I've thought about it but i just dk if i should get it as my first synth or not considering the price... I could probably get one withing the next month but im not 100% sure yet although I am leaning towards it more and more.
How good is the m50? I have a roland fantom right now and I always wanted a korg m3 or m50 but since it they were replaced by the newer korg keyboards i just forgot all about it.
I have the mininova and love it for what it is, that said however, I would not reccomend it as a fist synth. If I were you I would look for a workstation keyboard. A korg M50 would fit nicely or an older yamaha mo6 both have plenty of sonic capabilities as far as sound and also offer recording, looping, sequencing options and oh so much more than just a mono timbral synth. The mininova will do some great stuff that no other board can do but not a good first choice. m50 used is about $500
The Mininova is a mono timbral synth, lol, how many voices did you think it might have lol..some people are not too bright and have no clues about synth terms but that hardly makes novation misleading for correctly adevertizing a synth for what it is. Looping is not offered on most synths by the way and that is best done in your DAW. Yes my Korg loops but it is not a pure synth but a workstatation which is a different beast entirely.
Are the effects on his vocals coming from the mininova as well? I assume the percussion was a seperate track but his mic was plugged directly into the unit. If this can do fx processing on the line in while you can play it I'm sold.
I know you may seem like a bright boy for putting it like that, but I do not agree. It was one of the first questions I ever had before buying it, but i still did, and as I said, I love the sound engine, but i just miss that little detail, and every video they made seem like one guy makes a full track by looping sounds from it. Don't matter how you explain it, thats what it seem like.
I do think it has a good sound engine and alot of options, but i do miss you can do more than just play one sound at the time, the software is a joke and you can only direct record to hardware output or direct line-in on your computer. I suggest you youtube a few Mininova reviews from hardware testers and make up your own mind :)
His voice sounds so metallic...the song just has such a nice effect
With all this talking about gear and comparisons to Ozzy it's about time someone praises this beautiful song :)

Would you recommend the Mininova? I'm looking to buy my first synth so I'm a bit noobish.

Think Mininova videos are very misleading, as they only play one sound at the time, no looping or such.
If you cannot play the keyboard yet, you should start with full sized keys.
I know you may seem like a bright boy for putting it like that, but I do not agree.
