Hi guys, I really appreciate your videos. I just have small correction option: I would recommend to share as police number 112, not 158 because they don't speak English in 158. I am living 10 years in Czech Republic and I speak broken Czech. However, they didn't understand me when I called 158. I managed to understand that they told me in Czech to call 112 for English. So, I would recommend to not share in your videos 158, but share 112.
Also massive advantage of 112 is that they will always answer, when you try 158 or 156, line is occupied almost everytime so it's wasting of time calling to these numbers.
@@Pidalin Also 112 works even on unlocked phones and phones without a sim card, and it works in nearly every country. 112 doesn't start a normal phone call, but is actually a built-in feature of phones. It doesn't always work on land lines though.

@dejuren I'm glad you are such a safe traveler. Though I do wonder what you are running from to travel to so many dodgy places? And bragging about it? Thinking yourself superior to all those who never travel? What's the point? No one is superior to anyone else. We are marooned in this world looking for meaning. And often in the wrong places. I hope you find something meaningful out there. Travel can be just as much a drug as anything else we use to substitute for meaning. I am working on a series on Travel and Reality for my main channel. It won't make a lot of travelers happy.
I was in Prague two days ago, I never had much to think about the city before I started to watch your videos about a year ago or so. I was missing out, wonderful city, I'll return soon!
Love your videos man, unfortunately not everywhere people can create videos like this, in America if you come across filming the wrong gang at the wrong time or revealing some criminal operation your corpse full of bullet holes may wind up on skid row. Despite all of the scams, Prague seems to be a safer place than most of the USA or Latin America as a whole, but I love to see the bad guys getting caught, please be careful out there and continue busting them, including those hiding behind business walls and suits, gotta catch'em all 😎👍 Let's launch the Scammermon Go game 🤣👍
This must be why in 1994 I saw Poles in Komárom, Hungary, searched - first their suitcases and then apparently strip searches in the back. They had lots and lots of forint hidden in toilet paper rolls. I also saw gypsy moneychangers in a Budapest train station who could accost and transact in Mandarin.
We were recently in Prague (what a great city!) and were surprised about the fact that everywhere in the centre we were able to pay contactless by card. We never used cash.
I just love your usual tourist guide content - I've learned a lot from it and I can't wait to get back to Czechia and check out some stuff I've missed the previous times! But I have to say that what you're doing regarding scammers is next level, and until the local administration and police in every major city get better at their job and come up with solutions, this is something that should inspire many more locals. So thank you for being an inspiration for us all and for trying to make life better and safer!
German here: biggest scam in Germany is around end of September to October in Munich. It's called Oktoberfest, on which you pay between 14 and 18 Euros for 1L beer, 60 euros for half a chicken and 8 euros for each of the sides you have with the chicken. A 2 person menu will come out between 160 to 180 Euros, depending which tent you get into. Don't give them the money, go out and into a local restaurant, you will pay 1/3 of that.
Last time I paid for a beer here in Norway it cost me (with current conversion rates) 9-10 EUR . What does a beer normally cost at a bar/ dining place there? Been a long time since I visited Germany
@@a_921beer in Germany is usually like 3 euros last time I went if I recall correctly. It's at least a LOOOOT cheaper than Norway lol (fellow Norwegian here)
Im austrian living about 10-15km away from the czech border so i visit quite often, your videos always helped me check for scams, i have never been scammed, i dont know if your videos have helped me or if i got lucky but thanks for doing what you are doing
Regarding the question of „stupid tourists“: before the iron curtain fell it was common for tourists from west Germany to do „black market exchanges“ in east Germany. While the official exchange rate was 1:1, you could get up to ten „Ostmark“ for your „Deutsche Mark“ from people hanging around tourist areas. I know people who did the same visiting other Eastern European countries, not sure about Czechia though. Therefore some people might think it’s normal to get a better exchange rate on the street in Eastern Europe, forgetting how things have changed. And even back then you hat to be careful not to get scammed or run into secret police.
ive watch some videos in a certain country where the govenment put the exchange rate really low and so there would be black markets set up to get better exchange rates, a group of poeple were so pissed off at the government a group of people set this up and they had other people take the money to countries near by and get a better exchange rate. it wasnt a guy on the street it would be ine like a corner store so its not out in public which is super sketch but the fact they are doing what i would call "good crime" is very respectable
Argentina is an example where you should change your money on the black market. But there it is very common and normally you will not get tricked and you get up to twice as much as the official rate..
Thanks, I was always curious why are people from western europe changing money at street, it's so weird and bizare idea for me as Czech, but maybe you are correct and it's some relict of the past. We also had money changers at streets during communism, they were selling special currency used to buying western products in special shops.
Of the 12 or so years I've been watching u-tube videos, this channel is one of the best I have seen. An unlimited wealth of information is given by these 2 men, which cannot be said about most videos on u-tube. I realize they have made several scam videos, but I wouldn't mind seeing more of the assholes who offer worthless bills for euros. This probably could be a full time job for some if they pursued it. I was also surprised to hear stealing under 400 euros is a misdemeanor. Stealing people's money should bring harsh punishments world wide. This law should be changed! Hats off to these 2 guys for an excellent channel! :)
Janek & Honza, You have no idea how much I saved and how much fun I had because of you. You made my trip safe and easy I also visited restaurants and places you recommended. About money scammers, I noticed that they hide till they notice a tourist. I had fun with the scammers too telling them that I'll return later with 1000$ at night cuz they have rates much better than banks 🤣
so sad to hear Polish language in one of scammers. As Pole I feel ashamed for that. as you said, Janek, you started to fight with them because they cause bad reputation of entire nation. I feel sorry now to see that someone from Poland is scamming tourists in Prague. you're guys are doing great job!:)
Why do I find this so fascinating! I can't get enough! I have never been and never plan on going but if I ever do I will be well prepared for these SCAMS!
Hi janek and Honza I follow you since your First video. I ve been in Prague with school in 2012 and the First thing my teacher Say to us when we jump off the coach in the centre was:" guys dont change Money in the street. Only in change shop or hotel even if the have an awful rate. IT's Better have Little Money than have no Money."
I found that as long as you're mindful of your belongings you won't get pick pocketed. When I was in Prague I usually kept my phone and wallet in the interior pocket of my jacket or kept my cross-body bag in front of me.
Making plans to visit Prague in the coming months. So glad to know someone is looking out for their own cities reputation. And want me as a tourist to not only come once but again. Thanks! 😊
The work you guys do is amazing! You should really consider going to Paris to Sacré-Cœur, for the French String Scam and others. I recently got scam there… or rather forced to pay by a gang of 8 African men. I guarantee that you will make a lot of good content there!
This happened to me last week but I was really stern when the black dude grabbed my wrist. I looked him in the eye and said "don't touch me" and he backed off
YOU are their worst nightmares! And because of your videos, I have been able to travelled to Prague few months ago without being scammed! I was very cautious about getting cash from legit ATM only. THANK YOU ❤
You guys are doing great job. But be careful with this scamers. I was few month ago in Prague and it was great holidays. Lot of places was visited from your videos. Stay safe and keep doing good work.

Hello, I have a lot of fun when I see these videos and I respect a lot the work you do to defend your city and the name of your country. One detail bothers me, I'm Romanian and these individuals you keep referring to are GYPSIES or (RRomi), some very colorful characters from our country and their behavior is the same all over the world... The fact that you mentioned the country of origin of these individuals, please differentiate between Romanian and GYPSIES Keep it like this and bring out these ... special characters
To answer your second question: The real reason that the scammers go to CZ is because the police and the courts are too bloody soft on them. Let's be honest here, you need to consider focusing your attention on why the courts and police are so ineffective. Be more critical of them!!! They are the only ones who can solve this problem and they are doing fuck all. We have all seen videos of you taking on the local councils and official businesses. You now need to take on the courts and government. It is not the scammers that would stop me from going to CZ, its the actions of the police, courts and government.
People like these scammers are the reason why I’m gonna teach my kids to always research about the money systems if they traveling somewhere they aren’t familiar with.
Thank you for targeting scammers. Poor Tourists like me save litterally years for one week trip. (It took me a year to save two thousand.) Every week putting small amount aside and doing without games/clothing/food. Just to be scammed by these pondscum. I would respect a drugdealer or someone selling illgeal alcohol because in the end they give a person what they paid for. If they're so desperate they should do that. Scammers on the other hand they just rob you leaving you with NOTHING. There is no excuse or reason to forgive this behaviour. It makes people lose trust and effects thier whole life.

Thank you.., I probably will never go for a holiday in Prague (financially), but I love your videos which bring scamming in general to the front of everybodies mind. Good Karma to you and your friends for making these.
Two things, first is that I wish more people cared about their country like you guys do. Secondly, I don't think people who get scammed are stupid. I've known intelligent people nearly get caught up in things because they were just having an off day, or they didn't realise they weren't fully understanding something. A lot of people don't report scams, because they're worried about looking stupid. What you guys are doing is teaching street smarts. Godspeed!
Thank you for your videos, you have saved us money while we were visiting Prague back in July of 2019. The guy that who scammed was in your video and I recognized him. Glad I watched your videos before visiting Prague. He was waiting outside of our hotel and ask if we wanted to change money and just happened that we need it to change, he then pulled out ( Don't know what currency ) and it was too many zeros at the back, and when I checked against what I have in my wallet which I had exchange money at the Airport when we arrived and it wasn't the same money and before I even asked him a question, he just run away from us. Then I remember your video about the money scams....He is an Indian guy with baseball hat. Thank you again.
I was able to step in and prevent somebody getting scammed after watching one of your videos back in 2019. It happened near the KFC, if your interested.

Hi I'm Colombian and in June I went to Prague to travel and I saw one of these scammer, didn't know who to call so I just told everyone there to not change money from him and then when to my hotel
I was in Warsaw last month and honest guide is very famous there too. I used my credit card for every payment (including one for a toilet visit) but I missed Prague.
Great content 👌 I recently moved to Czech a few years ago, whilst I was in Prague for the first time they tried to scam me, fortunately I knew the currency, so I was lucky. Keep up the great work 👍
I expiereinced that scam at my first visit to Praq in 2004. However I recognized the cyrilic letters on the rubbles. However this scam must exist since there is money exchange & tourists. Great Job !
Well I'd like to think that I am aware of scammers and pickpockets. I like to research ahead of traveling. When I'm in large cities, I plan ahead, looking at maps beforehand and walk to my destination with intent, rather than look around confused. If I hear someone strange calling me, I ignore them and keep moving. I keep my wallet in my front pocket and use twist ties on backpack zippers (Rick Steves tip). I try not to be the easiest to prey upon.
I just came across your videos and it is great to see you really care. I am a researcher in tourism and understand this is one of the most important critical areas that lead some destinations to create a tourism police. It would be great to talk to you one day. All the luck!
One (minor) problem, is that if you do a bit of Googling before you travel, you are always warned about accepting the money exchange rate from the airport or your hotel. I would rather lose 5% or 10%, rather than deal with some sketchy rando on the street.
..And it’s true, better go to bank or even ATM (they are like few hundred meters apart in Prague) and just withdraw the money in local currency if you feel you need some small cash. Otherwise always pay with card. No card accepted? Fishy business, don’t go there.
Thanks for talking this trash from czech and polish streets. I felt ashamed wwatching this episode. Ive been in Prague over 10 times, 3 times in Czech only this year already. I feel sorry that you have to deal with this kind of human trash. Take care, dont let them hurt you. And thanks for making my favourite city better.
Agreed. If that country was serious about protecting tourists, they would change the laws. The current laws are way too lenient and it only encourages scamming because the consequences are so low.
Dude, i love your videos thank you so much for showing us the truth! I've been to Prague a few times and have not ran into any of those money scams or anyone trying to harass me, probably because i look like i will straight up murder a mf. Anyway, Prague rocks and keep doing the good work. Love you
It usually boils down to trying getting something for nothing or at a cheap price. If one is honest they are unlikely to get scammed on the streets. In my travels I only exchange money at banks or bureau de Change. Yes I know that I will be cheated by many bureaus on the exchange rate but I know that I won't get robbed by doing some back ally or on the street deals. In my travels I've generally followed the mantra, if it looks sketchy, then it is, therefore don't go there and do that. Love your channel, I wish I could visit Prague one day but it is unlikely.
I've decided that many tourists who complain about getting cheated in some European city actually get perverse excitement from it. For them, it's part of the thrill of the trip.
12:20 I was scammed once when I was a teenager. I bought a Nokia N97 with a display to replace. It looked like the original, but it turned out that the display was 2mm shorter xD and as for money, I simply don't trust people. Sometimes if I'm in a tight spot, sometimes I'll pay more, but I'm aware that it happens and on the other hand I see how easy it is to scam people, not necessarily just tourists.
My take is that if a tourist tries to get an advantage thinking that a guy in the street of any city is making him a favor with a favourable change (or any other "deal"), he is either gullible or in deceit... However, you are surely doing a great job t keep the streets of Prague clean, keep it up!

The HG smartens this chump up!
🤡
Despite all of the scams, Prague seems to be a safer place than most of the USA or Latin America as a whole, but I love to see the bad guys getting caught, please be careful out there and continue busting them, including those hiding behind business walls and suits, gotta catch'em all 😎👍
Let's launch the Scammermon Go game 🤣👍
This must be why in 1994 I saw Poles in Komárom, Hungary, searched - first their suitcases and then apparently strip searches in the back. They had lots and lots of forint hidden in toilet paper rolls. I also saw gypsy moneychangers in a Budapest train station who could accost and transact in Mandarin.
Sorry from Poland for this people
We were recently in Prague (what a great city!) and were surprised about the fact that everywhere in the centre we were able to pay contactless by card. We never used cash.
This is true after covid especially, even smallest vietnamese bistro has a card terminal.
Yes, because they need to pay the City. The City leases the place for highest bidder, that is how they make their money back.
You guys are awesome!! Can’t say thank you enough for all the tourists. See you in Prague next year 😁
Regarding the question of „stupid tourists“: before the iron curtain fell it was common for tourists from west Germany to do „black market exchanges“ in east Germany.
@@Mykhaiel Yes, but they're taking advantage of the culture and ignorance of the tourists.
@@MrPeddapee Not a good idea to go there in the first place.
2:37 Those are def. Romanians, I can hear one of them saying "Bă" which means "Hey"
You are doing a service to your country.much respect... keep doing what you are doing guys.take care and God bless.from UK 🇬🇧👍
so sad to hear Polish language in one of scammers.
Andbe extra careful on the prague metro...
Making plans to visit Prague in the coming months. So glad to know someone is looking out for their own cities reputation. And want me as a tourist to not only come once but again. Thanks! 😊
Glad to see your restless attitude to bring attention to this problem.
Great videos. Tourists are not stupid (well some maybe), but rather naive, ignorant etc. and hence as you said vulnerable. Keep up the good work.
I looked him in the eye and said "don't touch me" and he backed off
You guys are the real superheroes! You have all of our support 👍🏻
Thank you for your genuine honesty. Please try to stay safe.
Good vibes to all of you creating these videos.
Maybe worth spraying their back with bright paint, this will cost them to replace clothing or be seen, it won’t take long to spread the word about the paint
Episodes about scammers are my favourite!
The fact that you mentioned the country of origin of these individuals, please differentiate between Romanian and GYPSIES
Keep it like this and bring out these ... special characters
Problem is we cannot legally say they are gypsies because it’s considered racist and one could get into trouble.. unbelievable, maybe? :))
I’m so happy that any country I’ve been to I’ve have had friends who either had family or friends of the family to teach me the way of their streets
You are unbelievable, I’m getting addicted to your videos.
Keep it up, love it!
I respect dealers as well😂
Congratulations. Real nice job you do, awaring travelers.
HonestGuide, you are the best channel ive ever had the honor to watch. Thank you man.
Thank you.., I probably will never go for a holiday in Prague (financially), but I love your videos which bring scamming in general to the front of everybodies mind. Good Karma to you and your friends for making these.
honestly, the world could use more ppl like you mate
Bravo Yarek , bravo Honza , great job 👊
Keep going!!! Great goal for great purpose!!!
Don’t stop until the scammers are gone!!
Thank you for all your guides! I’m going to Prague today, and your guides and videos has been very useful! Im very excitied for my trip. Thank You. 🙏🏻🇩🇰🇨🇿
Keep up the great work, was a pleasure to bump into you on our trip to Prague a few days ago
As always a great video and full of information. I've been to Prague many times mainly for work and such a gorgeous city. All these videos are a must watch for anyone wanting to go :)
Thanks for trying to stop these creeps!
Hi I'm Colombian and in June I went to Prague to travel and I saw one of these scammer, didn't know who to call so I just told everyone there to not change money from him and then when to my hotel
Well done mate, just discover this channel yesterday and I have seen lots of episodes. 🙏🙏
I was in Warsaw last month and honest guide is very famous there too. I used my credit card for every payment (including one for a toilet visit) but I missed Prague.
Where are you from?
Thank you for your contribution for making Prag a safe and pleasant place to visit.
Great job, Janek! 🔥
Great content 👌
I recently moved to Czech a few years ago, whilst I was in Prague for the first time they tried to scam me, fortunately I knew the currency, so I was lucky.
Keep up the great work 👍
Where are you from?
Thanks!
Gotta be my favorite series, keep it up
Dude i'm not even european but after watching this channel for quite some time now, i srsly want to go to Czech Republic.
Thanks for making Cz a better place.
Like the food recommendations
200 IQ move for turning scammers into tourist attraction
If this keeps up, run for mayor of Prague and tell them that you will be harsh on criminals.
Your slogan would be "Cleaning Prague from crime"
I just came across your videos and it is great to see you really care. I am a researcher in tourism and understand this is one of the most important critical areas that lead some destinations to create a tourism police. It would be great to talk to you one day. All the luck!
One (minor) problem, is that if you do a bit of Googling before you travel, you are always warned about accepting the money exchange rate from the airport or your hotel.
I would rather lose 5% or 10%, rather than deal with some sketchy rando on the street.
Is really anyone changing money in hotel? That's really bizare idea for me.
..And it’s true, better go to bank or even ATM (they are like few hundred meters apart in Prague) and just withdraw the money in local currency if you feel you need some small cash.
Governments need to take stronger stances and more agressive actions against scammers and exploitations they need to lower the limits
Thanks
Have the situation with 2 girls from UK at 9:35 been featured in an episode before? Seems intense and I would love to see all of it.
as a Pole, I would like to apologize to everyone for how they behave and what they do, what a shame... :(
You and me both, brother
And given most of them seem to be from Romania, it's even worse in my case
I've decided that many tourists who complain about getting cheated in some European city actually get perverse excitement from it. For them, it's part of the thrill of the trip.
12:20 I was scammed once when I was a teenager. I bought a Nokia N97 with a display to replace. It looked like the original, but it turned out that the display was 2mm shorter xD and as for money, I simply don't trust people. Sometimes if I'm in a tight spot, sometimes I'll pay more, but I'm aware that it happens and on the other hand I see how easy it is to scam people, not necessarily just tourists.
the only way to ultimately deal with these sorts of "people" is draconian measures
Love your show from Australia, Great heads up on scammers to watch out for if l ever visit your country...
3:29 That is hungarian Forint (HUF). I can't recognize from that snit that it's already expired or not, but compared to CZK, 500 HUF is around 31 CZK.
I love these Series!!
My take is that if a tourist tries to get an advantage thinking that a guy in the street of any city is making him a favor with a favourable change (or any other "deal"), he is either gullible or in deceit... However, you are surely doing a great job t keep the streets of Prague clean, keep it up!
