I grew up with all these songs, Tony Williams was my brothers idol....I think out of the voices in the world he was flawless...i love Elvis...But the Platters were truly a group from GOD......
Most wonderful sounds coming forth from the old 78RPM. WOW!! Thanks for the memories of these wonderful groups we grew up with. Chills go through you as you hear the static sounds of the OLD black records; that may not have been pristine but they WERE PURE Magic. LOVE your post. Namaste' :-)) Platters were a Fave' of mine; this song was mentioned in a Romance Novel and OH so happy it called me back to yesteryear.
Oh dear I did type that didn't I. Sorry. Yes It is a 33 1/3 LP which is the kind I was privileged to record with a group at age 16.Ours was Red Plastic.:-)) The 78's we used were on the Victrola you had to wind up. The 78's were really thick and heavy.Have no idea where my head was commenting. Thanks for correcting my error. Still both records have warm places in my heart. I really know the difference. (OMG RPM are on my car not records. Hee hee hee)
I know The Ink Spots did this song in the early 50's, then The Platters did a version in the late 50's(which I love). Now if someone did it before the Ink Spots, I don't know.
