Song is in B minor. Woody plays at the second fret to utilize the open A and D strings instead of at the seventh fret where you would have to actually finger those notes.
Matt Abts is a drum gawd. Warren? Pretty much perfect. Woody? Great. Matt Abts? Under-rated to the Extreme. Matt is the Best drummer you have never heard of. Goddammit, I love this band...... for my money, this original version is the absolute beat.
@Davesax1965 It looks like an EB-3L to me. I could be totally wrong, but Woody did have some long scales Gibby's in the arsenal. Woody was the REAL God of THunder, to me.
I got to see the true lineup of Gvt Mule TWICE around this time as a teenage guitar nerd. They were mindblowing then and remain so today. I wore this album out. It is required listening for sure.
you got that right..woody was a one of a kind... yeh andy, was more laid back style, i like it too. but, i got spoiled by Allen Woodys' sound in this song...peace..oh i have not heard the new guy yet...
@ausmule1 Very very true my friend! Never thought of it in that context but for real this line up was fucking crazy and the music they produced is incredible.
Yeah +1 on the bass close ups. Is Woody Playing an Epiphone in this clip? It has Gibson (Like the Epi Elites do) on the Truss cover. And the logo while a bit blurred looks longer than Gibson. I also notice that Woody plays this down near the nut where Andy Hess plays the same song up around the 7th fret. Awsome band.
RIP Woody. .. the Mule was never the same after his passing.
I just restored a '67 EB-3 and it's now my Woody tribute bass. Never had a short scale bass until now. I'm lovin' it!
Thank you for enabling the embed code again on this video! My FAVORITE Mule song, of all time!!
3 very talented musicians. Sad that Allan is no longer with us.

RIP Woody - best 7 bass notes this side of Bowlegged.

I love Warrens tone with the Saldano! Its pretty much a modded marshall and has an extra mids boost.
