Clever dog cam fix ! Blue light not flashing ! Clever dog won't connect to wifi ! Factory Reset

- This took me ages to figure out and yet again the manual and scant help website are both incorrect on this issue. When your clever dog cam refuses to flash blue no matter how many times or how long you press that blessed wifi button, they advise just holding the reset button for 20 seconds. That's incorrect, watch and scream like a girl, like I did, when I get you cleverdog cam back online. I hope you like :) P.S sorry for the camera angles I had to do this adhoc (I was so excited when my other cam worked!) and was therefore juggling the cam, phone and a paperclip (which is key) Peace and love
I almost trashed this camera and wrote a scathing review on Amazon. Haven’t used this camera in a year or two and I was beyond frustrated trying to get the damn wifi light to blink! Thank you for keeping me sane with your trick; it worked!!

Mine kept flashing red even after trying this fix. It would not work after dozens of attempts. I know from experience that changing the usb charger can sometimes ‘kick’ an item back to life. I did this and hey presto it worked. Thanks Dave...sanity restored..!

Hello and thank you from Italy. I tried to reset my Cleverdog about 10 times following the instructions correctly, but it was never possible. Then I had an idea and changed the power supply from 1000ma to 2000ma. What was very simple was to reset to factory settings and then configure correctly in my wifi. I hope that my little advice can help those like me who had not succeeded before, despite the excellent and correct explanations. THANKS

Hoorah! :) You are welcome. I nearly threw mine in the bin aswell. Very frustrating. You know, without alleging anything lol, I do wonder if the throwaway option might be the m/o of the manufacturer. I mean, this isn't in the manual is it.

Thanks for posting this - while your fix didn't work for me, using a different 1A power supply did somehow spark my device back into life so worth trying for people that this did not fix for

I have been using it for over 5 years. Pretty good product. Ask me if you have any problem setting it up. The main issue I had figuring out while I was configuring the device to wifi, it asks for the password. First, you connect the device and enter the device password given by clever dog if it asks, and then after connecting the device, I get the message, device connected without internet. Maybe that's an error, Anyways, at that point, I clicked to go back and it will ask you to connect to the network and your home network shows up, at that point enter a password for your home wifi network. that's it. I was trying to enter a device password instead of a home wifi password, took a while to realize that ;-)

Thanks for this fix tried all sorts of resetting but this one worked great thanks a million ..like you just updated Virgin Router my newer clever dog worked first time but without this would have put old one in the bin

I should Probably out an SD card in it but unless the camera is hidden someone can just take the thing. We have a hard wired camera system as well not dependant on the internet but I like the little clever dog to check on family while out and see the property. Thanks again.

Thanks! even finding the reset pin hole is a challenge. I managed to configure it but i cant get it back in app so trying to reconfigure from scratch. So not exactly same issue but very similar.... Hopefully i can try some combinations to get it working

Tried this and it worked but here’s my next problem my phone won’t recognise the device even though it’s flashing blue and all looks good. Even deleted the app and reinstalled it but no joy.
Sorry, when should we release the pin? After the Red light off? But it seems the red light still dimly lit in the video?
Hi. Power off the device, press and hold the pin and switch it back on, but do not release the pin. Allow the led to go red twice still with the pin firmly depressed, then, when the red light goes out for the 'second' time release the pin and try the wifi button. I hope that helps, all the best.

Does this have night vision when used out doors
It does click to night vision, but it is am indoor camera. I would not personally put it outdoors.
I have before however put it upon a windowledge and it does film through the glass, although not perfectly. Hope that helps. I wouod consider something else for that, like RING for example.

Good vid. The problem with mine is that it no longer alerts my phone (samsung s8) when motion is detected. Used to work perfectly. Any ideas?
Luckily I also have a Samsung S8. I am assuming that your cam and app are all working, except for the notifications?
To be honest, my 3 also do not notify me if there has been movement, however I prefer it that way, as my old iphone used to buzz all day and night long, even though there was no movement whatsoever.
Things to check though: 1/ Make sure the micro sd card is not full ( unlikely) 2/ There is a settings button, and a notifications switch, in the Cleverdog software, that of course must be on (only a perhaps) 3/ If like mine the cleverdog notification button is green for on, but still not notifying the S8, then go to settings/ notifications in the actual S8/Android software and look at the list of apps where notifications are switched on. If the cleverdog software is not in that notifications/on list, go look at blocked by pressing on it and the cleverdog app will likely be in that list instead (most likely). Just unblock it and switch it on. I hope that helps.
Failing that I cannot think of much else. Let me know how you get on so that others reading this thread might learn the fix. All the best. Dave
Thinking about it. I also assume that your cleverdog software is set up, in settings, to actually detect movement whilst you are out? There are also options within settings to alter that.
@@daveguess6264 thanks for response. I have tried all that before and no joy. I think Samsung have updated something a couple of months back which has killed it, because as I say, it worked perfectly for a long time.

the reset button below the pin hole is actually a release button for the stand attachment that slots into the back. oops

Hey I’ve done this but when I hold the WiFi button in it doesn’t flash it just goes onto a solid blue light like before 😭
Oh no. I have not heard of that one before, perhaps a faulty unit? Maybe try again and ensure to hold and keep it down fir the red light to illuminate and extinguish twice? It reallyis the only reset that I have found.
Thinking about it too. Make sure that when you press the wifi button, to also keep that down and held down until it flashes - I hope. If you notice in my video that does take quite a while.
Dave Guess it was my fault! My partner came home and did it, turns out I couldn’t feel the button so I was pressing on nothing

These have to be the worst cameras ever. Bought a few. They've always been shit. They've never bothered to pay for a proper translator so English guides are fucking awful. Now they have the new shit way of connecting getting the camera to scan the barcode. But assuming not working due to the camera having old firmware!
