The lyrics and symbolism are incredible. Amazing insight from when they were so young.

It's a leap of faith to see if he can survive without technology 😮

It’s all an allegory. Symbolism. I think it’s brilliant. They call out those who manipulate us with the blinders of addictive technologies. They call out those who want to blindfold us with bull$#!t to keep us from addressing real world problems, so they can just sell us stuff that makes them rich. This is Pau, Dany, and Ale, getting our attention. The irony is that no one knows the power of social media better than they do! They built a great music business with it.

Take into consideration that this is from 2017. At the time, Dany was 17, Pau was 15, and Alé was 12.

I think the blindfolds are a metaphor for selective blindness. All we see is what's on our screens. And what we want to see.

The ladies use a lot of symbolism and metaphor in their composition. The absurdity of blindfolds and clear phones is intentional to overemphasize their message and get the attention of those who aren't paying attention to the world around them.

Think in terms of metaphors not strictly what you're seeing. They are all blinded from the real world by the technology. The technology is programming us in subtle ways . Those that choose to not use the technology are ostracized. The gentleman in the story took the leap of faith that he could survive without this technology and he did. In fact he got two other people to join him. Well that is my opinion. Great song, interesting video, awesome cinematography.

    *XXI Century Blood*
i always wonder how many others notice the number on the indoctrination pod the baby is placed into... many of us think it may be a shout out to YES and their 1983 album _"90125"_ which was released two years after Yes broke up... you can find a few links to that album in its entirety... not really a music video as it is only the music but you can also find OMVs for some of the songs on that album... the OMV for the first song on that YES album also has a similar theme as this video with "culprits" and "recovery agents"... the video and whole album is a great trip back in time...
so back to this original video by DPA/TW... yes, the imagery is awesome and extremely thought provoking... there's a lot being said in there... one of the main things is about taking a leap of faith and leaving things behind... this is absolutely a track about social media, technology, and how they affect people in ways they don't know or understand... in this case, everyone is so wrapped up in their devices and social media that they cannot see what is going on around them... thus the blindfolds... notice, too, the colors used... when someone takes their blindfold off, the world lights up in the prettier colors of reality...
the video was nominated for and won numerous awards back in 2017...
    - LA CINEFEST Semifinalist 2017
    - Feel The Reel IFF, Audience Award October 2017
    - Official Selection Austin Music Video Festival 2017
    - Best Music Video Nominee Pantalla de Cristal Festival 2017
    - I Filmmaker International Film Festival Official Selection 2017
    - Best Script / Narrative Music Videos Pantalla de Cristal Festival 2017
    - Best Music Video Around Films International Film Festival Barcelona April 2017
(not listed in any specific order)
anyway, great reaction... yes, you're not the only one to be totally shocked at that one point in the video! 😹

Thank you for your reaction, ver good. XXI Century Blood my point of view is the generation is becoming rush addicted thanks to technology, don't see, don't talk, don't interact with other but through technology, is not good, and when you wake up, fall into reality your angry because you realize your time lost, so what are you going to do? is what they ask you at the end when they look at you.

  • @ot9er

IMO, the first major clue is the baby put into the chamber, and it was just one chamber among several. People programmed from birth, and for their entire lives. Could they even have learned, for example, that falling off a building could be fatal? Those who took off their blindfold got bumped into by those with blindfolds on, because losing their blindfold and mobile device took them offline, making them invisible to others still online.
I watched a few times before I was sure I understood what it was about. And now I watch reactors, learning tidbits about human nature, whether they get the message and the story-telling, or not.
    Ditto for Ren's Hi Ren!

Busy building buildings instead of building bridges. Glued to our screens, believing what we are told...not using our brain to think for ourselves. Yeah, technology is great but be yourself. Think for yourself, or A.I. will tell you what is cute, and you will just accept it. We don't communicate any more. Sit at the same table, texting each other. We spend more time trying to find our phones than talking to our families. Easier to text than actually make a real connection.

Nothing contradictory here , lol. The baby being blindfolded refers to kids from a young age being conditioned / brainwashed , relying too much on technology , and much more , i could say .Read the lyrics in detail ,and look at the analogies and metaphors in the video , not difficult to see what the girls are trying to say .The guy survived because he took a leap of faith to escape the matrix , purely metaphorical.

  • @Vikingjay65

Some of the comments are a little more negative than I would have expected.
For the most part, I think you got the general theme, that is digital technology can have a very dark side.
I personally love this song and this video.
Though I must admit until reading through the comments, it never occurred to me that the character who jumps off the building was making a leap of faith to live in the real world sans digital technology.
I guess I’m not as insightful as I had hoped.

I think you took the video a bit too literally as it was intended to be more metaphorical.
Even though it was released in 2017, the song was likely written around 2015 when DPA would have been 15, 13 and 10.
IMO, it holds up very well to today’s standards and the video itself won several awards.
This is the title track to their first full length album XXI Century Blood and is a great album and really shows the potential for what they’ve become today.

From their first album released March 2017. They talked about it during their TEDx presentation in 2017. Written, composed, recorded between 2015-2016. They were 15 (Dany-Guitar), 13 (Pau-Drums), 10 (Ale-Bass) when they started to work on it, they were just 17 (Dany), 15 (Pau), 12 (Ale) when the album was released.

So the moral of the story is we all need to get off all our devices and s*** and start saying hi to each other when we see each other in the street get back to humanity get back to talking face to face not just texting that's what they're trying to say. And the guy who walked off the building, the guy who took his blindfold off and was awakened, he then was faced with the reality of what's real, you know Earth, life, humanity, that's what's real but it would have to be life without all that technology all the time to get back to humanity. That's a scary thing he didn't know if he wanted to do, to give up all the technology that we have now he didn't know if he wanted to live without that. But he would rather live in that world, so he's torn between the two so he walked off the building and kill himself. The fact that he didn't die in the end is the warning's way of saying just try it it might look scary without technology but you'll get used to it you'll LIVE!!!! I'm sure you saw that the girls did not put her blindfold back on maybe you didn't think much of that but that's cuz she was working she's not going back and then he stood up and actually lived and he's not wearing his blindfold and then that third guy just because those two were woke he couldn't even see him cuz he has Bond but he could feel it he just took his blindfold off and is now woke and that is the warning saying look if we all just try and do this a little it'll spread like wildfire and we'll get back to humanity. By the way Wildfire is the name of a song off this Same album it's really great you should check it out. That's my take on it anyway.

Vc precisa sair da primeira camada. O vídeo é sobre libertação. Sobre pensar por ai mesmo entendendo o mundo no qual estamos inseridos. Assista a um vídeo do Yes, Owner of a lonely heart. A temática é bem parecida(além da música ser ótima).
Escrevi em português pq, apesar de entender inglês, não sou fluente e não conseguiria construir o texto em outro idioma. De qualquer forma, o mais importante é que o assunto seja discutido.
