These two guys resurrected the band, made them relevant again with some chart topping songs. They put their time in but apparently never fully respected as band members. Bill Champlin one of the most versatile musicians, Jason had big shoes to fill and was incredible. Still one of my all time favorite groups. First concert I ever attended live! I was hooked and continue to enjoy each iteration of the group.
I was looking for a decent live version of this song when I came across this video. As I am watching it I realized that I WAS ACTUALLY AT THIS SPECIFIC CONCERT.
Bill Champlin blows me away...one of the greatest blue eyed soul singers on the planet and Jason Scheff is great......he's an excellent replacement for Cetera...here's a fun fact, when Cetera quit, Chicago originally asked Bobby Caldwell to join, he turned them down
Peter was great, and so was Jeff. They have distinct qualities that are incomparable, but I think Jeff and Bill absolutely nailed it in this particular performance. This kid (back then) has this groove and presence that made the difference.
I saw Chicago in Melbourne last night and Jason was great! His voice was really strong and he still has a fantastic range. He really belted out 26 or 6 to 4. Have seen lots of comments about people not liking him. After all this time, it's a shame he is still compared with Peter Cetera - they're different singers. Oh, Chicago was an amazing concert BTW! First time I've seen them live. Right up there with Toto.
Indeed, they're both different singers, and each very talented. I don't know why Cetera worship is such an intense obsession, why can't they enjoy all the great musicians that Chicago has had over the years without prejudice?
Bill Champlin and Jason Scheff performed this song beautiully. Their performance of this song 10 years later is not quite as good. Their vocals are still fresh here.
I had been always seeing this comparing shit, I don't understand people keeps of comparing two individuals who are obviously two different entities, come on people it's common sense that they will not actually be same in voice , Cetera, Scheff and the new lead. Just enjoy the music.
Come on people, we all know that the Chicago from back then will not be the same. but hey this guy ain't bad at all and every one is talking shit like they can do any better. get on this guy's shoes..
esta es la mejor performance en vivo de este tema , bill no se mando ninguna cagada con la voz y lo hizo muy bien, por que en las otras versiones quiere resaltar y no le sale
I'm so tired of hearing people whine about how bad Scheff sings. Peter left the band on his own, and Chicago wanted to keep playing. They auditioned and signed Jason, and he's doing his best. Yes, he's no Cetera, but I believe that NO ONE can sing like Cetera did. He had vocal talent like nobody's business. Aren't we glad Chicago is still playing?? I sure am! Kind of interesting to see who is touring every year after Cetera left Chicago (hint: it's not Peter Cetera).
I don't know of any other bands so diverse in terms of instruments. The only types of bands these days that have trumpets and trombones are ska-core. I also love that they're all doing vocals and not just one lead singer
Funny how people complained about how Jason butchers this song, I've seen Chicago with Cetera and with Jason, both singers butcher the song live, but I still had a great time, since I don't expect them to sound like the album. I recently saw Cetera live with David Foster and this time, I wish he should have retired, it was really painful to watched
Saw their concert a few days ago. Jason sucked big time. My wife and I were embarrassed for him. It was actually worse than a karaoke rendition and unfortunately soured the overall experience. Really sad. So it actually shocked to me to see this video back in the day when he could pull a decent performance. You wonder why they let him continue doing this?
@yeoGlover Jason's best vocal is from a song called BIgger Than Elvis. I dont mind him on songs that he either wrote or sung after Cetera left. However hearing im or anyone sing Cetera's songs is brutal. Same would go for any other band once you are used to a certain singer. I dont give a rats ass if Cetera comes back he left for a lackluster solo career i think he had 4 or 5 songs make the radio in that 25 years.
Naw. Peter Ceter is a classic vocalist and isn't pitchy like Scheff. Scheff is much groovier on bass though. They're both different like you say, but Cetera has the vocal chops.
Something about Champlin's voice just makes me shiver!

Could not agree more. I think this was preferable to if they'd been the same thing for 20 straight years.
I love this !! Jason and Chamblin!! So beautiful
Excellent song and singers!!!!
GREAT Version... Champlin rocks it and Scheff is at the top of his game here.
Bill and Jason were killer, amazing, emotional duo in this song.

Nuff said

Billy really brought it all on this song tonight. I was really happy to see Billy sing like from the 80's again.
Be still my heart lol beautiful version for sure that is a georgeous man Scheff has my vote!!!
One of their best concerts!

Peter was great, and so was Jeff. They have distinct qualities that are incomparable, but I think Jeff and Bill absolutely nailed it in this particular performance. This kid (back then) has this groove and presence that made the difference.

I love the singers as they duet. I wish though, Bill also swings his body like Jason; these are magical partners I always visualize.
Jason and Bill where magic!!!

Bill is really gettin it in this piece. Soul with an edge....
Wow, Bill's on fire here!
Another great performance is Soundstage.
Bill Champlin and Jason Scheff performed this song beautiully. Their performance of this song 10 years later is not quite as good. Their vocals are still fresh here.
I love you soooo much bill chaplin the way you sing i almost a heart attack 😜❤️🌹😘
True...this is still a very very good version; even w/o Peter Cetera. Chicago still sounds good.
Great live performance!
monstrous performance.

Champlin. So good.
i love this verson too!
wow,awesome,love jason nd champlin
Amazing!
What a group of great sounding men!! Joyce
This is how Bill should always sing instead of screaming all the time.
Simplesmente incrivelmente maravilhoso, duas vozes marcantes , tocantes...............d+++++++
Awesome The Best. Bill and Jeff
I saw Chicago playing with Crosby, Stills and Nash in Tampa Chicago kicked ass. I left half way through CSN.
Love Chicago!! They are an excellent band!! Wow!! 💖💖💖
These two💕
I love it I love them
This is the concert that made me like jason and bill. Rediscovery of chicago
BILL CHAMPLIN IS THE SHIT
I had been always seeing this comparing shit, I don't understand people keeps of comparing two individuals who are obviously two different entities, come on people it's common sense that they will not actually be same in voice , Cetera, Scheff and the new lead.
Just enjoy the music.
Absofuckinglutely, all these crybabies need to grow up.
Come on people, we all know that the Chicago from back then will not be the same. but hey this guy ain't bad at all and every one is talking shit like they can do any better. get on this guy's shoes..
Jason is a hottie!
I love You Bill 🎈❤️💯❤

I miss the old times..

Jason has jason's voice and i agree that he did his best for the band. I even think he brought something better
this lyric best describes my faith. and it has been my song eversince
Scheff never sounded better....literally
it's really hard to break a habit...specially if that habit is when you love someone more than anything else...
PLEASE I NEED THIS TOTAL CONCERT HELPME
Beautiful! Jason is hot lol
Beautful song
How does one get a lock of Jason's hair?
I don't know of any other bands so diverse in terms of instruments. The only types of bands these days that have trumpets and trombones are ska-core. I also love that they're all doing vocals and not just one lead singer
awesome!
Peter who?...I mean Cetera´s great but this guy´s amazing
cetera is long gone....with jason and bill it's much better
I confirm, there is nothing to add or reduce, I love You !!!💘🌈
Funny how people complained about how Jason butchers this song, I've seen Chicago with Cetera and with Jason, both singers butcher the song live, but I still had a great time, since I don't expect them to sound like the album. but how I wish someone could post a,video concert of their song, song for you
dont bash Jason ! plss
They did Hard Habit To Break on The Today Show.
agreed!
Cool
i have that i kind of hair and i love it ^_^
Dweezil Zappa stole his look from Jason!
What's the guitar bass model?
Your still HARD HABIT TO BREAK......
This a new Chicago??
No this is a concert dated of
The 90's. Jason's very young here.
peter is better.... but this one has heart...
this is how songs are sang..
He was the guy who sang with Peter Cetera in the original version?
Perhaps at this point, you already know...but yes, he is!!😁The incredibly soulful, Bill Champlin!!🎵🌟🔥😌
Story of my life lol good song lots of truth in those lyrics good job Jason Scheff much better than Cetera
Teresa Rider, there's no one better than Peter , so why bring his name into it , Peter is a legend !!!!!!!!!
Peter Cetera es el alma de esta cancion, como de todas las canciones de Chicago. La banda ni fue, ni es como fue entonces
Where is Dwayne Bailey?
Is this a offical dvd release?
This version is pretty good...but listen to listen to the David Foster / Arne Pineda version!
What happened to the Average White Band? Also The Buckinghams? Did it turn into Chicago?
By any chance did peter cetera sing will you still love me?? Anyone know? Thanks
that song was from Chicago 18.
No, it was jason scheff who sang will you still love me
Which one is cetera
chew! ;)
Straight downhill since they fired Dawayne Bailey after this show
who is playing the drums?
Tris Imboden
Who's jason? Thanks for the reply,
The lead singer also playing bass.
Not really. This version really showcase Champlins' singing. It's refreshing and not in the style of Cetera. Listen to it again and you'll see.
Could Jasn
you must tune your hearing aid a little more?=)
@yeoGlover Jason's best vocal is from a song called BIgger Than Elvis. I dont mind him on songs that he either wrote or sung after Cetera left. Could Jason be any more beautiful???
Sorry jump the gun 😂😸 don't fire the guy leave him alone 😅!!!!
the tempo is wrong - too fast
Thank god keith howland is on guitar now. Dwayne was on another planet himself not with the band or song.
TOMATO
Indosat muter terus
Naw. Peter Ceter is a classic vocalist and isn't pitchy like Scheff. Scheff is much groovier on bass though. They're both different like you say, but Cetera has the vocal chops.
Sorry but I really think peter is by far better, dnt like this guy's voice at all
Lower down your EGO Peter..reunite pls.
