I was at the 2nd show in Amsterdam, I couldnt believe my ears when I heard Covered In Rain, Wild Blue and the snippet of Good Love Is On The Way! Also seeing and hearing the Black1 was really special! I couldnt have wished for a better set for my first Mayer concert!
Went to both London nights and I was blown away. 'I will be Found' was emotional . I've got Glasgow next week where I think he'll do the more famous songs unless the Scots surprise me with deep cuts signs. Wish I'd been at the Amsterdam shows. 'Covered in Rain' sounded amazing. His voice is way better than I've heard it in a long time and the guitar skill is out of this world. Special doesn't cover it. He is simply extraordinary. So grateful he came to Europe and UK.
Was in Amsterdam for the Night1 and Night2. Before in Copenhagen and after it also in Paris. Saw him in Brazil in 2013 and both nights in London in 2019. Amsterdam was by far the best concert I have seen in my life. Both nights completing each other. Amazing performance! ❤
I was originally only planning to goto Night 1 in London but show was so good, I bought tickets for Night 2 as soon as Night 1 ended. In hindsight, Im glad I went both nights. I got to listen to the outro for In your Atmosphere as well as finally getting to see the BLK1 live ! Legendary shows !
I was in Amsterdam on March 21, 2024. My first concert. 9th row in sector A ... right in front of the stage. It was so so so awesome. Lots of greetings to you. I will subscribe to your channel again.
I've been loving the setlists in the EU, they've been amazing! Watching 'I Will Be Found' gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes, it was truly beautiful. Thank you for addressing the audience, at first I was a bit confused as I'm so used to the American audience. The atmosphere in the EU is so refreshing. It's exciting to think that songs like 'Covered in Rain', 'Vultures' and 'Assassin' could become the norm like ‘In Your Atmosphere'. As for the guitars, it's all part of the journey. My personal favorite is the Monterey Strat, but I lost my mind last year when he brought out the double-neck. Tour season is always an adventure. Mayer is leaving everything on stage night after night! You can't ask for more.
Loved the Amsterdam setlists! So many gems and I wept seeing videos of "I Will Be Found (Lost At Sea)" and "War of My Life" being played. The latter is a life saver! I've had friends go to London and Amsterdam and, despite my FOMO, I was thrilled for them. I hope he brings the solo tour to Asia. Oh, and about your question: as a non-musician, while I don't nerd out on gear, it's exciting to catch a glimpse of a special guitar like the BLK1. It's part of Mayer history!
I was there for London night 2 & I Will Be Found (Lost at Sea) was definitely a highlight - probably the most beautifully performed song of the night. It was a sign request from a girl sat next to me on the front row!
I’ve wanted to see Mayer live for a long time but I don’t think he’s ever come to Spain so I went to London for the 1st concert, pretty happy overall. Now I want to see the full band !
I also want to see the full band. Was my 1st concert in Amsterdam on March 21. I guess he will come to Europe with the full band agsin in 2 years. Keep fingers crossed ... I will be there, for sure!
I was at both shows in Amsterdam, absolutely magnificent. Covered in Rain, Assasin (my friend requested that song!), and then the BLK1, which I requested.. My god
This tour highlighted the wide spectrum he covers as the artist he is and the fact that his whole discography works well and feels new in 2024. I discovered Tracing and couldn't stop listening to it for weeks.
I have wanted to visit the Netherlands for a while, and had been dreaming of flying there for these shows. I so wish I had been able to, those are two of the best setlists I’ve ever seen. I do think it’s interesting that he hasn’t played much of If I Ever Get Around to Living, which I think is one of his best songs to play on the double neck.
I was at the acoustic show in Los Angeles and thought that would be it. However I happened to be in London the week of this show, so got tix for night 2. It was certainly louder in LA and he was more talkative, I think because of the crowd. Musically, the London show really stepped it up. Fantastic!
Hi! First time watcher here. Thanks for this video! I’ve been to both shows in Amsterdam. They were magical from my pov. But after uploading the video I took of Covered in Rain I got this very angry(?) message from a lady who travelled from the US to see the shows in Amsterdam. She was very disappointed in the audience. And she felt sorry for John because she thought the people lacked enthusiasm. And it made me question the whole vibe. John hasn’t dedicated an IG post to the two shows in Amsterdam. I like to believe John felt the love and respect from the crowd and felt comfortable enough to play some of the songs he rarely does. I met alot of people the nights I was there and they were all thrilled to be there and in awe of the show. So it would kind of sad if that didn’t translate to the artist. Thanks for ghis video, I subscribed and will be following your journey. ❤
Nah, I think he understands. He’s been all over the world and knows the different audience dynamics. There’s positives and negatives to all styles! Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts. Glad to have you on the channel!
@@aaronoldenburger3436 I dont even know why she was thinking like that. I felt like I had been in my own bubble maybe to not have noticed. The shows were incredible, to me. Glad you feel the same way.
Hey Tom! Totally agree with you about Belief being right up there with Neon and Edge of Desire in terms of level of difficulty in singing and playing at the same time. I front a John Mayer tribute band and have played all of these live on multiple occasions. Belief is actually THE hardest in my opinion. Although the guitar part on its own is not as challenging when compared to the other two songs, the vocal melody and guitar riff are both so specific on a rhythmic level that I find executing both together properly to be daunting. Loving the content on this channel btw!
I had the feeling that Amsterdam was his most favourite place to play ... judged by what he said to the audience ... so I don't think that anything huge will happen at the end of the tour. I was at the 1st Amsterdam concert.
Came off from the Dublin stop. He sang the songs he felt like playing. Here are some of the hits he left out. A reverse setlist if you may: Gravity Heartbreak Warfare No Such Thing Daughters Clarity Bigger Than My Body Love Song For No One My Stupid Mouth Back To You Waiting On The World To Change New Light Shadow Days Dreaming With A Broken Heart Something Like Olivia Friends, Lovers or Nothing Perfectly Lonely I'm Gonna Find Another You Bold as Love
So I've been inspired by the Amsterdam shows and trying to collect a bunch of footage in order to make a concert compilation. A couple intesresting things of note from what John has said, he mentions at one point that Amsterdam was one of the first cities to listen to his music when apparantly the rest of Europe took a while to catch on, so he seemed to have more energy and was playing lots of deep cuts as a thank you for that. However after doing so many deep cuts he said he was too deep, and had to play a "big one" which is when he pulled out Slow Dancing mid show, so I don't think that was originally planned on his set list. It seems he took quite a lot of requests on the fly during the show. I still have only been collecting clips and haven't watched it all through yet, I'm excited to get into it, what I've heard so far has been the most inspiring that I've heard from any of the Solo tour.
Great recap, Tom! These shows are truly something special. I am NOT a musician or guitar player by any means, but I was absolutely THRILLED to see BLK1 make an appearance at these shows. That guitar holds so much history and encapsulates earlier Mayer eras. It reminds me of “Where the Light Is” and the JM Trio. That guitar has seen (and played!) so much! Really hoping he continues to play it! I also prefer the tone of the BLK1 over the PRS.
I think the best Belief acoustic version (and my favorite version in general) is the WTLI dvd extra version. (go look it up, i think it's still up on youtube)
I was at the 1st show in London O2 and can confirm that daughters was a yelling medley request he was trying to show how he can’t play medleys as we want to hear his songs in full and I can’t say he’s wrong😂
These are great! Love watching these. I have a gear question for you... John played If I Ever Get Around to Living at the Tele2 Arena in Sweden, he opened the song with some improv while playing over a note that sustained for the entirety of his improvised opening. Any idea how he accomplised that? It looks it was activated by some pedal that sustained the note from the opening chord he played on the 12 string. It was really cool and added a great opening atmosphere to the song! Separately, on a US tour version of the same song I've seen him step on something at outro of the song to round out the C chord he plays to end the song and it sounded like a full band ending on a C... maybe some added bass from a bass pedal? Only saw him do it once but it was awesome. Check out the video from Sweden to see what I mean :) th-cam.com/video/uOmhc6H-oWw/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=JohanAndr%C3%A9n
I’m not sure, but I think it’s some combo of the TC Electronics Infinite Sustainer and Strymon Cloudburst for this intro. He’s got a bass/organ pedal up there for the seated position that he uses regularly for “Edge of Desire,” but it’s possible he’s used it for “If I Ever Get Around” too!

Extraordinary is very accurate. Couldn’t agree more. “I Will Be Found” will go down as a signature moment in his career.
I was there both nights too. It was awesome. And I agree about I will be found. That was really special.
