This is the highest level I have seen Ajla play, Putintseva is a really hard opponent and Ajla played a very good match, I think Ajla has top 20 potential this year.
@ToneBone of course I wouldn’t bet on it, WTA is very competitive and there are like 30 players with a very high level, I just think that Ajla looks good right now and might do it.
RIP and God bless for all the Aussie that lost their lives and for all of the animals too in the fires.! Great game for Ajha too. RIP for all of the ANZAK WW1/WW2. 🙌
Ajla needs another weapon. You see nowadays a lot of hard hitters have weapons like Pliskova has net play and serve, Sharapova has included drop shot and one of the best focus, Serena has great movement and serve and net skills. I could go on but Ajla is still young for tennis and can really rise the rankings if she can get more weapons, she already looks like a good players without a stunning forehand so if she added spin to that and made it more reliable, it’s really up to her whether she wants to win matches or not, mind you she hasn’t even won a wta title yet.
I keep saying this; the players at this level have pretty much all got all the shots (or else they wouldn't be pro's). But it's one thing to be able to strike a solid shot with good shape; it's another thing to position the ball. So many times I see great shots, but hit straight up the middle. If those same shots were hit to a sideline, with some pace taken off, and a bit more spin to get more angle, they would drag the opponent out of court, and set up the next shot. I wasn't surprised Ajla won; she played solidly, and hit a bit more to the sidelines. Yulia is a tiny thing, and wasn't physically able to compete; the rest of her game isn't crafty enough (like, say, Hsieh Su-wei) to make up for her physical limitations.

She's shown she has the level, at least. Reaching that level week in and out will be tough. Would be great to see!
Alla is playing so well - Super excited to watch her this season
She's gorge! Playing super well!
Two beauties, both w/ a ton of talent, dedication, and drive. Love it!
Ajla looked quite good this match, hopefully she can start to climb the rankings this year
Yulia looking good 😍❤️💖

Heady play from Tomljanovic. I thought Putsintseva would take this one

Айла💗
Wait for Halep... She'll get you!!!
two beauts: one classy, one sassy.
Ajla actually won a match - yay! She always seems so phlegmatic. Her dad should put some fire in her belly.
With Tomljanovic she has the game but not the mind as yet
I'm happy for Ajla. Putintseva is a great player but she acts annoying on court, even Serena is more sportive.
tomljanovic hit ball very hard,,yet still not progressed in grand slam
fun to see Putin lose
