Julian was born with ICP. Infantile cerebral palsy (also known as cerebral palsy, ICP, CP) describes a lifelong early childhood brain injury 🧠 ⚡ that can lead to disorders of posture, movement, coordination and balance. ICP can also result in scoliosis.
Julian proudly presents his personal "turtle shell" 🐢 - his daily corset. He has to wear this due to his neurogenic scoliosis.
Together with his mom Tina, Julian gives us an insight into his everyday life with the corset. 👨‍🦽 He tells us how long he has to wear his corset every day, what benefits it offers him and why he is so incredibly proud of himself.

*How can you recognize scoliosis?
Scoliosis can be accompanied by both visible and invisible symptoms that are not obvious at first glance. Visible signs of scoliosis include a difference in the height of the shoulders, a crooked head posture, a protruding shoulder blade or a sloping back. In severe forms of scoliosis, the pelvis is also crooked (pelvic obliquity).
The so-called rib hump is also a common symptom of severe scoliosis. This hump, which is caused by a curvature of the rib cage, is located on the side of the back towards which the spine curves. As a rule, the rib hump occurs from a Cobb angle (= degree of curvature) of approx. 40 degrees.
Because scoliosis causes a displacement of the spinal muscles, it can also be recognized by muscle bulges in the cervical or lumbar vertebrae. Lumbar bulges become clearly visible from a Cobb angle of around 60 degrees.

Tolle Mutter aber sie sollte einen Kurs bei der Krankenkasse belegen zwecks Rückenschonendes Arbeiten ( RüPT) sonst braucht Sie noch ein Korsett. Ihr Einsatz ist bewundernswert. Danke für die kurzen Einblicke. Daumen Hoch.
