@ The drama is with a few owners who decided not to pay their HOA fees to the community. We’ve been carrying them and now they think this will get them out of paying their fair share.
@@freetowandernow Allegedly Joel is being sued.. for fraud..and for breach of Contract.. maybe it doesn't affect every buyer. But she is giving good advice... Don't trust before verification.. and get legal assistance with every Real Estate purchase in another country... word to the wise.
@ Actually I believe that was thrown out of court for lack of grounds but the problem really is A few of our ‘neighbours’ don’t pay their bills. We aren’t fazed though as we knew that a condo vs a house means being in more of a community so we’re learning!

Well done articulating the issues that come with buying Real Estate in Latin America. I sold Condos in Costa Rica years ago, loved it but every builder had their issues along with the HOA drama. I am thinking about coming down to the Puerta Vallarta/Bucerias area and look around at the Real Estate there. Keep up that adorable delivery and smile!

There were a lot of hurdles and a big learning curve buying in Mexico but 3 years later, I’m still happy with the decision. I own rental property in New Jersey also and there are problems everywhere…just do careful due diligence, always hire lawyer, assume 5x more time for everything in mexico, and look for a team of professionals you can trust. After a lot of patience, it’s been so worth it :)

What's currently happening in say Florida, is quite telling. And I know of REIs who 'target' HOA as well as tax and lender foreclosures.) The majority are always interested in advice from experienced people, who "tested the waters," before them!
