It is so uplifting for me as an older South African living in London (since I went into exile due to being targeted by the apartheid regime for my work alongside Steve Biko during the Black Consciousness Movement) to listen to such inspiring young artists. You remind me of my own youth. You may be interested to know that I drew the original clenched fist symbol of Black power in Biko's presence. It is meaningful that my poem today (I have been writing poems daily since the advent of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020) resonates with Scoop's solid concepts about blackness and our African cultural traditions.
black like i
night of my love
carry me to the light
waiting for me to shine
from deep within
the blackness of my being
which is the only truth
that my beauty wishes to live
come through the pores
of the transparency
of my silent knowing
and intone the hidden colour
of my breath’s profusion
with the infinity of my purpose
lead me to the ripples
that my aching heart
seeks to embrace
and fill the void
with rhythms of the drum
whose spores cry
for their return to
the hide of sacrificial mornings

I feel like everyday I pass out this knowledge which os really simple to obtain, but people just want thier earthly things. I remember working at Yfm with Scoop n Sizwe, I had the thirst for knowledge that I saw in Siyabonga, to people from back home it was a dream to be at Yfm studios but I had my energy right and Scoop asked me to show up one Saturday because I called in frequently. Long story short, he told me about the bools we're not reading, his crib had posters of black power, my first realisation of Black Power. Dude even schooled me on how to roll a dutch from his corn corb looking weed. Im glad when I arrived in jhb, my energy was drawn to him 1st, and he definitely played that role for me. Great soul he is.
P.s He is also good with the youth. Everytime I see him he's crushing heads with the young bloods, and I know its a give and take, He learns as much as he teaches. From my point of view
Hey there. Any book suggestions from the things he talks about? Mainly about black people and our culture and so forth
@@Kamoomonslay unfortunately you'd have to read so many books to piece up everything. There are documentaries like 'Colors' that go into detail of black history. My advice is to grow your Spiritual Intelligence (SQ) as well as your IQ and EQ (Emotional Intelligence).. all what he has gained is an awakening in his spirituality and that can be hard to obtain. There os a book Spiritual Intelligence "The Ultimate Intelligence" by Danah Zohar and Ian Marshall.. but then my sister the 1st step is realising you want to know, fond these documentaries of black history and it'll open up your way of thinking.

@@Lindo_Buyile4444 there are certain types of mushrooms which cause psychedelic effects or make you "high", there is now extensive research that these mushrooms can even cure mental illnesses like depression and anxiety. Taken in small doses people report being more productive, have a clearer mind and all sorts of wonderful things. As someone who has battled with mental illness for years, I would really love to try mushrooms, in the appropriate doses ofcourse but sadly I dont even know where to start in trying to get them

Yoh I always thought scoop was crazy to some level , but Damn this guy is knowledgeable everything that he touched on in regards to spirituality, cultural and divine nature is a 100 % because that's something I also know and believe in his well informed and puts it into use , I'm not deleting this podcast Damn I got respect for him now .
