It’s disgusting what companies do when there’s a hurricane! Last year I was on hold with I forget what hotel in Panama beach, in case I had to evacuate Pensacola beach for Ida. I literally watched the rooms go up hundreds of dollars while I was on hold 😑
...and there's no refund if you don't longer need it, in case the hurricane changes direction, even 3 days before the date of the reservation. They are sharks!
What's even worse is the insurance companies that are there just for events like this try to deny everyone so your paying for insurance you can't even use

Or putting out silly predictions of multiple major hurricanes like they did this year to try to prop their agenda, then when nothing happens they have to hype up the 1 storm as a major hurricane even though everything points to it being a cat 1 or 2 at landfall.

Been here 50 years. You always want to prepare but as long as the storm is moving and not stationary, damage is pretty minimal when prepared.
