Biggest shock is how Japanese construction companies take better car of their trucks than some car sportcar enthusiasts.

This type of truck is pretty common in New Zealand and Australia, we call it crew cab. Quite handy driving around in the town. Quite pain in the butt long distance drive.

I am considering buying one here in the USA 🇺🇸 but I have tried to find out what other cars it shares the parts with, for example suspension, the engine I know is the same as the Hilux?

Many have different size beds. The one in this video is 5x7. Very large. My Hiace has a smaller bed. Similar to what you see on a FJ40.

Hard to say, the dyna started in 1959 and the porter in 1977, but this style of the dyna didn’t start until 1977.
So with that both started this body style in the same year (1977).

This type of truck is also very popular in South Korea and can be found literally everywhere!
They are more popular here than on Japanese roads because they are cheaper to maintain and useful for a variety of tasks.
We drive these trucks for our driving school tests, and almost every construction worker or farmer has one.
The dropside bed makes it easy to load and unload cargo, and it is practical and agile, making it a great truck for use in crowded cities.
    4WD + Diesel + 5-speed manual + 1 ton (2200 lbs) payload + 6 passenger seats + ultimate durability = what more do you need? 👍
Although these JDM trucks are fun to drive, they have many drawbacks. Since there are no airbags or crumple zones, occupants are prone to leg injuries in the event of an accident, become easily fatigued when driving long distances, and because the engine is located under the seat, it easily gets hot in the summer.
If you prefer the big, powerful, and comfortable American pickups of today, these Japanese pickups are likely not for you. This is a commercial vehicle for work, not a family car.

Are you serious? SK Trucks are the ULTIMATE DURABILLITY? So why are there no 20-40 year old SK trucks running in developing countries?
JP trucks differ greatly from SK trucks in their design philosophy. Everything from the precision and strength of the parts used, to the design of the frame, to the rank of the bearings, is different.
JP trucks can easily be used for more than 1 million miles even with poor quality fuel from developing countries, they do not break even when loaded with more than three times the maximum specified by the manufacturer, and even if they do break, they are very easy to repair.
There are different leagues to compare, I hope you don't get mad at me for asking.

@@garyu3001 no. I think you misinterpreted my comment a bit. I'm not saying that South Korean trucks have the best durability, I'm talking about this ''type'' of Japanese cabover trucks. It is true that South Korean trucks are inferior in durability and safety to Japanese trucks. However, before the 1990s, many trucks were produced in collaboration with Mitsubishi and Mazda, and even though the details and quality of South Korean trucks in the past were different, the basic design was done in Japan. (MMC Delica, Canter, Fighter, The Great, / Mazda Bongo, Titan,) In the second paragraph, I commented solely for American viewers. Because Americans may find these cabover trucks unfamiliar. I was surprised you seemed angry. I'm sorry if my comment offended you.

Not rare at all in the rest of the world there are millions of such trucks running around. Rare in the USA due to 25% Chicken Tax and the fact that Ford, which builds similar trucks in other parts of the world, makes more money manufacturing F150's and really does want Americans to have a truck truck.

  • @crxdelsolsir

It seems like the only version of these type of trucks Americans like are 4wd.
What is the fixation on 4wd like they are going to need every day or die?
Bragging rights or real hard core driving?
Whatever the case it just seems like the buyers of these trucks are not genuine, long term and will likely not give them the same respect as they had received in the last 25 years. Hardly anything in the West that is 25 years old looks like these cars coming from Japan due to just poor consumer mindset.
