The story of Theri based so much in the chemestry between Vijay and the child, such a sweet father - daughter bond and of course how charming Vijay character is, thats the reason that we as audience feells for everything that happend to him. The bad guy in the original Theri, is a way more raw and realistic character, thats one of the reason that we as audience hate him, he has his bad reasons to do whta he do in the movie (you have to watch it). I dont feel the bond of father - daughter between Varun and the child, Varun inst charming as Vijay, Varun has a problem doing comedy, and its like he always acts the same charcater when he does comedy, and he tryying to be the "cool guy", but what makes me back off the remake in the trailer, is the villian, Jacky Shroff is an amazing actor but they make such a raw and realistic villian, a cartonish character, too much exagerate abd over the top. So, yeah watch the original and then watch the remake.
