This channel is destined to become one of the great film commentary channels, I just know it. Your appreciation for film is obvious and I love your choice of music. I hope more people come across your videos and discover movies they otherwise wouldn’t hear of. Until then, I will just enjoy this beautiful corner of the internet you’ve created ❤️
Its channels like this that being back the passion and zeal I used to have about cinema (and was able to express) that I lost along the way. Thank you for bringing that feeling back. Amazing video

Bro This is Maddy from India, the way you made this video, the background music and scenes u have chosen for every film after the final edit is just hypnotic. I am so motivated to watch these films in upcoming weeks, Thanks!!
As always a great video and one of my favourite top 10s of 2024 so far. I'm not committing to this as there is alot of stuff I still want to see in the last few weeks of the year but I think my top 10 of 2024 is (keep in mind that this is by the UK release date: 1 - All of Us Strangers. 2 - The Iron Claw. 3 - Civil War. 4 - Dune: Part Two. 5 - The Substance. 6 - Challengers. 7 - Memory. 8 - A Different Man. 9 - The Delinquents. 10 - Conclave.
I think 'Bird' might be my film of the year (even though i'm about done with Keoghan), close with 'la bete', Léa Seydoux is one of the most underrated actesses of this generation, she can do anything, 'le deuxième acte' for example. Also Aggro Drift. 'Evil does not exist' was beautiful in its intensity and calmness in the adversity of blunt evil. Loved 'I saw the tv glow', loved 'challengers', 'Anora' was good fun and still deeply heartfelt, Mikey Madiso steals every shot and scene.Really looking forward to seeing 'the brutalist' and till have to see 'Janet planet'. Thanks for reminding me about 'la chimera' and turning me towards Zhangke, new for me. Bas Devos' made an absolutely stunning movie and i'm happy to hear you praise a fellow Belgian and colleague at the art school where i work. I saw 'Toxic' by Saulė Bliuvaitė at our local filmfestival, which also ranks pretty high for me this year. Nerding out, sorry, not sorry, that's what the joy of movies is. Thank you.
Thank YOU for watching! Glad to find someone else who has Bird high up on their list…seems to have been flying under way too many people’s radar. And so cool that Bas Devos is a colleague of yours, he is a brilliant artist! I cannot wait to watch Toxic, heard great things about it out of Locarno (I believe?) and it seems right up my alley.
I loved Furiosa, surprisingly too since I wasn't that crazy about its trailers. I think the best description I've heard of it describes it as a kind of biblical epic, which feels rather fitting.
Thank you! I was a bit hesitant to put Tides on the list, as I wasn’t exactly sure if it qualified as a 2024 release, but I placed it in there anyways. Just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to spread the Jia Zhangke gospel!
A beautiful and brilliant video essay and summary of the year. I haven't yet seem many of these. Sadly, Anora has been my biggest disappointment of the year; maybe it is unreasonable to expect something as great as Baker's previous three. I can't wait to see Bird, The Beast, The Brutalist and All We Imagine As Light 👍
Bummer Anora didn’t work for you, but I do agree with you in that the Tangerine-Florida Project-Red Rocket run is a special one. It’s really just so great to see him finally get all this mainstream acclaim after years of making tremendous films.

Great video d,ude. I dont agree with all the choices ,but you give great reasons a,nd I can see a certain kind of film speaks to you w,hich is dope as hell. New sub!
I look forward to seeing "Here," the film mentioned here. I saw "Here," the RoObert Zemekis film, and it was a one-trick pony that had me grinding my teeth.
I saw most of these at the New York Film festival. I agree with most of your assessment except for Anora which I found predictable and over the top. Great job on doing such great work. I appreciate your thoughtfulness in utilizing and correlating their themes to our world’s contemporary problems.
Wow... 2014 is my favorite year of movies with films like Whiplash, Birdman, Nightcrawler, Days of Future Past, Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy, John Wick and Planet of the Apes. Now we have movies that are boring. Furiosa was a prequel and not a sequel. I don't care about her past. Challengers and Queer sounds like someones autobiography. I don’t think these people realize how boring their lives are. We need more movies that inspire imagination and not someone's person therapy session. These writers need to go outside and get a life. They're writing boring shite. These movies are a boring waste of time.

Thank you so, so much for such kind words. Truly means the world :)
I especially like the use of Hania Rani's music.

Great list and Excellent video. Have you seen Zia Anger's "My First Film"? That was my personal favorite film of this year.
I have not. Will add that to the list of things to catch-up on. Thanks for the rec!
Okay so I'm a minute into your video and you mentioned trap as one of your honorable mentions 😂😂😂😂😂
As always a great video and one of my favourite top 10s of 2024 so far.

10 - Conclave.
Thank you! Really dig that list, very eclectic mix of films - especially love to see something like The Delinquents on there, such an overlooked film.
Your videos are important to me. Thank you
Wow, I am so incredibly moved to hear that. Thank you for giving your time to and engaging with my many unintelligible ramblings ❤️
Sadly a lot of these movies didn't play in many theaters.

Love your videos man
Thank you!

All the promotional material didn’t do it justice whatsoever. But can’t believe I ever doubted the maestro George Miller
this is such an incredible list!, so glad that u put caught by the tides

I absolutely love your commentary
Much appreciated!
that was nice, thank you
Nice use of Hania Rani for the background music.
‘Glass’ is a divine piece of music. She’s the absolute best.
I appreciate it if you write the names of the films on the screen when you talk about them ❤ thank you for the video
Great video. I'm in 👍
It's so refreshing seeing a top 10 out of the ordinary. One that leaves out embarrasing films louded as great as Emilia Pérez is IMO.
This was refreshing. Subbed. Btw can you tell me whats the piano track playing in the background?
thats "Glass" by Hania Rani
Still gotta watch half of these, but so far Dune 2 has been my favorite this year!!!

I saw most of these at the New York Film festival. I agree with most of your assessment except for Anora which I found predictable and over the top.
Great job on doing such great work.
I appreciate your thoughtfulness in utilizing and correlating their themes to our world’s contemporary problems.
