Excellent! I take my Single Malts neat and Black label Jack Chivas on the rocks . Indian Whiskey are not made from Matured Malt based but made from Molasses so I add water and soda as you have been suggesting.

An additional reason for adding water in hot countries like India is to prevent dehydration. Dehydration is the main cause for hangover!

I pour normal water fully to dilute without ice to have more pegs. Blenders n Signature r my favourite.

I think with whiskey also one should try this combination but with little less water since whiskey is smoother and light flavoured than rum.Moreover don't exceed the 2 peg limit because if you go ahead of it then there is no stopping.
