Ridiculous "Russian" accent

- John Malkovich at his best seems like he's reading off cue cards. Here he tries to do a Russian accent. It comes off as a bad actor out of his depth. I've frequently seen better acting in high school plays. Who ever thought this guy had talent???

As a Russian, I can say that IS Russian accent. Like of a Russian who really tries to pronounce English sounds correctly but fails. Malkovich is a very good actor, also phonetically.
He's a movie star, not an actor. I agree.
Malcovich's "thing" might not be his acting as much as his intensity when he stares at a character on the screen and when he is unhinged. He's a unique person who has that nobody-speaks-like-me thing that Walken has, Denzel, etc.. sometimes that alone is enough to make a star.
Pretty sure he's just doing an impersonation of Werner Herzog.
Florence Pugh's russian accent as Yelena was atrocious too😂
His best Russian accent was in Rounders. It was extremely excellent and very amazing.

To be fair, his American accent is way off, and he is is from here. Everything except the long "r" is just his weird pattern of speech.
Hmmm... accents are a weird thing. They're not always the cliche sound we think of. I know a Russian person who lived in the states over 10 years and speaks with almost an American accent with that tiny hint of Eastern European/Russian that barely gives it away. Not all Russians have the exaggeratedly Russian accent 🤷🏻♀️
He does a mean French accent as well
