man i dont know why some people mostly kids and teens my age find it boring this has so much passion and drama in it. I'm 14 and glad i discovered how amazing classical music is.
lol, I was just like you at that age! My friends came over to my house an played this for me after I has surgery my Jr year in high school and I've been in love with it ever since.
In 5th grade, my grade went to see a symphony. One kid after the concert said he fell asleep and he and all his friends laughed about it. I was so mad at him.
Love the efficiency of his technique, particularly of his left hand (great right hand of course as well), and how he was still in such a good shape at that age. RIP, grandmaster!
Well done. A great virtuoso piece rarely composed for violin and cello duet, and very rarely performed with this artistry and two musicians having a great time performing together! Brave, and a well spent life with such gifts given to those of us who appreciate such mastery. RIP
Yeah! Harrell's spiccato sounds incredible. I don't think his bow actually leaves the string! - at least I don't see it leave and the tones sound so crisp.
i play both the cello and violin and i aspire to be this good one day :) other people my age cant appreciate the beauty in classical music and its upsetting because its absolutely amazing
Study with positive personalities! Kind and excellent players, even if not always the best at verbalizing, will take you where you’d like to go! Remember to get your cello strings replaced at least every six months ( every month for Pro’s !) and put them on at your luthier’s shop so that post and bridge can be properly positioned in response to the new strings! I favor Jargar Forte A&D, but use Prim G and Thomastik or other tungsten string for the C. Make sure that a Professional, high-level player helps you select the RIGHT BOW because everything else fails to matter if that bow won’t “get married” to that cello. Working too hard with poor equipment can cause year-long arm and hand injuries!!! Heed these instructions so that you can play with beauty, and not with pain!
one of the best performances, congratulations. Es una delas mejores interpretaciones que escuché y vi. Felicitaciones. Las demás interpretaciones no están completas y esta si.
This is amazing. I wish I could play like this but I am not a violin play but a viola player. Even then I just started recently in High School. I'd like to afford a private teacher. Though we can't afford it even if we did my parents do not care for my interest in music
I FEEL U!!!!! But with cello. I had a teacher but he juss taught me the basics of how to hold the bow and stuff. After a few classes I never really learned anything. We would just go and waste money and time I want to be classically trained and I've found some teachers but my dad says its to expensive. We can afford it but he just doesnt care. He is more into bands and im passionate about classical music. Since its not his interest he doesnt want me to learn :'(
leslie ramirez Just my two cents (5 year violinist and 4 month cellist here) It's good to explore different genres of music. Both you and your father should try to reach out and extend out of your own and into each others comfort zones. I'm a guitarist of almost two years, and I can say, ever having played over three years of violin and piano beforehand, playing rock and pop music (as well as some classical) has been literally the funnest part of my days as of late. Also, trying new genres and at least listening to if not playing the music that comes from them can greatly improve your own technique and composition skills, even when it comes to classical playing, and of course it just improves your musicianship as a whole. Example of a guy who has listened to practically every song in the world: Tommy Emmanuel (Probably the most talented musician out there)
Towards the end of the song he tuned his cello while playing. You could see him reach back to his peg and they were non stop, so I wonder how he did it. I mean, what if the peg had slipped?
He has no finetuners, so he must be using the pegs all the time, which probably makes him trust them. Also that could be the reason why the d-string got out of tune in the first place. You can also see him correcting the open d-g cord at 6:35 when he slides down with the first finger form the e. He also pizzes the open d with the left hand at 6:40 to confirm it is out of tune after which he again corrects the open d in d-g cords with the first finger before tuning it finaly with the peg.
Tired of violinists (and pianists) making cellists look clumsy - even the greats like Lynn Harrell. Only the likes of Janos Starker and Emanuel Feuermann sound as refined as Heifets in Brahms Double...especially the fast notes. Really enjoyed the violinist though...quite a musician!

Yes, having massive hands helps with cello technique. ;)
6:44 i just like how he just tunes
The balls.... And no hesitation. Such a Chad.
Listening to this while high, the music literally creates stories in my head and you can feel the music so much more. wow.
Harrell’s technique is incredible 😲

The combination of these two instruments has always fascinated me. This due is utterly fantastic!

Watching Lynn's bow arm still leaves me in awe every time.

Rest in peace old man. Will never forget your contributions.
I aspire to be like that cellist he looked so relaxed and as if this piece was a cake walk lovely job
Have always loved the combination of these two instruments.
Len Pasek same!

Mind. Blown. One of the best performances I've seen. Phrasing, communication, PASSION! Bravo!
RIP John Harrel! You were a great cellist ❤
Wow the tremolo repeats really got me. Great job!
Well done, Danielle!
I still remember your stellar coaching at GCCMF! All the best!
Wow! Fantastic. It's amazing how something written so long ago can feel so present and stirring in the right hands. Incredible performance.
Gorgeous , looking for more qualified duet : violin and cello . Thanks for the upload
Gorgeous composition and so passionately executed. This was utterly fantastic!

It was actually late in the song, but yeah, this is the first I've seen of it too! And I'm a cellist myself.
Tuning mid song? This may be the first time I've seen that. :-)

+leslie ramirez So go get a job and pay for your classes, like i did ;)
Maravilloso tema.
genios!!👏
*HERMOSO*
Lynn Harrell is one of the gretaest cello player even today. Only to compare with Piatigorsky, Starker and Rostropovich.

BRAVO! Sounds Amazing!
味のある演奏、好きです。
Perfeito, parabéns!
Hasta el ultimo se queria desafinar el violonchelo peroel señor se las ingenio, muy bueno. Apenas practico esta pieza.
Wooooooooooooow! Bravi!
6:18 What was that?
Dang !!!!!
Lindo :´)
bravi!! :D
I miss Lynn.

Probably this video wouldn't be on TH-cam if it had gone that wonky. As it was, I involuntarily let out a "WTF!?!" when I saw that.

How is Halvorsen related to this music?
Not so long ago: Halvorsen 1864-1935 !
anyone else notice him tuning mid chord?
Michael Caine?
It wasn't THAT long ago.
what instrument does Lynn play on?
is this the montagnana?
This looks like his Chris Dungey cello
Cello is not an instrument. It is a way of living.
チェロのおじいちゃん、めちゃくちゃ上手いと思たらあのリン・ハレルやったんか。
JESUS IS LORD
Dinleyen türkün olmaması çok kötü beğeninde türk varmış diyeyim
Ben de varım. Aşk olsun.

I honestly don't like this cello variant, I think it should be more legato, to bring out the true beauty of the music.
Lol at 6:18
