  • We had a great week at the pitzer ranch and got to see some amazing horses and good people. Fun to see where our horses come from and see how the pitzer ranch runs their horse sale. If you haven’t been we encourage you to go! We also bought our next prospect and we are super excited.

    There is another You Tube Channel that goes to the Pitzer Ranch to get horses and sell as well, Amry Palmer from Arizona. I love the Dark Grey and White Mesh hat with Red Lettering cap that you are wearing.

    Wow loved seeing the Pitzer Ranch events! Could have watched that all day! With a full narrative! Beautiful countrysides in video to enjoy as well. Love hearing about the weather and the temperature; hope to hear if any storms are coming in--I'm a meteorology geek as well.......Lastly for now, I love hearing & seeing the Little One as he participates and learns the ways of his past & future. Truly a pleasure. Thank you for sharing!

    PDR is much closer and has desert bred and raised horses. Do you buy from them?
    Some of us started watching your channel due to their recommendation.

      Sorry for my slow response, I am just getting caught up. Thank you for watching. I totally agree, PDR has fantastic horses and we would love to buy something from them in the future. And yes, for us desert bred and horses that run out are a huge plus! We have reached out to them and asked about getting on their list. Their babies are in big demand. We really want one out of their stud Monster, but there is a wait for one of his. Thanks again for your comments

    Do you happen to remember the hip number of the first buckskin colt you showed and how much he sold for?

    • @shawnjack8092
      @shawnjack8092 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry, I am just catching up, thanks for watching. He was hip number 286 and I stepped out of the sale to look at the one we bought and missed what he went for. But he was really nice. The other one in the video was number 284 and he was super nice as well. I am trying to find out what they each sold for but have not found anyone who wrote it down.

      @@shawnjack8092 That’s ok. I appreciate the reply. Hopefully they print what the horses sold for and with the hip number I can do a little research. Thanks again

      Thank you for watching, I am so sorry to hear that you have been sick for so long. You must be incredibly tough to be able to keep going. We are actually going to start two colts in the next few weeks and plan on sharing videos of their progress. We will also be sharing videos of the colt we bought and show you how we work with our young horses. Thanks again for you comments, and hang in there.

    Did you buy the mare too or just the baby? Do you have to buy the mom in order to get the baby? I don't know anything about horses. I just like them.

    So sad for the moms to lose their babies you can hear their stress !

  • @CatsSleepyHollow

    The sad part about it is that Kill Pens, and thus Slaughter Trucks, are filled with Quarter Horses. So many work and sports horses end up slaughtered! Many of them with papers! Or well trained! Or brood mares that never got trained and thus are considered worthless! Statistics say 2/3 of those in the Slaughter Pipeline are Quarter Horses!
    Not to be an Arse, but to me that's about as ungrateful for what they give you as the Amish treat their Field and Driving Horses!

    • @tracyjohnson5023
      @tracyjohnson5023 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not based on what I've seen over the last 50 years. It's all breeds. To some people, horses are livestock no different than a cow when their usefulness to that person is over.
      Yes, there are horses that end up on the truck that are now crippled after serving humans. For many Amish, that horse is their car and tractor and they're practical people who would mostly rather get $100 than use a bullet to put the horse down at home. But I know a few that retire them and keep them too.
      Most of the ranchers I know have kept their retired horses too if they could afford it and if not have buried them at home.
      Before DNA testing and social media kill pens, big time breeders that show used to be the worst about taking their culls to sales without registration papers because they didn't want it known their stock produced anything other than the best. Now they're afraid somebody might expose them.
      I've been to thousands of sales and usually the horses that aren't crippled, crazy or never handled don't end up on the slaughter truck, even if a trader buys them.
      Although I don't like horse slaughter, I am all for bringing it back here to the USA, where at least conditions were regulated. Mexico is horrific.
      I don't have the answer about how to stop slaughter completely as there is not a home for every horse and people aren't going to stop overbreeding. So what does someone do when they can't or won't keep a horse? Most rescues are overflowing and desperate for money to take care of what they have now.
