Thank you so much ive been using photoshop for over 20 years and i always wanted to jump into this new world, It feels like im at home, this video encourage me to continue learning and practicing.
Very effective teaching. Clear and concise instruction. I am also thankful you made sure to include a 'wrong' example of connecting the color node to the gray scale port.
I understand where this is coming from as I'm coming from a Blender background. However I think what is missing here is a more explicit explanation for beginners from the outset that this tutorial will at no point show the end 3D result. I think that is where some of the frustration is coming from for the the people voicing critical opinions. This could easily have been dealt with in a more forthcoming manner especially as this is the first video in this specific series. Just wanted to be constructive :) Interesting piece of software.
Hey thanks. I just found it impossible to fit all that information in a single video, while still keeping it approachable to people who are very new to 3D. Also it didn't seem like a crazy ask to watch 25-30 minutes before getting to the actual 3D. But i think people are probably over-skilled if they are bothered by this tutorial going too slow, as generally "First Steps" videos are meant to be super-duper basic entry level...
I wouldn't pay for Adobe Substance Designer, but this tutorial is actually pretty good for Unreal Engine 5.4's new Texture Graph feature which is nearly identical to this, except that it's free.
I'm so in-love with the idea of exploring this new Adobe's tool for 3D renderings, however I can't find a clear step-by-step tutorial for absolute beginners. Do you guys know any? These ones are showcasing the app's capabilities, yet not explaining HOW to achieve those results. Thanks,
FWIW I got the latest update (as of January 92th 2024) of Designer V 13.1.0 and the Transform 2D function will not open in the graph. It displays a circle with a cross when I attempt to drag it in. I reverted to 11.3.3 build 5429 commit 15760e94 Release (2022-01-20) and it worked fine.
What is new compare to Substance Designer? You can assign custom mesh agains default ones? That's all? I don't get it, can i modify mesh using not just a tesselation by material heightmap. Using graph to create a new geometry to a model?
Yes, you now have a new type of graph allowing you to create and assemble geometry procedurally. Here is a tutorial: th-cam.com/video/_VAnxe-zHSY/w-d-xo.html
Hello. Unfortunately, in the Substance Designer program, you cannot directly import the vector files related to the Illustrator software. In case of using the svg node, the exact design we want will not be entered into the software and will be entered incompletely. Even if we save with lower versions of Illustrator, this problem exists. Can you guide me on how to solve this problem? Thank you.
ok but cant we just pinch and drag to change shapes or use a digital pen to remove curves i need a more straight forward less wordy 3d designer does anyone have any recommendations??
13:08 why my background turn white when i put the alpha on 0? I have the show checkboard ticket on already, and any value between 1 and 254 will blend the checkboard and black
I do not think so, unless the redesign from the ground up Photoshop, it's old tech that simply gets updated. If they do, I don't think that they will still call it Photoshop.
This one is quite different, it's much lower level and meant for people who struggle more with the program. In any case watch this first and then the 2018 one.
Is this a modeler?? Are there tutorials to make 3D models? Like a chair? A donut? A cup? A bust of David? A logo? A more complex widget?? HOW DO I USE THIS TO MODEL SOMETHING? Tutorials that teach modeling in this software?
Designer is largely a program to create 2D textures and material, but recently we've added functionality to create parametric models. Please refer to this video for an introduction on how to make those: th-cam.com/video/_VAnxe-zHSY/w-d-xo.html. You won't be able to make a bust of David with it though, that's more of a sculptural thing you'd do in our upcoming Modeler application.
How to pattern shape like disk (circle) with about 3px outline and transparent color inside multiple times to get radial stripes instead of antisotropic filtering? I mean this circles need to be smaller and smaller right to the archor point of disk. every disk will become smaller and smaller with adjustable gap between each copy. I need it for height map to convert it into normal in substance painter.
Hello, I am an absolute beginner in 3D design. I wanted to try Substance 3D and was hoping to find some help in this video to get started. But after only 20 seconds I see only big question marks. The first two glyphs are simply faded in the video. It is not shown which ones they are. Therefore my question: which glyph must be set first?????
The very first two are just illustrative during the introduction voiceover, the follow-along section only starts from 2:30 onwards. At that point, every single node is individually named and shown on screen.
10:22 When I move this to the other folder it wipes out the graph in Pattern_1. I see the arrow in at the bottom Output_1 2D but all info is gone otherwise. Bug?
Not sure what is actually happening, very hard to tell from your description. All previews and graphs will obviously be closed when moving, but you should just be able to re-open it in its new location. No data is supposed to ever get lost with a simple drag and drop.
uh yeah- I would be interested except I already pay for an Adobe subscription and now you want me to BUY another product- especially when there are still bugs in Photoshop! I am not sure I understand the play here. Adobe has more money than God- why not make these apps part of the subscription plan? I guess I will stick with Blender.
An introduction. With designer you really need to get some basics down before attempting anything. Many people give up in frustration, hence this video to give a simpler introduction. Impressive! ... A tutorial where I finish know less about what the dam thing does than when I started! Lots of twiddling boxes and linking "nodes". Not a lot of seeing any direct results. From what I can tell This application is a material editor based on 3D Max's. Designed by UI nerds and not modeling artists. looks slick but ultimately does make the task simpler. It appears to be putting a layer between the artist and the creation of the material. Distracting them from the subtle art of detail, with silly graphs and "nods"... If I wanted to become a graph nerd I wouldn't have become a 3D Artist!
Well, your opinion is wrong then, if you can't see why this tool is important and used by countless people across the industry. That's all I've got to say.
There are a lot of reasons... at the risk of sounding like a salesman: -Faster, better, dedicated tools.Designer lets you do things no other app can (pixel processor, FX-Map). -Unique, efficient SBSAR fileformat that's portable between apps. Means you can get the same look in different 3D apps -Procedurals cached to texture (substances) aren't expensive to calculate at render time.
