I can see why players didn't like this map, but it sure is fun to watch skirmishes in the haunted forest.
As for the lore, what I understand is that the Protoss ignored the Terrans until the Zerg showed up at Chau Sara. Tassadar had been dispatched to determine how bad the Zerg infestation was, and when it was observed that the Zerg were endemic within the planet, he carried out the orders to sterilize the world. That was, as I recall, the first "conflict" between Terran and Protoss, but it was more that the Terran casualties were the collateral damage of pest control.
He spent two centuries observing the terrans, they were considered to be a mere curiosity
Exactly. The Protoss means of eradication in the dawn days of the conflict was to arrive to the orbit of the afflicted planet, and then unleash a planetary bombardment that would extinguish all life, regardless of the origin.
In this regard, conflicts or skirmishes such as exemplified in this match could be attributed to situations where there's a curious Xel'Naga artifact discovered upon the planet and each (sub)faction refuses to back down - such as Protoss Expeditionary Force dispatched to secure the area by all means necessary, and local settlers' opposing security forces, or staggered formations of Confederate Squadrons.
The CONSTANT aggression from Mini was just awesome. The drops, the storms, the worker massacres....just a well oiled machine.
The terrans were completely unaware of the protoss until the burning of chau sara, which was more collateral damage of the protoss purging the zerg, which they'd identified as an existential threat. The Protoss had known about the terrans pretty much the moment they'd arrived but didn't care much beyond passive observation.
When the first zerg started showing up and infesting the terran colonies looking for a potential advantage against the protoss by assimilating humans that's when the first "conflict" between Protoss and Terran happened, though they didn't really have an even fight until Tassadar stopped just burning their worlds from orbit and deployed his forces to try and spare the terrans while still killing the zerg.
TL;DR nothing that happens in skirmish games is really canon or loreful, nobody really has "skirmishes" in starcraft.

No spoilers here except for the fact that this match reminds me of the Holmes v Ali where Larry Holmes just pummeled Muhammed Ali for the whole match until the ref mercifully stopped it.

They dont meet the protoss until the unleash the zerg, then the protoss come.
I like these oddball maps. I know they want the maps to be all fair and equal so the players skill is what prevails but when in real life wars is the terrain equal for both sides advantage? It's more fun to me to see players go at it on weird maps

actually, this map appears to more accurately reflect the environmental and likely temperature conditions many of our previous winters have so displayed, haha. Nothing to laugh at, really, of course! Peace, and thx again and as always.
yeah I play a lot of CS2 and I am lobbying them to have the flashbang turn the screen black... that bright white flash truly hurts the eyes
