Chris Gardner was married and going to med school when he cheated on his wife and had a baby with her..... His son in the movie. The woman was his mistress who he left his wife for. So all of the shit that happened in the movie was a result of Chris being a scumbag. While the movie is inspirational and a feel good story, they left out why he ended up in that situation to begin with.
We all make mistakes, and he owned up and took responsibility for his actions as a father would. Most times when people cheat they abandon their first or former relationship and kids.
@@zacharyhsieh9358Chris was some money hungry scumbag who would lie and cheat to achieve. His motivator in life was money and being rich. I dont know how people can take this as an inspirational movie. Why did he not work a normal job so his son doesnt have to sleep in toilets? Because he cared for money and himself only.
In such cases, it is possible to be taken for granted and become forever “unappreciated”. Glad that it worked out for Chris, and kudos to his seniors who appreciated his efforts.
This is America... how they've brainwashed us into thinking this is actually the pursuit of 'happiness'. Remember, Chris Gardner was the exception and not the rule. He's got smarts and did work hard and persist, but he was lucky too. He shouldn't have had to be homeless and work an unpaid internship while looking after his son. Our lives are not meant to be to live to work, but to work to live. Our pursuit of happiness should be to cultivate positive relationships and help society (universal basic income, free health care, free education) rather than hustle and doing everything (even screwing other people over) for money.
