First of all, I have watched people literally fist fight over the chili Mac MRE. Secondly getting skittles in your MRE is a godsend. Lastly, we often use the sulfur packets that heat up as hand warmers in the winter on ships or on regular watch. I have been looking forward to this GMM for a long time! Glad to see it finally here!!

Oh My Flavors! I saw the Jim Baker bucket one and the one where they ate the like 40 year old MRE but I haven’t seen any others. Did I miss a different one??
Ian Faulkner yeah it was the one where they open the 40 year old MRE but they also cooked and ate modern MRE in that ep too :)
We used to put a bunch of the tiny tabasco bottles in the heaters and roll it up to make MRE bombs and scare each other 🤣

Steve 1989 is by far the best mre reviewer on the internet. He ate actual hardtack from the civil war and coffee. Thats right food from 1865. He has eaten almost every type of mre out there. He is the absolute authority on military rations foreign or domestic. Thank you Gmm for doing a shout out to him . Both GMM and Steve1989 are my family's favorite channels.

Steve1989s ww2 MRE taste tests are really entertaining and interesting because you get a snap shot of american life then. Same goes for any mre from long ago. The fact that the government viewed cigarettes as so essential that they were in even the most basic MREs then is so crazy to think about since the generation that got those MREs are still alive to see cigarettes become very scarce in America.

cigarettes helped prevent shell shock ( ptsd while in combat ) and calmed troops down, they were also used to cover the smell of bodies since many troops would break cigarettes in half and put them in their noise.

Another strange “similar” was wwii German and prior apparently had some sort of methamphetamine included way back! I remember Steve had one opening where he found a similar sort of product in American mre. Hahaha oops! ^_^

As someone currently serving in the military: MRE’s are designed for high calorie for personnel not able to consume hot meals. Yes most are bland but if you’re eating them you’re not worried about flavor. Also - most vegetarian options have the good desserts! Muffin top or cake is my favorite. The chicken pesto from set B is also a really good meal

and then someone ends up with the omelette and cries themselves to sleep. Every part of that damn thing is bad and last time I saw one, it had the bacon spread instead of the jalapeno spread which was a huge dagger in the back.

You guys should do a "Where in the world do these Meals Ready to Eat come from". There are some really interesting and delicious MREs from different countries. Probably just use the main meal component of the MRE and transfer it onto a plate or a "Mythical" pouch.
Didn't they do something like that already? 50 year old bean and cheese? I don't remember if that's the one but there was one where they were deciding which country had the best MRE.

melodisch It's "We eat 40 yr old ham and eggs" and they reviewed and ate an MRE but just opened the old one. What I remember is a box that they opened with different ones from different countries and they ranked them. In they end they jokingly said something like 'oh these guys have the best ones, if you want the best food in the military you'd join them'. Maybe it was mail sent to them? I've tried looking for it but couldn't find it.

There's always lesser views on GMMore compared to GMM mainly because all the exciting stuff happens on GMM and the aftershow is GMMore, which a lot of people don't find interest in but personally, I love both of them.

After Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico last year we well me and my family at least ate a lot of these. There are some good ones, but some like the brisket are gross. My favorite is the chili and macaroni, I used to mix them with some chefboyardee beefaroni and it was bomb.
Yeah those MREs came in handy after the hurricane.
The Chili Mac one is worth its weight in gold. Whoever ends up with Chili Mac has to hide for fear of being murdered by his comrades. Not only is the chili mac good but it comes with Jalapeno cheese which is the defacto currency among ground pounders downrange.

My husband has been in the army for 7 years. We were in JROTC together in high school, and once in class we got to taste MREs. One kid, ate the cheese, oh but not just his, but like 3 people's cheese pouches... He later said he didn't poop for 3 days.
My husband said the chili Mac can mess your guts up.
He says his favorite is meatballs and marinara. He lived off of these for 3 months while deployed. I sent him what I could in the mail before mail stopped but the mice ate most of it.
My husband also added if you eat these please don't breathe the fumes from the heating pouch. And do not spill the water it can damaged surfaces.
My husband enjoyed watching this with me and I'm really happy!

You can't use ice cold water to mix any of the drinks especially the coco beverage powder haha.
Especially when you pour the whole damn bag into a cup that already has water in it. A bottle you can do that and get away with it.

I served in the Marine Corps for a while and just retired on July 30th 2018. Y’all brought back so many memories for me! The chili and Macaroni is the best one in my opinion.

Steve 1989 MRE and Krazy Russian Hacker (Taras Kul) teach a lot about and make MRE's look good to eat. I actually like them but I'm a military brat, we learn to like a lot of stuff other people never encounter.

I had an MRE once, the nurse at the school I went to was also a high-ranking military nurse, and she brought in one day a bunch of MREs for the students to try. I personally really like them, if you're not doing a lot of activity you definitely don't want to eat them often, they are extremely high in calories. Which is good for people in active service, as that's a lot of work, need a lot of energy, but if you're just sitting around all day not doing much eating these often is not a good idea.

I'm a backpacker and honestly freeze dried meals like this make me very happy. Going on what you said in the main episode about everything tastes better when you're camping. Its absolutely true especially when you have hiked 12 miles carrying a 60 pound pack TFF 🤣

From my time in ROTC, I can tell you the vegetable crackers are top notch. Most other items kinda have the taco bell situation going on (same ingredients, repackaged with with a different shape and name).
