Thank you Adam for having me on the show. You've been great in not only helping me out but other smaller creators on the platform. I love working with you and look forward to having you again as a guest in the next Let's Chat About Podcast. If you guys missed it, HG here did a video on my channel too. Come check it out, we talk about how Hyrule is Dying. th-cam.com/video/ZAIQREiWa5M/w-d-xo.html
My only hope is that they don't erase the past, but rather embrace it. Keep the open world while still bringing back classic elements that the older fans remember and love
@@HyruleGamer I have so many memories of the franchise, even with playing less than half of the 19 games. From A Link to the Past (my first Zelda game) to Breath of the Wild. I remember struggling with games like Ocarina and Phantom Hourglass and breezing through games like Spirit Tracks and Skyward Sword (the HD remake which took me a little over three months to complete which for me is impressive given that I work full time.) I hope that the Zelda team takes all of this into consideration and adds things like the hook shot back into the game, heck even bombchus as you can guild them a bit to a target or a cracked wall before they go off
Agree, you can have the best of both. The "lore" is the least important thing as nintendo is just playing us on all that (even though I'm a sucker for it). Add some actual motivation to complete quests and a bit of linearity with the open world freedom and we'll have a masterpiece.
Nice overview, you guys nailed it! Personally, I think that Breath of the Wild was a great installment not just for the story, but also the world building. Link wakes after 100 years to see a completely new world that he is slowly regaining his memories for. With that world building, I think Tears of the Kingdom will work really well to expand the story beyond just the past and look to the future with Zelda/Ganondorf, I'm sooooo excited!
70 days left, it is insuferrable. I'm thinking every single day about zelda, as if I was in love. It's also so hard to not look up the leaks! And soon TOTK will be in PAX soon, and we'll get the demo after... I'll have to throw my phone through the window. I wouldn't mind getting knocked out and waking up in 70 days. Or 72. Physical games don't arrive in my country till two days later TT.
There is one thing I would like to see them address , races turning into monsters. Karmic energy turns somebody into monsters , at what point does it happen and how? It could be used for drama , and show who turns into what and why. King Moblin already proved that monsters can be made from living people.
I really appreciate you including other TH-camrs I haven't heard of before and helping the Zelda community grow in this regard. It's not a competition your approach here Adam is so valuable! Much love from Norway :)
I'm 58 for crying out loud, and since Christmas have re-established myself as a Nintendo Junkie, all over again on the switch platform!!! All Because of this game, and now, waiting so impatiently for this next game, that till January, I didn't even know was a thing!
I love the Zelda tubers with all my heart, but I legitimately don’t think that I can watch any more content until the game comes out because the fact that I know that you guys know about the leaks, it legitimately changes the entirety of the way that I view how these channels present their content, regardless of whether or not you are covering topics from said leak
I understand being transparent, but part of me wishes you guys just didn’t say anything about them i.e. Saying that you won’t cover them up I don’t know it’s weird still love y’all guys tho
This video was wrote before the leaks lol But also to try and reassure, I go into writing on the assumption of them being fake, to not allow their influence.
I wonder if tears of the kingdom will run at 60fps as in the trailers the game looks like it runs smoother, and since Zelda botw was running at 30 fps, and was originally made for the Wii U, it wouldn’t be a small possibility of tears of the kingdom running at 60fps, and if it does it will sure be a big game changer. Just a thought.
I really wouldn't worry about it. My take is that Botw was an experiment to try a new type of gameplay to build the ultimate Zelda game. Tears of the Kingdom is that next game, the game they wanted to build. Also it's been 6 years, and I doubt they've been doing very little in those 6 years.
I'm curious to see how Breath of the Wild does settle after Tears comes out. After all if Tears tackles a lot of criticisms that Breath of the Wild had then it could basically replace it. With previous games they can all still co-exist. If people prefer the story and setting of Twilight Princess then they'll play that again instead of Link to the Past. But if Tears of the Kingdom has the same world, just with a lot more in it, then I could see people just playing that to jump back into the same world. Of course there will be differences between the games and maybe some would prefer to mess around in shrines with the sheikah slate abilities. But I generally could see Breath of the Wild falling out of focus. There's no denying the value and impact of Breath of the Wild. It did so much for the franchise and created so much legacy. It'll be tough to have the same booming impact. The timing was taken full advantage of and the results speak for themselves. But I'd like to think Tears can still definitely live up to that legacy. I can't wait to see if it does.
I was wondering if you was planning on starting videos again on your lets visit hyrule channel? Either before Totk or after, i love this videos with how relaxing they are and am confused as to why you stopped them.
I think that BotW was so huge and lots of people who had no idea what the legend of Zelda was before they played BotW and I think people will continue playing BotW. I don't think people will stop playing BotW egen TotK releases
For real just from the trailers we've seen so far this gam is going to be lore heavy so i dont think ToTK will end the time line but futher it as well as answering alot of questions about the past!!!
TotK can succeed BotW by answering the shortcomings (Bosses, Dungeons, Enemy Variety, Stories, Weapon Duration, Underwater, etc.) while maintaining BotW's open world.
I disagree with so many of PixelFusion's opinions, that I don't even know where to start augmenting... Enough to make me not want to visit his channel.
I would love some sort of character similar to Cranky kong in TOTK as a literal passing of the torch. The cranky kong like character will insult and belittle the new hero saying that when he was a hero, the world was a better place. But gaining respect for the new hero over time, still having a bit of cranky energy left at the end of the game tho Shoutout to the discord server as well too!
I forget excatly which advanced skill the Hero's Shade was teaching me in Twilight Princess, but I couldn't master it quickl. The Hero's Shade said something like "Hero, what ails you?" my young son though that was really funny.
there more things i want in TOTK than anything else is enemies variety seeing the same enemies over and over again is getting old and not as challenging like the lynel and guardians when i first played botw they were scarry but after a while they become pushovers.
As long as they don’t go overboard with fan service and nostalgia they should be fine. BOTW brought in new fans. A lot of new fans. When it comes to building a brand, you need to continue building your customer base or die. I think if Nintendo had gone to old route of Zelda games with the old formula there wouldn’t be any growth and eventually the brand would be relegated to secondary and tertiary level artists or even given to other studios to produce. BOTW made Zelda relevant and brought it into the 21st century. This game had to appeal to two new generations of players, Gen Z and Gen Alpha. They are two generations that have grown up with tech and have expectations for customization and freedom that Gen X does not. Where does that leave Gen Y or millennials? They teeter on the edge. They are familiar with the vintage games but they also grew up with the internet and have some of the same expectations as Gen Z. In many ways, they laid the foundations for Gen Z’s current expectations.
im gonna throw this out there but i doubt HG or Pixel will see this. everyone remember how there is a storm above hebra? well, if im not mistaken, we cant see the peak of hebra mountain. also, after a certain elevation (the shrine i think) the mountain top is pure ice. heres a query: whats under that ice? my guess is it is probably a dungeon. and with the vortex, i get strong Wind Tribe vibes. plus, the zonai swirl is IN the Wind Tribe symbol.
Revisit? I never stopped playing BotW. I will definitely focus more on TotK when it comes out. I also see myself often playing both games at once just to compare differences between the two games.
For Tears of the Kingdom I don't think too much of the basic gameplay mechanics will change. Obviously new things will be added as Link now has this mysterious magic arm. Not to mention new mechanics for aerial combat. However I'm sure basic combat and exploration is going to be the same. I do hope they fixed the climbing while raining thing. Everyone knows how annoying that was! I also hope they changed the weapons system a little bit. I don't mind the weapons breaking, but they break way too fast. I mean a tree branch snaps after only 3 to 5 hits. That's ridiculous! I'm sure that somewhat traditional dungeons will return as most fans complained about that in Breath of the Wild. I really hope they keep the Hero's Path mode on the map. Not only is that really helpful for exploring areas you haven't been to, but it's also fun to just put the game in that mode for a little bit and see where you've been. More games need that feature! As for the story... I'm sure it's going to be a great overall story. It already looks super creepy and cool. I can't tell how exactly TOTK might connect to past Zelda titles, but if I'm being completely honest, I don't care that much. It is always fun to try to connect all of the Zelda games into one big timeline telling the history of Hyrule, but for the most part they have all been only vaguely connected and each story stands alone as its own epic adventure. Even Sequel titles have only just barely been connected to the previous title. For example look at Majora's Mask. It doesn't even take place in the same world as Ocarina of Time. I think Tears of the Kingdom will be tied to Breath of the Wild a lot more closely that those two games are, but they will still each be their own stand alone games with just some fan service references to past games. I am super excited for some of the reimagined enemies though. I have always loved the nightmare inducing redeads! 😨
my tears of the kingdom theory is that the new towers will act as giant time devices that when activated send that region back in time to perhaps the time of the different zelda games
I still want modular dungeons. Running through the exact same Forest temple over and over again is still going to get stale quickly. Another thing zelda needs is random encounters. These two things will make every playthrough fresh and new. Another thing that would help with this, randomly placed lute. Opening chests looses its magic when you already know what's inside. If you don't understand what I'm trying to say, just ask yourself how many times can you do a playthrough before you get bored.
Modular? How so? Not having all the rooms in a dungeon be the same every time would be interesting to see. The only thing I'm really counting on is not having every single thing in the game be roughly equal in size the way the shrines were, barring a couple of exceptions. With random loot, I find it has a double edged sword. Where set key items ensure an interesting find the first time and only one time, random items can become predictable if their formula is easy to spot or their effects and diversity are limited, where the novelty can get old halfway into just one playthrough let alone multiple. I found this to be the case with BotW's random weapon/item chests. My interest in finding them only lasted about half of my first run. I think this is why randomizers caught on so fast in the Zelda community, since the old key items still had their value, but their location was no longer predictable. I wonder if they could employ such a concept into this game. It feels like TotK would be a good candidate to try to include it.
Honestly, I don't really care if TOTK is better than BOTW. I care that its good in its own right and capable of standing on its own two feet before we even think about its place in the series.
Imma just say it, we need a totk direct this month to get the hype going, game is out in two months and while yes, some people are still hyped, the hype died down when all we got in terms of trailers is 7 minutes of ambiguous stuff.
Yeah, honestly the 'emptiness' of both games is quite even and depends largely on player perspective. Both contain formulaic pieces of content spread out in a similar density. Though Breath of the Wild does have very fun and open traversal and a lot more interesting puzzle content, Skyrim locations tend to feature quests and lore and a lot more unique rewards to be found, even if it does also have randomly generated ones too. It also has more going on with NPCs since it's Elder Scrolls and that's just what ES does.

If TotK does end up marking the final end for Ganondorf, that doesn't necessarily mean the end of the Zelda franchise, because remember Demise's curse: an incarnation of his malice/hatred will follow them forever, meaning they could easily come up with a new villain to fit that role. It'll be hard to come up with a great enough villain to pass that torch to, especially considering the ones they sort of tried to do with in the past, which failed to hit that mark by a Longshot. Whatever they decide to do with the series, I just hope it doesn't end up killing it off.
What do you think this famous passing of the torch will be like? 🤔

Skyrim is too empty and BoTW isn't??? HG, don't work with that boy nomore 😳
Yeah, honestly the 'emptiness' of both games is quite even and depends largely on player perspective. Both contain formulaic pieces of content spread out in a similar density. Im sorry but Pixelfusion had some pretty abyssmal takes.
why is every youtube channel saying that we want classic dungeons back?
I loved the device beasts ten times more than every dungeos in the past.
The devine beasts were full of real puzzles.
Dungeons were just pseudo-puzzles. Just things to do. Nothing special.
Give me 6 devine-beast-like dungeons and i am more than happy.
