I always fall short of words after any video of this channel ends. I take a deep breath and wonder about our place in this infinitely large and unexplored universe. This channel has to be the best one in this domain. Love this channel
My Dad and I used to watch shows like these videos on discovery and nat geo. I'm 35, your video on the size of the universe had me. Emotional, intrigued, informed and entertained. Keep it up man.
Great content as always, we sometimes are so wrapped up in our own lives, that we forget how much is going on in the universe around us. So many questions to be answered! We are insignificant, yet so unique. The universe is such a wonder to behold.
I’m not sure if you write your own scripts, but you’re one of the only TH-camrs within your genre that is able to string together captivating stories that keep me attentive and engaged. I love Isaac and some of the others, they might know their science, but they can’t quite tell a story like you do. Your choice of verbiage, elegant prose, and great delivery leaves me always looking forward to your next creation. Keep up the great work!
This man was born to be a teacher, I cannot get enough of his content. Thank you for sharing with us, and please keep up the great videos. You are a true artist!🙋🏼♀️💕
The pair instability supernova sounds a lot like a hydrogen bomb if you think of it. You have a sudden inward compression of the star's core causing runaway fusion, same as a series of atom bombs compressing a man-made core until it undergoes runaway fusion. It's like an H-bomb is a mini supernova. Kind of ironic that these supernovae seeded the universe with the elements that let us exist yet we risk destroying ourselves with our own homemade supernovae.
Very true, and yes, ironic. My dad, who was as progressive a humanitarian as could be found anywhere, worked on machining the plutonium triggers for those bombs. He had a hard time talking about it, and was happy to get a different job about halfway through my childhood. But having seen firsthand what happened under Japanese occupation, he was hesitant to condemn the use of the weapons. I wish he could have seen "Oppenheimer.
I love your analogy to the fictional works of Tolkien. This just once again shows that the arts and the sciences are not separate. They can and do beautiful inform and inspire each other. I've been watching your videos for a few years now and I just want to say thank you! You've revived that burning desire to explore space and my childhood enchantment with the stars.... astronomy has always been a part of me and everytime I dive back into it, that passion in me re-ignites.
The reference to Tolkiens Two Trees of Valinor was just marvellous! I've been entranced by in-depth LOTR lore for a while bow and during the video, my thoughts actually drifted towards the two trees. And when he actually showed a picture of Tolkien, I immediately knew where he was going with it and I was amazed because it just fit so perfectly. For a while there, I thought I ended up watching an in-deep-geek video. I didn't ever expect to watch a video where two passions of mine as dissimilar as those ever met. This is an excellently produced channel with great factual information and entertaining topics with a highly knowledgeable host. This channel should be way larger! Love it
Thank you so much for what you do. My understanding of our world is clearer and I even feel a certain peace knowing what a wonder it is that we even exist in a universe that has such a complex history.
I absolutely love this man's voice. I have autism and sensory processing disorder and I can't stand most narrators, which is unfortunate because the only thing that really calms me down to help me sleep at night the past few years have been space documentaries. 0 no I can follow this channel along with sea and space rip! Ty!!!
Thanks David, that was sublime. I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of Population lll stars. The possibility of the continued existence of the smallest and thus potentially long lived members of these first stars is wonderful. I’m also a huge fan of JRR Tolkien and appreciated your references from Ainulindalë and Valenquenta concerning the first light sources of Eä, ergo The 2 Lamps followed by the 2 trees Telperion and Laurelin which after their destruction by Melkor and Ungoliant yielded a single flower and fruit which became our moon and sun. 3 generations.
Cracking the complexity of creations of this universe has become ever more complicated than before after the advent of modern telescopes. Your narratives are amazing and awesome. Comparatively easier to digest.
It has been a few months since I subscribed to your channel, it took only 2 or 3 of your segments. For whatever the reason, your videos, your voice, your musical choices, have such an astonishingly calming effect on my mind, they simply resonate in a perfect pitch with my inner peace of mind, something I can hardly ever reach on my own, as if there was a shut door I can never open. It is such a strange and strong effect that sometimes, after a days work, the struggles of a dying marriage, the attempts of keeping a smiling positively energized aura for my child to be around, I just come here in my studio, put one of your videos on, lay down on the carpet and just close my eyes to listen. I am totally loving how it transports me away, brings me calm and peace, allows find my inner strength and positivity, recharges my mind, and all of this, while I am literally getting educated on the subject I love the most, space, the place of our birth where everything comes from and everything will end at its own time and terms. It stimulates my imagination to just picture the depth of space, with stars, remnants of supernovae, galaxies, gas clouds, black holes with enormous and powerfully luminous accretion disks, and all there is out there. While I lay down on the floor, the music quietly plays, and I imagine myself flying through all of that, in peaceful silence, gently cradled by the notes, as my mind revs down and comes to a state of equilibrium. There is no doubt you are a highly educated and competent scientist, but that is nothing if compared to the love and passion you put into making these pieces of artistry, which to me, seems to be your ultimate true talent. All I can say is "THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU" for just merely existing at my same time, and having fallen in love with your job, which you do so magnificently well, and thanks to which, I can reset my mind, find piece, strength, nurture my love for science and space, in the hope to foster all of this into my child, day by day, video by video, soundtrack by soundtrack, for the years to come. I am sorry I can't say I will support you with an arbitrary multiple-digit "n" amount of Euros or $, as I don't have that ability, but I will surely buy some of your merch, and more surely, will be sharing your wonderful stuff with people, in words, posts and whatever other way I can. Once again, THANK YOU, and please, PLEASE, never stop!!!
Professor/Dr. Kipping, i constantly come back and re-watch all your videos, it's the only channel that fulfils my itch for knowledge on all things Space, you're the BEST, thank you for your hard work so we can benefit and learn from it, very much appreciated.
My friend(Mellon), any reference to Tolkien and especially, The Silmarillien, is always welcome! Perhaps the Eru’s great original theme was the Baryonic Acoustic oscillations. 🤔
mae govannon, mellon nin! =) what if tolkien was, subconciously of course, near to the truth of the beginning of the Universe (Eä)? (this is not scientific, of course)
Dear Professor David Kipping, I am so thankful to you and your team for providing this content. You have done something amazing in this universe and forever that work will flourish through time and space. Keep up the great work.
I haven't had a chance to watch this yet, but I just wanted to tell you that you have a very compelling way of presenting your videos. It makes it accessible and understandable, while also drawing the viewer into the topic. Thank you for this wonderful channel :) also, they help me sleep at night, much like watching a Bob Ross video haha
Man, this is a good one. I've been an amateur astronomer since my late teens, now 68, and never understood the gamma rays converting to electron/positron stuff. Many thanks for this.
So when I call people trash or vice versa, I'm technically correct! I'm joking. David, your channel has reignited my love for the cosmos. I feel like a Population I star, filled with all that the universe has to offer. I thank you for that.
Awesome video! I've said it before, you and your team do an amazing job at presenting this knowledge in a way that anyone can understand and appreciate! Thank you so much!

I absolutely love your videos, its because of videos like these that i found the inspiration to pursue physics not for sake of career but simply for understanding. I have autism and sensory processing disorder and I can't stand most narrators, which is unfortunate because the only thing that really calms me down to help me sleep at night the past few years have been space documentaries. 0 no I can follow this channel along with sea and space rip! Ty!!!
I really appreciate the way you present scientific knowledge in a poetical manner! Well done, sir!
For someone like me who briefly touched the subject of PopIII stars in the diploma, this was very, very poetic!
Thanks for watching and for those kind words
Professor/Dr. Kipping, i constantly come back and re-watch all your videos, it's the only channel that fulfils my itch for knowledge on all things Space, you're the BEST, thank you for your hard work so we can benefit and learn from it, very much appreciated.
Thank you!!
@@CoolWorldsLab Seriously, NO, Thank you !
You are an artist
Why would two people dislike a video they have not even watched yet?
they are flat earthers, they dont believe in space
Are you saying the sky is not a giant ceiling? Ridiculous! /s
Bots?
Australians.
It's four now so maybe they came back to see if it's changed (like the guy that kept watching the film Titanic for an alternative ending).
Love this channel so much, thank you. 👍
We'll never be as cool as Kipping in that jacket in the forest talking primordial stars.
We are unauthorized to be that cool
I won't lie, but such videos triggers my sleep pretty well.. with that relaxing bgm...
Hands down the best channel on this website.
Awesome video! I've said it before, you and your team do an amazing job at presenting this knowledge in a way that anyone can understand and appreciate! Thank you so much!
Incredible episode. Last 60 seconds gave me shivers.
Subbed! Great content...and then you mentioned Tolkien?! How could I not sub! Looking forward to seeing more wonders of the universe. Your content is brilliantly made :)
This is easily the best channel on TH-cam. Thank you so much for this high quality content.
I absolutely love your videos, its because of videos like these that i found the inspiration to pursue physics not for sake of career but simply for understanding. Videos like these are why i hunger for knowledge, to understand and unravel the unknown. its a passion beyond passions one that can inspire feelings that none other can.
Awesome, I’ve been waiting!
Sitting in a forest, wearing a leather jacket, looking into the camera, and saying metal. If that's not cool, I don't know what is. No, seriously, I don't know what is, please help me.
Do more of these videos outside. That scenery is perfect.
That piece on the dark stars, was so well explained, even I understood. The whole documentary was brilliant.
4:51 I love that jacket bro. Suits your well.
Sir The way you explain complicated stuff is simply out of the world and I am addicted to your channel plz make more videos cant want..
Lots of love from India ❤😁
Thank you yet again, Professor! Beautiful video, absolutely.
I have a habit of clicking 'like' to these videos when they begin. I was never disappointed !
This video is truly glorious! I don't know why, but studying those vast wonders of the universe gives me the greatest sense of equally freedom and belonging.
got to say this has to be one of the best channels on TH-cam i can listen to all the programs over and over
you should do a program with Brian cox would be epic
Dr Kipping, your voice is so amazing! I truly enjoy listening to the words you speak and the way new information excites you! Thank you for all this new info..
One of the best channels on TH-cam. Absolutely love your videos.
I really enjoy how poetic his scripts are. Top notch content!
Second time watching this, been here since it was uploaded, you deserve millions man, probably my favorite channel on this platform.
You get me everytime with the final thought....your speeches are so good, not forced or fake, I dare to say it seems like u just come up with this stuff off the cuff!!!??
Either way, no trash on this channel....all treasure
Just found this channel 2 months ago and I'm almost already caught up! 😁 You honestly have my space interest peaked and I need to watch more! Keep it up mate , cheers! 👊🏼😁
Amazing content as always. This channel more then any other I have encountered expands thought. What a wonder the study of astronomy actually is, it must be quite a privilege to do what you do.
"Looking for lost light"
David, that's an awesome quote.
"That's pretty metal" was also a nice phrase drop.
"I'd say we're pretty metal" best line in the video 😂
Heavy metal dude! Strums air guitar.
It's good, but I'd say 'lumps in the primeval cosmic batter' steals it. A line worthy of Douglas Adams
