    WOW! Take me back! That is a CB 350, I had one, neat story, I bought 3 frames and 12 boxes worth of parts from my local junk dealer when I was 16. Brought it all home and started at the beginning, I found the owner of one of the frames and had him sign it over to me, thanks Vernon, I then sorted all the parts and picked all the best and shiniest looking parts and started assembly, I rebuilt the engine right from the bare block up, thanks to a Chilton's manual, using all the USED parts in the boxes. I took my time sanding, priming and painting the orange tank with perfect striping and chrome cap to match the brand new red side covers and it came out perfectly... not a run in it! Just at final assembly my friend Dennis totaled his 400 Yamaha riding it into the woods, glad you're ok Dennis. His parents had bought him a set of glass pack exhaust pipes he hadn't installed yet and I bought them from him as the finishing touch to my home built masterpiece every piece immaculate!... complete with a great big ole sissy bar and parcel carrier..., but that's another story! My parents were sitting up under the shade of the apple tree in our yard when I backed it out of our shed and after double checking the oil and gas I set the choke and hit the switch and it fired right up! I don't know who was more surprised, them or me! that sound is the main thing I remember from that bike this video kinda reminded me of it but the best part... even without the glass packs is the sound this bike makes when you slam the throttle off between shifts... it's like BAAAAAAAA!!!!!! AND ITS BEST DONE FROM THE REDLINE! I drove that bike to work and back every day right to the redline on almost every shift... I don't think I was very popular with the neighbours during that time period! BUT IT TOOK IT! USED PARTS ON THE ENGINE REBUILD! Punished every day! I did have to rebuild the engine one more time after about a year and a half, this time I forgot the oil and it fired up then seized... uh oh... took the camshaft side covers off, squirted on some oil, filled the crankcase, slammed the kick start lever a few times with a good sized mall and it broke free! it ran like a dream until I traded it for a 73 ford ltd...
    Fond memories, one of my favorite things about riding this bike was, although it had roll bars with highway pegs, was resting my feet on the rear passenger pegs as I was cruising along, total comfort! I miss that now, I have a 97 shadow 1100 ace in pearl ivory and black with mustang studded everything and floor boards front and rear which doesn't have the right positioning for me to do that, but I love my (new) one it has a beautiful sound (stock exhaust) and the torque and feel it has on the curves is magic! Love the Hondas, first one was a CT70 when I was 9, got an ST90 when I grew out of the 70, only one I ever had trouble with, the transmission seized after 3500 miles??? engine still ran tho…automatic. After the 350... 14 years later I bought a V65 Magna...Another awesome bike, had a 4 in 1 header that sounded like crap at idle but boys when you rolled into that baby you'd better be holdin' the f*** on! I sold it once I realized it couldn't carry the wife and the baby AND the groceries!
    Only other vehicle of note was my '71 'cuda I had just before college, banana yellow with a 318 2 barrel, black interior with a D shifter automatic, paid $500 for it and paid a guy $75 to inspect it sight unseen! Those were the days! The thing I remember about it was how loose the steering wheel was... you could spin it and stand on it and she would hang herself right out sideways.... NICE CAR!
    Got a knack for pickin' them I guess, most of these are classic collectibles now, wish I still had that 'Cuda!
    57 years old now and after buying the Shadow 24 years after the V65 I'm brushing up on my skills by watching www.mcrider.com and waiting patiently for spring!
    Thanks for the glimpse of the 350, I guess nostalgia makes me a little long winded!
    Ask me about the sissy bar incident some time!
    Loving the feeling on two wheels!
    Take Care!

    Just a recommendation, so take it with a grain of salt, but like if ur gonna spend 2k on a bike restoring it, and it’s spotless, but cheaped out on getting a seat latch, then the person buying it will wonder what else have you cheaped out on. Just a recommendation

      yeah, I noticed that right off. I bought a low miles 72Cl350 in 1973. Mine was a deep red metallic. 5 of us in the military squadron had them. They were green, gold and blue. We were stationed on the Maine coast and it was a great bike on the narrow paved roads. The CL redlined at 10500 RPM and the CB was lower than that. I sold mine to someone that lived in Colchester, Ct in the late 1970s when I moved north.

    Damn you Kaplan! Once again I caught my wife watching your videos because of you, not the bike. Cut the hair and cover up the big guns or I'll block her! I love the bike though.

    That’s a clean bike but it must be an early 71 model because the 72 should have a disc brake

      @jrhurst3475 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      73 has the disc brake upgrade. At least regarding the cb 350

    Its not the original exhaust. The original was a double stacked dual exhaust that both pipes were on the left side. This was my first bike and I loved it.

    • @Jasonw7018
      @Jasonw7018 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I stand corrected... its not a scrambler. The scrambler had the exhaust on the left.
