The Republic of Ireland don't play rugby; the island of Ireland, comprising six counties of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, play rugby. Who on earth have you been speaking to? Being an Ireland/Ulster Rugby fan from Down, the vast majority of fans this neck of the woods want to keep Ireland's Call. Understanding the sensitivity surrounding the National Anthem when playing in Dublin the majority of fans would never wish to prevent Amhrán n bhFiann from being played but the majority (mostly Unionist on average) have no affinity to the anthem. Without Ireland's Call, many feel alienated from proceedings.
