I went for the attention star personally got my drilled yesterday and it’s been great even out of the box! I shot 190s on the birthday special lane lol. Which for me? Is pretty good actually.
Lightning blackout underrated is crazy. No house bowler will pay $200+ for a glorified Hustle or Hyroad pearl. Its highly overrated and if not for a free ball raffle, I wouldn't even have a Lightning in my bag
It's the best until the next ball. Attention Star was The Best and not even a month later, not even in the Top 3. This what makes bowling so so SO expensive. All the hype to buy each ball coming out to only a few months later, not to thrilled with a ball. And since "Joe Bowler" doesn't get free balls to peddle, its close to impossible to know what ball works for each bowler.
Who is Scotty Thompson and why does he comment on nearly every bowling video? I want to think engagement bot because of the way it's all a bunch of keywords, but he's on multiple channels across multiple brands. Any decent bot would probably also deviate from the "cool video talk tech bowling" line that is in EVERY comment.
@LuisNapoles so don't add the ion? I have had good luck with the 900 Global paired with the IQ Tour. Also, I have the Clone and a few other older Zen original bowling balls and the Hy-Road Pearl. What do you think I could change?
That's a good list. I had my Ion now 2 weeks and I love it! My #2 would be the Attention Star, #3 is The Road. I use CTD products and they have a soak called "Jack'd" that will bring that Attention Star back to original strength. 1500, polish, then soak it for an hour... thank me later!
Optimum is actually really good for me on house. But it is really old wood and blends it well. Almost shot my first 300 Wednesday. But missed inside on the 11th shot.
Thanks Louis Napples 😊. As far as SPI is concerned these are the best so far this year. The Optimum Idol, Ion Pro, Lightning Blackout can easily be a great 3 ball bag... I would add the Harsh Reality, DNA Coil, and Hustle Xray for a 6 ball tournament arsenal.
Love your choice for top 3 except for the ion pro. I can’t really say what I feel the number one ball should be for 2024 but for me I love my storm summit peak. It has complimented my game immensely and with the work I put into syncing with it has revitalized my ability to play straight down and in. The ion pro has that hybrid coverstock (I think) and like before I have always struggled to throw hybrid bowling balls. They were always too unpredictable for me.
Not being mean at all, but can't really dispute a guy who has thrown all of these balls with a very good sample size when you haven't even thrown all of them lol.

Do have an off topic question for u (or for whoever reads this): all my balls are 14 lbs...I want to get a custom spare ball, but it's 15 lbs. Will that one pound make a huge difference, even tho its only a spare ball? Pls let me know.
Woulda gone Attention Star, Optimal Idol, and Ion Pro. Haven’t thrown ion but from wat i seen it looks like at least top 3. Attention u see everywhere. Haven’t really seen too many Lightning Blackouts at all.
I agree . I got the effect in 13lb down from my normal 15lb. After doing some homework, it hits like a freight train. In all honesty I’ve had so much more success with hammer than any other brand
My DH lab ball spinner leaves metallic lines all over my bowling balls. It’s unfortunate because they are super convenient to use. I have cleaned the bearings after each use also so it’s not because they are dirty.
With exception of the Ion Pro, I agree with your list. I would put the Absolute Power ahead of the Ion Pro. I know Storm is marketing the Ion Pro as the benchmark ball and I may get it at some point but I just don't see it as 'I have to have it now' ball.

I hated the Attention Star oob. Too much over/under for me. I hit it very lightly with a used 1k pad and it has brought it to life. Very predictable and does all the right things.

I had an old Hammer first blood , which was a good ball, but I started bowling consistently this past few months and that ball was giving me hell on the lanes 😂, so I went to a highly recommended pro shop and got myself an X-cell and had it drilled correctly, seems for the way I bowl the old Hammer wasn’t drilled properly. So since I got the X-Cell set at 60x4.5x30 I have been bowling in the 200’s again I am loving this ball it works great with my high speed bowling, and I find it to be pretty versatile on the lanes. For my second ball I am thinking possibly a Dv8 hater , or a Track Archetype Hybrid or maybe both . Could you do a review on those bowling balls that would be great . I like your reviews it is one of the reasons I got the x-cell .
You are an incredible bowler, but a demo on semi-burnt lanes doesn't really show what these balls can do on a fresh house shot - i'm pretty sure i could hit your lanes with my Radical Conspiracy Pearl (a 3 or 4 year old ball...)& my "old man's" 200-ish avg. game

My question is how the ION Pro compares to it for the stand left-heave right shot. From your video, it kind of looks like the ION Pro is pretty comparable for doing that shot, but hard to tell. Put another way, if I get an ION Pro do I still need to get a Lightning Blackout?
Why not just hit the idol with some surface for house shots. I know it comes with 2000 from the factory. I have been using a 3D offset sometimes, and have it currently at 500. I needed something smooth on Monday night for league, and there was oil. I played around with some other stuff for the first two games and was really frustrated. Took the 3D out in the third and went to 257. All strikes to start, with 2 ten pins that I made. In the 10th I struck twice and then left a ten pin in the third shot. But the ball was smooth and controllable.
Luis, man your approach looks so much better, and smoother. Your arm swing is more compact and tight to your body. Your swing is parallel to your body compared to what remember. Good job.
I'll match either one those balls with a motiv ball. The thrill peral is better than the black out. The venom exj will punish that ion pro. And i will put the hyper venom againt that optimum idol!
I would have gone Attention Star over the Lightning Blackout but the Lightning Blackout is very underrated.

When they do a review, the ball is the best ever, going in their bag, the new benchmark ball , ec. Then a new one comes out.
but the thing to remember is that you dont NEED every single new ball! I do because its my job !

ups can def have both in the bag. They will be used at two different times from different zones
