I like most of the features available in Scribble. The only downside for me is the text editor itself. It doesn't fill the available space on the page and is nearly the same color as the background surrounding it. This caused me to think I'd lost work multiple times during my trial period.
The formatting of the text is also hard to read. If I add a space between paragraphs to make my writing easier to navigate, it exports extra lines in my text when I export to Word that I have to remove manually. If I don't add an extra line, to save myself a lot of manual editing later, I end up with a wall of text in Scribble that is difficult to read and navigate. The export is currently a simple text copy instead of a true conversion to other formats, so that may be part of the issue.
I also find the AI generation of book covers and characters a bit gimmicky. It's nice to have visual placeholders that you don't have to spend a lot of time on, but I'm sure the AI features are the reason Scribble costs so much. I'd rather have more writing flexibility and formatting features (e.g. Novel-style formatting in the editor instead of block formatting) than AI character pictures. The AI photos aren't as good as what Mid Journey can produce, so I don't think you'd want to use them on a novel cover anyway. I'm sure this will improve in the future, but for now, it's just not there.
While I like a lot of the writing analytics that Scribble provides, the editing experience isn't as good as Scrivener, Dabble, or Atticus, so I'll probably just stick with one of those tools for now.

      This is great feedback thanks!

@@DerekMurphycreativindie Reading over my comment again, I wish I had written more about the analytic features because they're quite nice. My trial period has expired, though, so I don't have access to do them justice. I hope to try Scribble out again when it has had some more time to mature.

Subscription model? $29/mo?Online? AI here we come. Not for me. I'll stay with Scrivener.

Looks fine for extensive planners, plotters, and AI dependents. I’ll stay with Scrivener.

I don't accept renting a program that essentially makes someone else owner of my manuscript unless I keep on paying. Too mafioso.

does it say something like that in the terms? or you just mean, using an online program instead of hosting all the files on your computer? I get that...

@@DerekMurphycreativindie They didn’t say you could still read the files after you no longer pay for the program or they decide to go out of business, so wouldn’t you lose that manuscript and any research or files associated with it?

I like the concept. Do you have a Hero's Journey template

    • @DerekMurphycreativindie
      @DerekMurphycreativindie  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

yes, my 24 chapter plot outline, it's more advanced than the hero's journey... or the simpler version, the Plot Dot. www.creativindie.com/plotdot/

Hi Derek, the Scrivener template is not opening for me. Is it Mac or Windows version? Is it Sciv 3 or another version? The template for Microsoft Word has weird formatting: it appears a a table of contents; headings and CTRL+ links but there's no table of contents. The template for the 24 chapter plot outline, while interesting to read I didn't find the templates useful as above.

I have been looking for something else to move away from Word to something more honed for authors... but $29 a month seems crazy...I pay less than that for the full office suite every month including my email.

Yeah it's only that much because of the built-in AI stuff... if it was mine, I'd have a much lower price for the structure and optional addons.

Give Novelcrafter a try. Reasonable price and excellent story bible.

    Ai base solution -_-.
    Also the tool always online.
No privacy, your data will get scanned and fed into the AI.

I think that's probably true when you eventually publish or put your work online anyway. At least in a program like this, people won't see your work until you decide to share it.

Its copy right protected when its out, and not allowed to be copy.
While gpt, google and all the rest use the 'free' information even in ur mail to teach AI.
Also i wonder what will happen when everyone will make novels faster, we already passing 5 mil book a year, lets say AI is 10 times faster so its 50 mil book... Who the hell going to read it? Who the hell going to pay for it?
AI is cool, and in a world with different economy AI can be amazing, but with current way of living AI will just make the people poor as fuck.

Looks great, AI haters are going to get left in the dust. But I guess they can keep working hard instead of smart if that's what they want. Only downside... I'm not a fan of the monthly subscription model and $29/month is a bit steep. I'd rather just pay $200 upfront and own it forever.

yeah for sure - I think most of the expense is that the AI tools cost money to use.
