Yup, it make much much higher sense in the original language. It's sufi song as you know. Like when he said "chali hen meri aahen" this word is so strong "aahen" but translating into English to "sigh" is like losing its entire proper fitting meaning and importance.

Two things that make this song beautiful is the profound meaning in the lyrics. It echoes so much with Upanishadic teachings. There is a sentiment "there was neither Being nor non-Being" that is expressed in this song and the exact same sentence is seen in the Nasadiya Suktam of the Rig Veda. Another composition Fun Kaya Fun made popular by A R Rahman in the film Rockstar also references this same declaration.
The second factor is the expression on Abida Parveen's face - she is clearly connected to something beyond this world when she sings. That just lifts the whole rendition to an altogether divine level.

Atif Aslam is a better singer than Arijit....not trying to take anything away from Arijit, he’s indeed a great singer too no doubt. If it were not for the ban on them, Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali would be ruling the Bwood charts. Our Indian singers and musicians are great but the Pakistanis have a bit of an edge over us.
