Did You Know In THE SOPRANOS…

  • That actor James Gandolfini, who played Tony Soprano in the show, used an unconventional method to feign anger in the show? Tony Soprano is one of television’s most memorable characters, but he is also one of the most irritable men ever depicted on screen. It’s no wonder why, with “two” families to be mindful of - one at home and one at work - things can get pretty stressful when you’re a mob boss. James Gandolfini on the other hand could not have been further from the irritable criminal mastermind he depicted on screen and so went to some uncomfortable lengths to feign annoyance. Reportedly, Gandolfini would walk around with a stone in his shoe during takes. This uncomfortable addition to his routine would add to the annoyance displayed by Tony in certain scenes. Additionally, Gabndolfini would even go as far as to limit his sleep for scenes when Tony would wake in the morning looking tired. Now, that is some dedication to a role!

James Gandolfini gave a decade of his life in order to create one of the greatest pieces of art a group of human beings could make. The Sopranos has truly the basis for a good TV show

My fiancé and I grew up near the areas where they filmed the sopranos. He told me a story about how him and his dad were at a diner when he was little and they were filming a scene for one of the episodes in the building and the director kindly asked if everyone could not interrupt them as they were working. Everyone obliged and after they finish James gandolfini personally came in and paid for everyone’s meals as a thank you and then treated all the kids to ice cream next door. He was a true gem.

No actor ever broke my heart like James Gandolfini. He didn't even think he was a good actor. He thought these were tricks he could use so he wouldn't have to ACT... but these tricks betrayed that he was one of the most dedicated, intensely thoughtful actors of all time.

It’s crazy how several times in the show it was predicted that he would die at 50 of a heart attack. Chrissy said it when they were doing an intervention on him.

I had tears in the end. Tony was my anti hero. But the man who played Tony is a hero a bigger than life person. James … really was just a dam good human being. Double the absence I feel from the loss of this man ❤
