Prophet Yunus (AS) was sent by Allah to guide the people of Nineveh, who were engaged in sinful behavior. Frustrated when his message went unheeded, he left the city without Allah's permission. On a sea journey, a great storm struck, and Yunus realized he had erred. He repented sincerely and was swallowed by a whale. Inside the whale's belly, he prayed for forgiveness. Allah accepted his repentance, and the whale cast him ashore unharmed. Yunus returned to Nineveh, where the people repented, and their city was spared from Allah's punishment. This story highlights the importance of patience, repentance, and Allah's boundless mercy.

A man once complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the hardness of his heart so the Messenger ﷺ said to him, “If you want to soften your heart then feed the poor and stroke the head of the orphan” (Aḥmad).

He did not confess to disobeying god. He attempted to convince the people but they wouldn’t listen and so he became frustrated and that’s why he left the city. Not because he disobeyed god. That is a disrespectful way of characterizing the prophets of Allah.

"Not repent" if he didn't said that dua ism e azam he would've stayed in that belly. HE was a prophet of course he repented immediately, but that dua is what made all the difference
