529+taxes (with Dell coupons) yes best value for your money.
Nice find
my 2-in-1 has the c port charger. that's what sold me on it
C port charging is the 🐝🦵🏼
I have this one its Great
They are pretty solid!
I was looking at xps but didn't want to spend over $2k so now I'm looking at this one. Is this a good one for home use? Not into game but just need to do office stuff (spreadsheet and words), photo editing and videos for fun and able to stream videos. Is this one reliable for what I need?
@@chanthana7694 I have it and its is good
how is battery life? how much run time
no get the Dell Vostro 5630 < the ethernet jack has been a masterpiece for terminal connections.
While ethernet is a nice luxury to have, for most people these days, it's not a necessity. That said I do like the Vostros!
Dell Inspiron 16 5620 i5 1240P Vs i5 1235U ? Better is?
You will probably get just EVER so slightly better performance out of the 1240p.
Probably the last good value Inspiron, since all the new 13th gen have soldered RAM (and WiFi?).
The soldered RAM stuff that Lenovo and Dell are borrowing from Apple is frustrating!
It's successor 5630 is a 13th Gen so probably better performance
Also FHD+ screen will be standard.
I was thinking if 13th gen variant would have better thermals and no trackpad issue. Coz many 12th gen users have complaints regarding that.
Can you play steam game on it??
Yes!
Would this be good fpr illustration work? And what actuve sylus is compatible?
Thank you for the review video!
And if the battery keeps going dead then your laptop is a dead weight more often than you want to be
Now days the plus is $1800.00. Most reviewers say the pad is problemmatic.
Having uses several variants of the 16 and 16+ not to mention the numerous clients we have sold these to, I haven't heard many if any complaints about the pad being problematic.
@@ComputerStuff OK then I will buy one.
That's a shame. We just reviewed the newest Inspiron 16 and it's awesome. No issues with fan or overheating. Sorry to hear about your bad experience.
Is it good for a freshman college student studying computer science?
Excellent for that use!
I absolutely cannot get this stupid laptop to work for zoom or teams! I hate it! I’ve bought usb headsets (it stopped recognizing them), tried to just use the speakers (no one can hear me), tried updating drivers. Any suggestions would be welcomed. I’m at wits end.
Hi bro
I hate the number pad is offsets the trackpad in an inconvenient way, and I disagree that most pepole like it
We have a lot of clients that request laptops with numpads. Generally speaking these are doctors offices or accountants however, who have a lot of data entry needs.
for a business computer the lack of number pad is a deal breaker.
Noooo I do not like the NumPad its crams the keys and you can always use the Numerical Keys on the top of the Keyboard... Learn typeing so you will never need a numpad 🤦♀
What under 12 pound all in one printer under $200 works for this laptop
Under 12 pounds?? That's a tough one, I'd stay clear of HP printers, but check out Epson or Canon.
how are the thermals on it? I don't want to have a baking tray on my lap when i'm trying to work lying in bed. Like with another DELL range *cough LATITUDE cough*
hahah, yeah this one can get kinda hot at the bottom - for what its worth a lot of laptops seem to have that. They're so thin with lots of power.
Does it have the horse power to play genshin impact tho? 🤔
I'll have to check with the horse. I think so.
Dell offers no more any Inspiron 16 with Ryzen and 32GB RAM.
Shame :(
I own this.
Heck yeah!
Ahhhh….narsil….have one myself
