Man... you should have bought that Lew's Speed Spool SLP! $179 minus whatever discount they were giving! I think you would have loved it! ...PLEASE follow up on what Shimano does or does not do for you with that rod. I had a KUNNAN BORON rod that I bought when that material first came out. Boron ended up being pretty easily broken so they quit using it. It was really sensitive. My rod broke on the hookset, but I think it might have had "a little" something to do with the tree limb I hit on the up sweep. Kunnan replaced the rod, no problem. If I remember right, it was about a week old. I still use the replacement rod. (I DID NOT replace it with another Boron rod.). Instead I got a second 6' 6" Medium Heavy Kunnan Graphite Classic 96. Purchased it in 1984-85. I LOVE THEM! Use one for moving baits and one for Texas rigs. Also still using my Ambassadeur Lite Plus Reel (Texas rigs) and my Ambassadeur Black Max Ultra Cast (Moving baits) on those two rods. Also purchased in 1984/85. I do have a new Lew's Speed Spool LFS on a Lew's TP Black Speed Stick. (Frogging and Top Water MOSTLY so far). Complete pleasure to fish and WAY lighter that the two Kunnan rigs, as you might imagine. Go technology and progress! ...Your sprinkler episode reminded me of the time I was fishing in my backyard pond and someone almost pushed me into the pond from behind by hitting me in the shoulders. My heart skipped a few beats when I was hit, and a few more beats when I instinctively whipped around and NO ONE was there! It turned out that the cat that hung around the house had followed me out to the pond in hopes that I would feed it some fish. It had silently jumped up and hit me square in the shoulders. About three or four seconds after I spun around, it jumped off my back to the ground. I was so scared and upset with the cat that I picked it up and threw it about 20 feet into the pond. I can still see that poor scared little critter soaked to the bone! I did catch a couple brim to feed it ad apologized to the cat for cussing it out and losing my cool... but it did scare me to death. Can you imagine being very forcefully pushed from behind by someone you didn't hear come up behind you (scare #1) then turning around and NO ONE WAS THERE! (ultra scare #2). Honestly.. the most scared I've ever been in my life for about 5 seconds.

That's crazy, my buddy just had that shimano set up. The rod snapped 1/4 of the way down after 10 casts. He called shimano, they are on backorder til June

The SLX lineup is far above its price point, i use the gen 1 SLX medium Xfast spinning rod for dropshot and the 7'2 MH Xfast for lighter jigs and texas rigs. The sensitivity is unmatched by any other rod in that price range.
One of the smart oens liek me that goes for left hand... because switching hands mid-cast makes absolutely no sense!
I have a Shimano SLX same exact rod with the 150HG DC reel. I absolutely love the setup..

I have found a lot of rods throughout the years thrown in trees and bushes with broken tips.
I just put a new tip on it and reuse it for carp fishing.
Last year I found a broken bait casting rod with a really nice spinning reel, like fifty pounds braided line, and a giant musky spinner thrown in a tree right in plain view along a bike path. I left it in the tree for the weekend and snagged it Monday morning. A nice $150 Bass Pro Shops reel I gave to my dad for river fishing.

Yo you are about to put together my favorite combo. I have the SLX 150 XT and it is NICE!! I have the 7.2 med xfast. It is one of the most sensitive rods. I have had mine for about year and it has held up to my bank fishing abuse!! You need to find it!!
I actually have the slx 7'0 medium heavy fast action spinning pole and it's amazing. The feeling of the rod is just out standing. Unfortunately I broke the tip as well on my bday last year. But I've caught some massive fish using the rod. From carp to largemouth bass. The Shamano slx is hands down one of my favorite rods to use

Good catch April! I used to take my mom fishing on Fort Riley in Kansas before she passed on. It was at Beck's Pond that she csught a bullfrog and a turtle. I told her the concept to is catch fish. She knew that I was messing with her.

Ive got that exact same SLX rod. Same size and everything. Absolutely love it and an absolute steal at $60. Great for throwing chatterbaits. I hope shimano fixes that for you, sucks that it broke before you got to use it.
I have a Shimano SLX rod it’s a 7 foot Medium, fast action. Got a paired up with a Shimano SLX MGL 70 low profile reel. It one of my go to combos.

One of the spots he fished was right by my hotel I caught 1 bass but when I go down there it is not a good time to fish because all the fish are so focused on the beds they ley eggs on
