Very good lesson. I will take your advice and create nesting bowls with better ventilation. Especially with our heat here in Arizona!

Very important you have to get ventilation if not you will get sick youngsters for sure. thank you, Jacob Van Alphen. please show us your magnificent Jan Aardens and More.

The ventilation problem with those closed bottom bowls can be solved by using a wood stand with a circle hole in the middle where you place the nest - it will stay in the air. You see these often in nestboxes of breeders where they grow many babies, multiple rounds in a short time, to speed things up. They already have eggs in a nest at the base level when there are still growing youngsters at the upper level nest on the stand. My problem is with those round fabric nest materials, the pigeons scratch with their legs and make a mess, they even cover the babies in the fabric. With the tobacco stalks I had another problem: a few babies got killed because their tiny neck got under stalks and then the parents stepped over them and stayed like this for hours so the poor 1-2 days old babies couldn't move to escape. Still looking for better nesting materials...

Did you find anything yet? I use plastic bowls from dollar tree. And put play sand in them

@@gulsloft7323 I use regular straws from cereals and such, I get big packages from the market, they are actually goat food. :)

Guys who have issues can also use horse hay it’s very thin and bends more easy.
Many guys are also using paper bags and newspapers to cover bowls to make cleaning after breeding easier.
